I'm not that much of a "fan" of So Youn, so this is just a "fly-by" posting to share some photos I took of her at Finlandia a few weeks ago - I thought the "proper" fans here might like them...

They're really nice. I hope I can see her live sometimes, which I basically haven't had much luck in terms of seeing my sport idols live before they retire.
On a different note, if she manages to land her jumps cleanly in the coming GP I really hope the judges go with her on GOEs. I can understand getting low or negative GOEs in the short for absence of steps in the solo triple or too long of a preparations on some of her jumps, but I will never understand why she gets so low GOEs on her Lutz and 2A-3T-2T in the free, compared to the other skaters. Those were quite the cracker in her last skate, even though the programs were flawed.
Omg, please So Youn! Show us what you're really capable of. Show everyone who did not place you within the top 6 at CoC (including myself) that you deserve to be noticed!
Oh well, like I said before, I have no more expectations (or maybe I do....

Ditto to all the above... Good luck So Youn... you have my fav programs this season... so much potential to show a newly maturer aspect of femininity you are developing.

Disaster of a Short Program. But on a positive note, I am so relieved that she's brought her Flying Camel Spin back to lvl 4. :agree:
Also her step sequence is on a level 4.
Now I just need her to go clean and get all the levels. Then all shall be forgotten.

Jumps aside, that was better than the performance in SA. Flying camel looks sooo much better, as did her step sequence. Shame about her layback though - but that's probably a fluke. Really hope she has the attack to go for those 3/3s...

Also does anyone feel like Soyoun needs a new FS dress? It's detailed and beautiful but I really hoping for something simpler....Maybe like reuse her R and J dress? Rearrange the crystals and dye the whole thing blood red? I'll be honest and this will sound very superficial and petty and downright vain of me but I just can't get into her LP with that dress. It's like her dress is the missing piece of the puzzle to me.

Let’s wait. ATS is quite keen on getting feedbacks from Korean fans. Many Korean fans were amazed at her FS dress in SA. She got rid of her long sleeve. Some fans had pointed out it. I think they keep changing her dress. I hope it turns out well.

Don't understand why her PCS is always so low, it was not a perfect skate, but not disastrous either. And her technical score is pretty high. I wonder what it would take for her to get at least 60? :scratch3: Looks like the judges are not very fond of her.
Regarding her dress, I think it would look better if she got rid of the "pikes", more clean cuts instead. At least for me it's the pikes that is a bit distracting, the rest is fine.

The situation with her PCS is getting ridiculous now.
I am wondering whether they deliberately hold her back otherwise how else can one even begin explain the disparity from one day to the next? especially after a better overall performance and program that is suited to the skater more. It is a program that is designed to get her PCS as it is clearly about displaying superior musicality and harder to interpret music really well, which she delivered despite the fall. I am now simply speechless.
If she had at least equalized Zijun and Karen in PCS (which she is 1.5 apart from before), she could have been 5th in the FS. I don't care what the judge say, but her PCS shouldn't be 10th place, and the 3 points gap from 9th place is too artificial contrary to what she delivered out there.
Really nice for the Chinese organisers to invite her for the Gala over many others ranked above her. I know people wanted her to be consistent like Rika to justify the PCS, but this is rather convenient if you ignore the fact there are many others including World Champions who has never even had a clean FS in their career never had this sort of problems with their PCS.

KSU is just stupid. They don’t care about figure skating. They really have serious issues in Korea. There even a fight among short trek skaters. They’re just afraid figure skating got more attention, endorsement and more senior positions in their organization. Many fans are suspicious KSU must have been connected with what had happened at sochi. Even in COC, there was a Korean judge. Hahahaha. But the lowest PCS.
