everybody said Joubert. I hope he can live up to all your expectations. I am sure sure myslef. He has had some bad outings and now that he has the world title he could have a motiavtional problem.

This is shoudl be an easy one for Mao, not that much competition.

I am going with Virtue/Moir over Gregory/Petukhov... not sure why, maybe just because they will be at home.

I am actuakky gonna say Dube and Davidson. Both programs at skate america were just beautiful and somehow when they skate you forget about the mistakes. S&S have good PC scores, but they are often inconsistant.

In the mens, there are several names I've heard but never seen and don't know too much about. I think semi-clean Joubert just edges out an also semi-clean Jeff Buttle. Is he supposed to be trying his quad here? That will determine alot. I think the judges like him, but can't justify placing him over people with superior jumps. If he can even get one landed with a step out, too footed, even if it's slightly underrotated, it will help his reputation immediately and the judges will reward him with fantastic PCS. I don't know Abbot but he certainly looks decent on paper. Van der perren is a wildcard. He can score pretty big, but is quite inconsistent, or has been injuries? Then of course Christopher Maybee, and shouldn't overlook Vaughn Chipeur. His PCS will be terrible, but he did really well last year, in his senior grand prix debut and has a HUGE triple lutz and nice Triple Axel.

I hope Joannie looks better than she did in the camp video. The program was nice but she seemed a bit slow and the jumps she did didn't really get a lot of height. But if she is fit mentally and physically, she should be a lock on silver, and if Mao comes unglued somehow (unlikely) she could post a high enough score to win. She has 118.0 after singling a triple loop, and if she dares to try and succeed at the triple-triple, she could post something very nice here. So many if's, more likely I think she'll do a pretty good job, a popped jump, a step out, etc. and it will be a toss up between her and Nakano.

Although I am not going to predict Rochette to beat Asada, Mao coming unglued enough to open the door for a competitor who can skate extremely well, is not that uncommon at all. Last year she lost 3 of her 4 main international events, despite being hyped as the gold medal shoo-in at each. She isnt exactly the most consistent skater either.

Rochette has to skate a clean SP to have any chance at a gold medal. Asada usually scores close to 70 in her SPs and she does this rather consistently, even at the GPF last season when she was ill. Joannie's top SP score was 58.92, and that is 10 points below what Asada usually does. And it isn't often that Joannie scores that high in the SP, as she tends to make costly mistakes.

If Asada has a 15 point lead on Rochette going into the FS, even if Asada makes mistakes in the FS, Joannie will have a tough time scoring enough to overtake Asada.

From what I have heard, Nakano is in great shape, so it's not just Asada that Joannie has to worry about.

A lock on silver? I understand Nakano is going great guns and racked up a huge score at Japanese Regionals. She scored 66.40 in the SP and 118.36 in the FS, where she landed her 3A.

Rochette has to skate two clean programs and score a PB in both to have any chance at gold or even silver, if Nakano is skating this well.

Isn't Rochette doing the same FS she did last season? She should be brimming with confidence. If Rochette looked tentative at the training camp, that isn't a good sign, considering that Nakano and Asada are both in good fighting trim.
