Slow Motion Jump Editing (AKA: Sam's Jump-a-ma-tron)

Working on any other videos, Sam? (I'm not currently working on any projects for here at the moment.)

I'd have thought this thread would be hoppin' after Worlds... :slink:

Give it some time, I think most people are still trying to get over the fact that the seasons officially over (excluding WTT) Once off-season comes around people will need something to argue over again ;)

Yes....I remastered a soundtrack to fit my need finally. It's from the guy who did the music for Pan's Labyrinth..... Javier Navarette. I'm doing a WC Remix with a ton of skaters. Lots of downloading. Mostly the SP though :slink:

I think the jump-a-ma-tron is spreading and getting popular. The Skating Lesson had an attempt at an Adam Rippon Lutz jump-a-ma-tron in their latest recap, but you all do a much, much better job. It was really cute, they started trying to slow the clip down just as the guest said something about watching in slow motion. But again, yours look much better than what they tried to do.

So I have said it before and I will say it again. I think you all are contributing to the sport in a positive way. Good job and thank you.

not sure if can be done, but some pairs stuff would be cool, like sbs jumps / twists / throw jumps

Li Zijun fan video with jumpamatron and spinamatron fx utilized :) Up to 720p HD quality if you adjust the settings on YouTube.

I played around a bit more with this one with varying degrees of success and failure :slink: One thing's for certain....I love watching this girl skate.

Appreciate the kind words StitchMonkey. Actually it is a lot of fun making the videos and the best part is learning skater's programs really well and seeing their technique at very slow speeds. It's just fascinating. Doing the "remix" series are the most fun for me because I can go thru a program and pick out everything I really enjoy and match it up with a whole different song and try to show skater's quality in movement. Incorporating the jumpamatron style into the remixes has really started to work well too IMO. I was going to do a jumpamatron of Jason Brown from the WC but instead wound up making a 4 min remix that is currently uploading and rendering (about an hour process or so). I'll post it here and in the fan thread as soon as I am finished. I noticed some pairs requests up thread and plan on getting to them soon.

Nice work, Sam! :agree: Zijun Li is

So I've seen a few suggestions in here about doing split screens, picture-within-a-picture, etc... always thought about experimenting with those things.

Then I saw a link posted to a YouTube video of Mao Asada & Elizaveta Tuktamysheva doing their triple axels side-by-side in slow motion. The camera angles weren't the best, and the quality of the Liza video was poor compared to the Mao one. I wanted to do a better quality comparison, so I stole the idea and started work on my own Liza/Mao 3A video.

It quickly turned into some crazy editing experiment -- I did a side-by-side, picture-within-a-picture, even 4 screens at once! I had to stop myself before it got completely out of control... but thought I'd share this 'piece of work' to plant ideas for future videos here?

Thank you, Sam and Sabinfire, for the videos.

Zijun's spin positions are lovely. Her technique on the flip-toe looks good; I think getting it around is just a matter of more conditioning and less nerves.

The 3A video is very cool. :) I think I spent more time admiring the interesting screens than the jumps.

Well I love it!

If anyone is looking for ideas, I thought i would post this pic as something that might intrigue some of you. Please don't take this as a me asking ya'll to do more work, I appreciate what you do, but I did think you when I saw it and thought some of you might like the idea.

This is a cool idea... evidently the company is making a business out of video analysis of figure skating!

Here is a picture of Liza's 3A with a height of 61.6 cm and length of 259 cm!

Evidently, she is marked at being about 157 cm in size. For those not using the metric system, Liza comes in at just over 5 feet tall, and her 3A jump at Worlds was over 2 feet above the ice at it's peak.

Thx for the posting, here and in the fan fest, Sam! :cheer2:Maybe someday Jason will guest edit:laugh:

I'll let him use my editor in exchange for twizzle lessons. Although it looks like both he and Polina have done some editing of their own. Either way I'll still take those lessons from
