Unpopular opinion: I love Vera Wang’s costumes for Nathan, especially the one for the FS. :scard7:
I love them too - especially the FS one with the white collar
I still prefer Nathan's random long sleeve blouse for his FS at the beginning of the season, the loose sleeve accentuates his flow on ice and fits the theme of the program better. I agree the Vera Wang design for his FS is better than the SP ones, but the white collar on black somehow just reminds me of Sound of Music
I think male skaters should be more "conservative" - Patrick Chan and Jeremy Abbott were very well dressed from this point of view, elegance with simplicity. Yuzuru Hanyu's costume in Sochi (SP) was great too.
That's the general feeling I have towards most of the North American men, I feel that they are conformed to the idea of conservatism that fans have on them, in such a way that they are afraid to dress more vibrant with character. This reminds me of one US mainstream media write-up on Nathan leading towards the olympics, that his skating and image represents the rare masculinity of the current men figure skating field. Don't bash me if i didn't remember the exact wording properly, I admitted I didn't read much of the article, I just cringed and moved on, realizing the general norm on men and figure skating is still quite a narrow vision. and it makes me very sad that some skaters might be reluctant to dress a bit differently than the usual plain top with black pants (I'm totally ok though if that's exactly what they prefer

not saying everyone has to dress up or anything, not all skaters are suitable to dress up anyways. I just wish skaters are free to dress however they like, loud or subtle, without having to worry being labelled certain way.)
With regards to Yuzuru it really depends if you like Johnny Weir's designs. They're not for everyone. Fashion blogger Nick Verreos hasn't always praised Yuzuru for his costume decisions.
I don't think Yuzuru's costume in the last quad was very Johnny Weir at all, perhaps you are thinking more from the pre-sochi cycle? None of his costumes from 14-15 and on reminds me of Johnny, except maybe for Hope & Legacy (last season's FS) I can see an argument there.
If we're talking Cricket Club here's an unpopular opinion: I usually hate Javi's costumes.
I think both of Javi's costumes from this past season are great, I'm especially pleased that he upgraded the look of Man of La Mancha, the original version was too bulky and stiff. The new version was light and flowy on ice. In fact I would say all 3 men on the Olympic podium had great costumes that suit their program very well, each unique in their own way. I like all the versions of Shoma's Turnadot, even that bright yellow one is growing on me too (saw someone with this comment earlier), as long as he doesn't pair it with over-gelled hair
