Russian article on Irina (not good news)

I believe Irina does have a disease that can be controlled but not cured. I think the reports and media do exaggerate minor setbacks and so people do tend to get cynical as to her real condition. I think the reason she seems to be superskater is not her skating but the INFLATED marks she gets for average somewhat sloppy skating . I like Irina and hope she does well along with Michelle. I want to see both on the podium. Irina is not to blame for corrupt judging but does have a tendency to get upset if she gets the marks she deserves because she really believes she is to get 8s and 9s for PCS marks. Irina does NOT skate a 8 or 9 PCS prograqm. Lets not bash Irina for corrupt judges and judging. Im feeling a big upset coming and Irina is not going to be happy. I just want Michelle and Irina on the podium cause they both deserve it. They worked long and hard and gave a lot to the sport .

I think you said it best. This is basically my view as well (except for the liking Irina part  )

However, I think this season she HAS skated really well and deserved all her wins. The only thing I question is the actual scores that she's getting.

You believe everything you read? You have the right to be gullible if you want to be such, but you can't convince everyone to believe someone who claims to be sick with this-and-that and then get sick again with this-and-that and still get sick again with this-and-that, all amidst a bunch of pity-me stories and while consistently skating as a superwoman. Puh-leez!
Consistantly skating as a superwoman? Do you remember her 9th place finish at Worlds just a few years ago?

RGirl:rofl:

Now that I have been outed as a malingering psychotic I guess it's safe to tell.......the rest of the story......

I lied about having vasculitis so my doctor would put me on prednisone. But, my intentions were honorable. Last fall ,when I saw how well Irina skated on prednisone:p and how my favorite poor Shelly :boohoo: was injured because she was a lazy, greedy, witch trying to avoid the COP a PLAN appeared to me in a dream from the skate gods:bow:. The skate gods:bow: told me that to save U.S. ladies figure skating I must sacrifice myself and skate in Shelly's place at the Olympics. While I would do anything to help poor Shelly (and of course USFS)I doubted my ability to do this. The skate gods:bow: assured me they would provide me with everything I would need to pull off a deception that would make Marie Reine Le Gougne, Yuri Balkov, and even Jeff Gillooly proud. Team "Gold for Shelly" was formed. The team consisted of my skating coach RGirl Arturian (now you know... the R stands for Raphaella), choreographer RGal Tarasova-Nichols, costume designer Doggygirl Wang, agent Mathman 44.4% Goldberg, publicist RavenNRant Brennan, personal trainer and masage therapist Johnny Zimmerman:biggrin: , photographer Tonichelle Mittan, and the president of my non-fan club Red Dog. With the team in place it was up to me to convince the doctor that I had vasculitis so I could get my hands on that prednisone. I needed to find just the right doctor. Eveyone knows how word of mouth is the best advertising so when I heard about Dr. Anythingfora "Buck" Gropesarefreeov I knew I was in luck. He was Russian, the house doctor for a local strip club, worked out of his basement, had only had his medical license revoked twice, and would take either Vodka or a lap dance instead of payment. Wearing a little red dress that would make an ice dancer blush I showed up for my appointment (that he only sees patients after 10 pm was another plus:agree: ). After filling out the medical history (substituting information from Irina's medical records) it was time for the dreaded physical exam. Being a compassionate man Dr."Buck" saw what distress I was in;) and assured me that a doctor with his abilities could diagnose anything with just a few simple tests. First he would need to evealuate how the vasculitis had effected my flexibility. To do this he asked me to attempt the BC (yes, he is a Sashafan)and Charlotte positions. Next he asked me to do a few shimmies to " Bootyliscious" so that he could assess muscle control. Seeing how upset I was after failing both tests he kindly offered to do a free breast exam (who says doctors today just don't care?). With tears in his little beady eyes he told me that yes, what I had suspected was true. I did indeed have vasculitis. After asking me to spell it for him, he completed the forms that would be needed for the USFSOC to allow me to compete while taking prednisone. Yes, I was almost home free! After having a few drinks with me so that I could collect myself he wrote the prescription. Not only did he give me unlimited refills he also referred me to a pharmacist friend of a friend who also worked out of his home and kept late night hours. "Don't be alarmed" he said,"It just looks like a meth lab". Armed with a lifetime supply of prednisone as well as some complimentary special "vitamens", and the support of Team "Gold for Shelly" everything was in place. By faking a groin pull I was able to avoid Nationals and get a medical bye for the Olympics. I pulled off the test skate. BTW the committee from USFSOC loved the "goody bags" of cash Mathman presented to them after the test.skate. And now, it's all over. I have been exposed. The dream is gone:cry: . JanJam and Havanamesa1 I hope you can live with yourselves.

I hope to return to this thread when Irina proves all you doubers wrong and wins gold. She was supposably too sick to win Worlds last year too. GO IRINA!!!

remember she's still the overwhelming favorite to win the Gold, sick or not.

Piel!!!!!!!

Maybe

Shes also the overwhelmingly OVERMARKED skater out there. She wont prove anyone wrong if her marks reflect her skating and with reasonable marks. FSU has a poll a euorpean site mind you at least for the most part. The ques. is are Irinas PCS scores inflated the ans. 80% yes and 19% no. I found that telling. I guess 19% of those watching are right and 80% are wrong. It seems to be quite apparent that the fans arnt being fooled about Irina and her skating being way overmarked. I wonder if setting her up for gold could have anything to do with it. Any skater who is consistantly overmarked is going to be the Fav. Im just glad that the general majority of fans are not being fooled.

Now all you need to do is convince those 80% to become actual judges....and then your problem will be solved!!

Actually any poll at FSU that has 80% thinking something makes me even more certain that view is the wrong one. If I had thought Irina was overmarked, I now no longer believe she is, 80% of FSU thinking she is validates any doubts I had, and now makes me feel securely she is not overmarked in PCS.

How many people in total responded to that poll? Remember that a poll is only reflective of the people who choose to respond to it.

I think you had to read the posts in that FSU poll to understand that most people thought SOME of Irina's PCS marks were too high. Many said that Irina deserved her high Skating Skills and Performance/Execution marks, but thought the Transitions, Choreography and Interpretation marks were overmarked.

However, most agreed that it is the WAY judges are using the PCS scores that is at fault. The judges are marking skaters with component scores all in a very narrow range. So if Irina earns 8.25 for skating skills and 8.00 for performance / execution, the judges tend to give her scores around those marks for the other components whether or not they are deserved.

The opposite prevails for skaters who have a lot of problems in a FS. An off performance by a skater who isn't one of the top skaters is reflected in the other components. A skater who normally scores in the 6s may find all her scores in the 5s if she has a few mistakes in her performance, even though the basic choreography and interpretation is still good.

As I said

Yep your right. Its the few who are right and all the rest are wrong. Slutskayafan1you are one of the elite, the ones who are right and I think Irina will get 12s at the OLYS for her PSC scores and that should clinch it for you. You have the bragging rights. Im one of the wrong ones win or lose Irina is overmarked however I can be one of the wrong ones and thats OK .

I think most posters on GS also believe that Irina's components are consistently overmaked. However, there is no contradiction between a "fair win" and "being overmarked".

The people at FSU honestly think Joubert deserves higher PCS scores than Buttle and Lambiel, so any consensus thought people of FSU have on PCS scores is automatic ridiculousness. I would only use any poll they have to demonstrate evidence of what is the wrong opinion, sort of like how Marie-Le Gougne would judge a skating event.

406 people. And many making intelligent comments as to WHY they think as they do, and what component marks in particular.

I think a similar poll should probably be started here. Heck, I'll get on it...
