What is his excuse going to be this time, he blamed a broken blade for his poor olympic performance at the olympics.

Who is British pair I keep hearing about they were 11th at Euros and are really young something like she is 18 and he is 21. :agree: It seems like with those guys and the KERRS (who just rock) are ushering a return of British skating. It is about time.

I know I excited for worlds who else is? Pack the board, I want to see a pack of people tommarow on the board during both rounds of mens qualifying and the pairs short!

Worlds 2006: The overscored/overhyped/heldup by the judges for too long decided that the olympics were enough, and have stayed home with the eastern block, but it does not matter, the field of competitors are even more talented and hungry for glory then they have ever been before. The event will not only be fair but EXCITING b/c if worlds have taught us anything it is that anything can happen.

It's not just the 9:15 skate. He has to get up very early to get his gear together and eat a light breakfast, and then travel to the arena. Not easy. In Wash DC I remember Joubert was first to skate at that hour and he looked haggard and skated poorly. The Second Group had Evgeni and Tim and they came in gold and silver. So I think there is an effect at that hour. The Qualis count and it's important to do well.

No skater should be expected to skate competition before noon. JMO.

Not only that, IMO the top ten skaters should get a bye past qualifying. Now that the Cop is in place it's almost pointless to have a qualifying round. Maybe anyone with less than 35 or so points shouldn't make it.

If there is anyone who knows that you are what you make yourself to be, it's Sasha. And I hope her "buddy" gets the message. That man is the best at bringing the "feminine touch" to the men's arena IMO.

And Brian complained last year about having to skate too early in the morning in the qualifying round.

They should really scrap it.

The issue is if you do that, you would basically HAVE to make the top ten or so skaters from last year's Worlds exempt because there will be basically no incentive to do well at all. So IMO, don't count the qualifying round but if you place in the top X, you get to skip it next year.

As far as this "skating early in the morning" waah boo-hoo routine. THIS IS WHAT THESE PEOPLE DO FOR A LIVING. IF ORDINARY AVERAGE JOES AND JOESEPHINES HAVE TO DRAG THEIR BUTTS OUT OF BED AT UNGODLY HOURS TO HAVE TO GET TO WORK 5 DAYS A WEEK 52 WEEKS A YEAR, I SOMEHOW THINK THESE PEOPLE CAN MANAGE TO DO IT ONE OR TWO TIMES A YEAR.

I thought in DC the fire alarms in the hotel in which the skaters were staying went off several times in the middle of the night before Men's qualis, giving a big advantage to the afternoon group.

There is one facet of the qualfying round not mentioned: the audience. After what I paid for an all seasons ticket to 2003 Worlds, I was THRILLED with the day long qualifying rounds and the chance to see so much skating.
