Random Confessions

Arggggh, my roommate is moving out at the end of the month and I haven't found someone to take her room yet...

It's been almost 20 years since I took calculus (not AP, but dual-college credit course)....I'm starting to feel old.

Also sobering when you talk to a high school senior and they tell you they were born the year you graduated.

2 days ago after I finished my final, I was taking the shuttle bus back to the main campus (From the sci-tech campus) and I heard Carmen being played on the radio and I was like, "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!"

Culinary update (hehe;)) - that lentil/veggie stew is something, definitely a new favourite:)

Is it bad I don't really care for the ice shows? I mean I did go to a Stars on Ice show 4 years ago, but that was cause I went just to see Jason Brown skate. Idk, guess stuff for school and other stuff has impeded on stuff and I'm just yearning for competition again. Plus seeing some rule proposals by the ISU is making me think "c'mon....really?"

I've gotten hooked to Korean dramas :slink:

Last week a friend asked me what was I working in, I told her the flip and made a basic explanation. She jumped it no problem... I'm still stuck double footing it and not completing the rotation (same with the loop tho, I'm still stuck on the same thing). :((((
On the flip side (hahahahaha) I got enough flexibility to do a passable Biellmann posture off ice now, tear-shaped and everything. Now if I didn't go into my toepick every time I try it as a spiral... /Sighs

Might seem stupid, but I am weirdly excited about getting today my order from grocery/food shop - cannot wait to get that peanut butter with Himalaya salt, coconut paste/mousse, yeast flakes, all spices, organic dales and raisins . I plan to get it into use during weekend - no-baked banana bites with peanut butter and dale caramel and lentil/veggie stew with yeast flakes adding that cheesy flavour;)

We need a recipe thread, and I'm putting you in charge! :gclap: I am intrigued by no-baked banana bites! (and all the others mentioned for that matter!) You know how to torture us.

I do hope to meet again, this time with cabin bag full of something good:laugh:, those no-baked banana bites - I backed off last weekend, because this peanut butter was too 'watery' for me somehow, it would not 'stick' steadily onto banana slice, I have to buy more creamy one and then try. The recipe is quite easy and straightforward, taken as usual lately from SimplyQuinoa blog - banana slices (medium width, not too thin), onto that mashed dales/blended dales (to caramel consistency, teaspoon on each slice) and onto that half of teaspoon of peanut butter - all of that to the freezer, then after 'gelling' together dip it into melted chocolate and store in fridge to cool down. I imagine it tastes good:cool14:

But, as we say in Poland 'nature hates emptiness', instead I made another 'first-timer': simple and quick pie from coconut flour, oat flakes, dales, bananas, peanut butter and coconut/rice milk, putting frozen cherries/raspberries on top. Very moist and sweet, despite no sugar and eggs added:).

And I made also this veggie/lentil 'stew' thing - definitely one of my favourite recipes lately! I've even bought a wok pan to cook it:laugh:. Also simple, with few ingredients (red lentil, potatoes, red onion, red pepper, dried tomatoes, broccoli, garlic) and lots of herbs/spices, I made a portion for 3 days' dinner in 30-40 mins:)

I have a new physiotherapist. He is a dead ringer for Ross Miner. If he hadn't introduced himself with another name and spoken with an Australian accent I would have addressed him as Ross.

Happy Saturday everyone:) :) :)
Cheers from my hometown where I am spending this weekend with my mom and our dog. And Happy Mother's Day as in Poland we traditionally celebrate it today! Also, we just get a rhubarb pie into the oven:)

Today I'm baking bread for my workdays' lunch (my weekly pastime:), now letting it rise second time).
Your veggie/lentil stew sounds really delicious:luv17:. I love soup/stew very much, also cooking foreign recipes!

So, I'm just curious but do you use any oil or butter for it?; saute the vegetables at first?; use citrus fruits like lemon for seasoning?

"Rhubarb pie": I had to google about it as I've never met the "rhubarb" at store, it looks like delicious sweets... made me want to bake tart (pâte sucrée) again:laugh:.

Today I got to share ice with Ashley Wagner and by share ice I mean that she was skating (practicing for my clubs ice show) and I was frantically taping blue vinyl tablecloth over the boards.

The glamorous life of having less than 2 hours to set up for a show. She was fabulous though!

As for veggie/lentil stew - yes, I used a bit of an olive oil to stir up red onion, but that's all, after stirring it potatoes, lentil follow with water to cook. As for seasoning - I use lime/lemon juice if I have one on hand;), my usual set of spices are salt, pepper, garlic, smoked red pepper, thyme, basil, curcume. The recipe also recommends fresh parsley and fenugreek seeds - it really adds a great favour to the whole thing in my opinion :).

In Poland there is now a rhubarb season - it is a plant with a bit of bitter taste, so usually we roast it sliced in little parts with brown sugar in pan to reduce bitterness before putting it to to the cake/pie/tart. It gives a fresh taste to classical pie in my opinion.
