just put together some furniture and a mirror from IKEA, after getting some tools to do that:laugh:, I'm still feeling weird at this new place though...

congratulations, Mrs. P!!! You should be my inspiration move myself a bit, but I'm just too lazy and feeling even worse to read such stories like yours;)

So this morning I ran a 5k race and I smashed my PR by more than a minute -- my goal was to break 30 minutes today and even beat my previous PR of 29:57, but I ended up with 28:47!!! I can't help but wonder if the sports gods decided that was enough sports victory given the men's FS today. :laugh:

In all seriousness, I am so happy. I have trained really hard and honestly seeing my favorite figure skaters work so hard motivates me to do well in my own athletic pursuits.

When I was in high school, I couldn't even run a mile in 11 minutes. To know I could do more than 3 in a 9:15 mile pace is just amazing for me.

Also today marks 731 days since I started my running streak -- 1 mile a day everyday -- I hit 2 year mark tomorrow. I even kept the streak up at Boston Worlds (several GS members can vouch for me on this!)

So really have a lot to be thrilled about.

Congrats!!! That's a big accomplishment. It's always rewarding getting a new PR. Do you do any other race distances?

To answer your question, I've done a few half-marathons and 10ks as well. I'm focused on improving time, so keeping it to 5ks for now with plans to probably move up to 10k. This works well with keeping up with an active two-year-old. I'd like to work my way up to faster 10ks and try a half again sometime.
 
I love pulling weeds out from the garden and lawn! We've had some heavy rain here that's made the soil quite soft and it's very therapeutic when you pull the whole weed out roots and all!

I can identify... just moved from New Hampshire to Connecticut here in USA; although it is winter, in CT ground isn't yet frozen solid so I can pull old dead weeds left behind by previous owners. :roll9: impossible in NH...... strange the difference a few miles makes weather wise!! Enjoy your summer season wishing you lovely gardens with lots of weeds to pull...:biggrin:
 
I'm bad...My Black Friday orders came and...

...everything I like, everything fits, everything I need, apparently:slink::drama:, while I counted on returning some items back, ugh...
 
I'm really tired of having no internet at home. Now our provider is saying it will be another week or more "whenever the tech feels like it". They laughed at my mom when she said that attitude is unacceptable.

In all seriousness, might be worth checking the Better Business Bureau or the Attorney General's office in Alaska.
 
FINALLY have internet. It took me spamming their social media platforms (which are archaic compared to other companies) and basically arguing with the latest jerk on the phone and telling him that none of his options were acceptable. I even demanded them to explain to me why I would stay with them and not go with their only competition in Alaska (which is worse than they are, but I guess teh threat worked)

the kicker: it was EXACTLY what I told them it was last week - the modem. The guys on the phone all told me I didn't know what I was talking about. This could've all been avoided had they just listened to me. :mad: there will be several letters written to different organizations to make sure they are aware of the ridiculousness.

That's super lame. I'm glad you got it back though!
 
So a photoshoot I did a few months back for a family that has a small set net fishing company for a publication is now in a national magazine (they let me know ahead of time that it would be used in a publication, didn't realize it was a national one! lol). I've been this family's photog for over a decade. It's just cool to see my work get "out there".

I had to climb down the bluff on a rickety rope ladder and then climb into a boat from the shore while it was still in the water. I got sea sick. Their dad thought it was hilarious. I should've charged WAY more than I did. :laugh:

Congrats! I've had one of EPIC's turkey bar things -- it's pretty good stuff.

Anyway, you can now say you been published and use that to increase your rates. Companies are willing to pay for stuff like that! And my advice is cheap, but you should reach out to the EPIC marketing folks and see if there are other opportunities for publication in the future?
