Senior FD

I'm not worried about Tessa and Scott pulling it all together for Worlds. Not worried at all. What they have to work with, the potential of this program, is amazing. I would MUCH rather see a little bit ragged performance of something unique and exciting than a perfect performance of a blah, nothing-special dance. And I bet a lot of you reading this would agree with that!

On top of that, these are seasoned competitors who are probably very critical of themselves. They know what needs work, and if they were at all disapointed by their performance (which they should NOT have been!), that disappointment is only going to motivate them further. If both remain healthy, the sky's the limit!

I only hope Delobel/Schoenfelder are healthy and able to compete at Worlds--head-to-head Pink Floyd is going to be awfully exciting to watch!

I finally saw the video on youtube and I have to say that I LOVE Virtue+Moir's FD music and the style they are portraying in this program. I find it so captivating! Even their costumes have this artsy, mystical, edgy quality that intrigues me. They are such an attractive team! I look forward to seeing how this program evolves and I hope they really dazzle at Worlds. I love them!:bow: GO TESSA+SCOTT!

Finally someone who enjoys V/Ms FD as much as I do. I love their program. It's awesome and spectacular, different from their last free dances, but also great. I think it has amazing potential. (Hopefully they also use it for the Olympic season.) I prefer their version of Pink Floyd, because it's more like I would dance to it. Delobel/Schoenfelders version is kind of blah also in comparision to their last free dance.

Too bad V/M had to start so late in the season. If they hadn't, there probably wouldn't be that talk. I doubt that many top teams would have been able to pull off such a (difficult) free dance under the same circumstances. (Domnina/Shabalin's FD this year lookes more labored in my opinion.) V/M probably never had a competition with so few training time before.

Does anyone know what happened to Rebecca Fowler / Iliya Koreshev? How come they didn't finish the competition? There are no marks for their FD?

quick notes:
-sense of struggle on the spin; either practice/perfect or simplify
- F-ing amazing 1st half of their opening lift - once they get to the "combo" it gets sloppy
- circ footwork: active and free- raw energy type of lively
- hands-free: not a good idea - quite hazardous
- twizzles: kerr-ish with the overload of hand movements
- my once favorite lift: the split, now lackluster compared to EX version. hit or miss- transition difficulty
- first lift in the "money" section - opening looks KERR-ish
- diagonal is quite generic.

general impression:
first of, no lyrics! i guess they were portraying a "happier" side to a song that says "oh im not afraid of dying. anytime will do" hahahah
so-so (except for that opening lift!) mix of the two songs kind of...ruined my preference to consistency- then again - their theme and approach. i see it more....lyrical and somber (somewhat...)

AND

I actually was unimpressed with V/M - looked like they were just throwing extreme difficulty in, shaky with it, and not focusing on the other aspects of the program. Like that lift where she was standing on him - yes difficulty, balancing with no hands, but her foot was moving back and forth on his leg like crazy.

exactly what i thought.

(and an advanced note for all you V/M fans: im only pretending to be a judge. please dont let my D/S paraphernalia root you to assume of "biased" commentary.)

The problem is that this dance has exactly the same problem IMHO that the one of Pechalat / Bourzat. There is nothing to link the first half to the second half of the program : zero artistic lisibility.
Add to that the two musical pieces don't really fit one with another, I don't get it at all. Mind you, I didn't get DelSchoen's program before it had a little more mileage so who knows.

I am at least glad they're working on spins and lifts, althought most are variations of KhokNovistkys or Dubreuil&Lauzon, without the theatrical looks of LaKhok.

When will they hire a REAL choreographer ? When will they change their step sequences ? The same ones as last year, one step differences. That's demanding sure.

And I won't go on the OD thread because I really fing it cheap for a coach and a choreographer to put two charlestons that look the same with nearly the same composition. Lame.

Finally someone who enjoys V/Ms FD .
I am second
I love, that D/S and V/M have so different dances - its greate!
Like Del/Sh fans i dont want claim opponents. I think Isa and Oly is greate and they show to us a lot off greate dances, And i will miss them at ECh
As for V/M FD- its most innovated in all parts- in lifts, in transitions. They show elements of modern dance - really have choreo in dance
I hope they will train hard and will skate clean at WCh
