Programs for 2013-2014 season

She wants that (individual) Olympic medal too, dammit! What grit and determination.

 That would be amazing, but I'm not holding my breath for a miracle. The Big 3 are just too strong. Gracie's a dark horse for the Olympic bronze, if she's lights-out and someone falters. She'll have a much better chance at 2014 Worlds, since Yuna (and perhaps Mao and Carolina) will not compete.

In any case...next season, it's ON!

Not sure about Carolina, but it won't be a surprise if Mao chooses to attend Worlds next year after Olympics...considering that the game will be held in her home country!

That might be the most uninspired choice of music in Daisuke's otherwise innovative career. Talk about going out on a low note. :disapp:

Oh, does a wiseman say, "Misfortunes tell us what fortune is?" ;)
Actually, I had the same feeling when I first heard his Ex number. Then I changed my mind. If we are to see him skating to this most uninspired choice of music, we would be more appreciative than before for the fact that how Dai has been special and innovative over these years, wouldn't we? After read Naoko Kashiwagi's article, I, as one of long time his fans, want to see him skating to this 'stereotypical' piece for a change. Besides, he hints in that article that he may have more Ex program(s?) to come. I am ready to see this Ex with a handkerchief in my hand. "Love conquers all."

Not only her. There are Akiko, Miki and/or Kanako.

But even though Gracie is not considered for the podium this time, if she will achieve her 3A or 4S it will be another history making. We understand well that US needs to raise her quickly as possible, but remembering Caro's case and Miki's case, eventually talented skaters will blossom at the right time.

Adelina and Liza would also have to bomb. Julia skates and jumps like a junior. Flexibility does not indicate maturity.

and Adelina pops her flips or falls, cannot rotate a full 2A-3T or 3T-3T
and Tuk has terrible sp problems and major weight issues

so your point was ?

I don't know if anyone has posted this
According to icenetwork's new article http://web.icenetwork.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20130716&content_id=53917348&vkey=ice_news
Ashley's new programs!

Icenetwork.com: Your free is set to Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet. How did you and Wilson choose it?

Wagner: When he first [proposed] this version of Romeo and Juliet, I said, 'Absolutely not, I cannot do this.' But he really pushed me. We worked really hard the week I was with him in Canada and we put together something great, I think.

David is a phenomenally creative person to work with; throughout his programs, there is always something to kind of catch your eye. He kind of took my skating to another level. He's given me a bit more of an understanding for music, phrasing and expression. It's those little details that can make a huge difference.
Icenetwork.com: Your short, to Pink Floyd's "Shine on You Crazy Diamond," couldn't be more different from your free. What made you turn to Bourne?

Wagner: Shae-Lynn is probably the sexiest woman alive, and I wanted to do a short more on the edgy, sexier side. I went to her for a show program this year, and what she put together (Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams") was awesome. She is such a performer and brings a unique perspective to skating.

I'm really excited for Ashley's short! c: The long...well...I honestly think that R&J is not for her, but we'll see.

OMG. Olympics season is going to be a snooze fest.
Everyone is playing it safe, it's ridiculous.

Mao is doing Rach
Ashley is doing R&J

I suppose Gracie and Sleeping Beauty is not as safe, but a ridiculous choice, nonetheless.

What's next? Yuna skating to Phantom, Caro skating to Turandot?

^^Akiko is already skating to Phantom :p Maybe Yuna can pick Swan Lake or Malaguena. Caro is sooo skating to Carmen (her 2011 exhibition).

So that's why the USFSA posted that video of Ashley skating to R&J as a junior in 2006. Wasn't too excited that she went to Wilson, but I guess we'll have to wait and see. Don't like her "SweetDreams" ex that much, but Shae-Lynn could potentially whip up something great!

Davis Wilson? Didn't he choreograph Sasha's R&J program for the 2006 Olympic season? Yikes. Well, he doesn't seem to use the "same ol' boring" choreography, so here's to hoping that it'll be good.

Edit: Ashley's R&J seems to be by Prokofiev (dramatic) while Sasha's was the Nino Rota version (romantic). So different music then?

And puh-lease, I'm sure Yuna will be skating to The Nutcracker.

She already has (2003-2004) :p Better maybe Yu-Na to Swan Lake and Caro to Sheherazade

"Nights in the Gardens of Spain" is a beautiful piece of music. Here's hoping Angela's program will tap into the expressive potential of the music.

Has anyone ever skated to "Nights" before? I can't recall it offhand.......

In the battle between small jumps and puberty jumps I would bet on small!

Well, but small jumps usually suffer from UR calls and downgrades(like Miyahara's jumps), don't they?

I was thinking of small but non ur. But even if they are ur sometimes you aren dealing with singling or having to get rid of jumps. Like maybe the flip for Adelina.

Miriam Manzano did for her LP in 2004, skated to it with great affect too?

Julia's jumps aside from her 2A are not microscopic like Miyahara
Julia's jumps are borderline in average , tiny jumps are Radionovas and microscopic like Miayharas

Agree, at JW everyone was grouping the 3 Russians together saying their jumps were so tiny but it's really not the case. Radionova's jumps are smallish, but at least look like actual jumps as opposed to the REAL tiny jumpers like Miyahara, Miller, Lam, etc. Julia's jumps are normal for a girl of her size, and Anna's jumps actually go up pretty high (she just doesn't get a lot of length on them, but her toe jumps really do get lots of elevation). And for the record Liza's jumps aren't exactly huge either, they are pretty small but the technique is so good that she still gets +GOEs a lot of the time. Adelina has huge jumps sure but it doesn't help her much because she has issues rotating the jumps and her air/landing positions are often sloppy and unstable.
