Rika Kihira

How she lands the 3lo is she has incredible flow out of jumps, her jumps aren't muscled in the slightest so it is easy. She might improve it with time like she did with the rest of her jumps. I don't think the 3A-3lo is going to happen haha she has other things to work on. I think i've only ever seen Petr Gummenick land the 3A-3lo btw, idk if someone else has landed it in competition, it is a scary combo to look at honestly.

Rika's 3A and 3A-3T are seriously so damn consistent now, i am mind blown. How many times i've seen her land them in practice at IDF, her success rate is probably well above 80% now.

My post vanished...I don't get how you can quote me and I can't find this post...

I wonder how many men have a quad (any quad) success rate higher than her 3A success rate. Yuzu's solo 4S and 4T have to be up there.

funny thing: I posted a long post here and it also vanished. I don't know what happened. :scratch2:

well done Rika for an amazing skate!! so glad and happy she landed everything cleanly and skated a wonderful program :luv17: i am also happy that she is showing us that JW title doesnt mean everything :slink: hopefully she can hold it together at LP too, but even if she cant its okay cause its all part of the learning process :agree:

edit: in case you didnt see it, here is her SP from SBS Australia broadcast

I'm FROM Australia and her skate wasn't broadcast on SBS live. What is this.

Often times TV broadcasts show performances a few hours later with commentary. Eurosport Germany does that often as well if competitions are during the night. They will then broadcast the competition the next morning with commentary.

My satellite TV broadcasted NHK Trophy live. I just wish regular free-to-air TV were as enthusiastic about FS. Now I have to find a stream for the LPs coming up in 7 hours, after a potentially stressful night sleep.

What's up with the mods on this forum? Why are they deleting comments for no reason? :rolleye: especially comments that are actually relevant to the thread! i wrote that long post for nothing for christ's sake :palmf:

Here's a translation of Rika's tv interview after NHK trophy https://twitter.com/axelsandwich/status/1071373212426981376
And pictures where you can see just how ripped she is, i'd die instantly if she headlocked me :laugh2:

Those arms omg. Girrrrl. You would never think that she has these big muscles when you see her skating. Omg she could knock me out with that LOL

Off-topic but I didn‘t find any commentary from German Eurosport. And I was really looking forward to them commentating Rika‘s SP. At NHK they were gushing so much about her, I was wondering what they had to say about her SP. But nothing there. :(

We’re used to see such small girls on the ice, looking like princesses that we tend to forget how much they actually had to work to get to the point they are now. That‘s why, despite having favourites like everyone else, I always root for every skater to do their best. :hap10:

And I love her genuine, happy laugh in these pictures.

I'm so excited to see Beautiful Storm again tonight. It's my favorite ladies program of the season with Kostornaya's SP :hap10:

Yeah, I was sad as well that they did not do one for the Ladies SP, Iguess it was too early for them, but they have planned a commentary for the Ladies Free Skate today! It will be on Eurosport 2 and the Eurosport player

There will be a highlight program next week, but for one or two years Eurosport doesn't show the short programs during the highlights anymore. We were actually very lucky with the GP events this season and especially NHK had good coverage, IdF also for the Ladies. Now that all the other Wintersport like Biathlon and Skiing is on, Figure skating is not important anymore. It's the reality of Eurosport. If Rika does well in the LP we will probably get three commentaries for that, the one during the live broadcast, a rerun during the Gala intermission, and the highlight commentary. But only the free.

Rika had a clean runthrough in practice

Nice! thanks for the update. Have fun watching the ladies free :agree:

She did a 9 triples run through :laugh2: she is so chaotic

This is an interview quote i just saw from yesterday after the SP

"Now I feel confident that I can do the same again in competition," said the skater from Nishinomiya regarding her triple Axel. "For the free program, my goal is to land all my jumps cleanly and I will do my best to ensure it. I don't want to have any other regrets. Now that I've received such a score in the short, I need to complete my free successfully as well. That's all I would like to focus on for now."

I just hope she remembers that, you know, she can't actually do that combination of jumps in competition

I mean...she can't be too unhappy with that performance, although she'll have regrets. If only...
