I assume that Lysacek and Lambiel will pass him, but I seriously doubt if any of the other remaining skaters in group A will and third in his qualifying group (though B looks like the overall stronger group on paper) is pretty respectable after the judges beat up on him in the olys SP.

Lysacek's score shows how embarassingly overscored he is. A 73 for PCS and only a 77.50 for Lambiel with a perfect performance. The quality of Stephane's skating is so far superior to Lysacek, Lysacek with two falls should be about 15 points behind Lambiel in PCS, in fact he would be if both were American or both were Swiss and had done the same performances, luckily for Evan he has a U.S passport and the full backing of the USTA. Lambiel has to be out on his own the same way the Lithunian and Bulgarian dance teams have over the years, but atleast he knows he earns all his medals, his federation does not buy them for him.

That's interesting. I wonder why they would split up the two men's qualifying groups and put the pairs short program in the middle. That doesn't make very much sense. That must mean that the coverage on CBC tonight won't have any results from the second men's qualifying group, because the coverage ends just as the second group is taking the ice.

Canadians are doing well early! How nice to see Pang/Tong skate so well (I believe that's the best short program of the season besides T/M's scores) and I'd like to see them win this Worlds if they are retiring afterwards. Petrova/Tikhonov struggled with their throw (she two-fotted the landing, didn't check it) and that SP may not be good enough for them to medal just because their LP is usually not as strong. I expect the Germans to come back strong in the LP, though.
