If Slutskaya skates well, I don't think it matters where her draw is. However, I think if Kwan and/or Cohen skate early, the judges may be slow to give out high marks in GOE and component scores.Mathman said:Hockeyfan, why do you think a late draw will be more beneficial to Michelle and Sasha than to other contenders?
I wonder where he gets his information? He says he read it, but doesn't say where.VIETgrlTerifa said:According to this:

Kwan's SP is Capriccio Espagnol, not Capriccio Italien.

Is everyone sure it's not Espana Cani? Which is the one Lysacek used for his SP?VIETgrlTerifa said:If it is Espanol, then it's consistent with mkrachs2006's report of a Spanish SP. They also wouldn't post it on the list unless they were sure it was right. You can email the people and ask to get more clarification.
In I12gosk8's report of Kwan's SP music, he/she said he/she got it from a coach who wasn't sure of the exact title. One could get easily confused with the two.

Actually, this is not what he meant. This poster has said he has not heard the music himself, and that he was told Cappricio Italien. He only said that he likes Cappricio Espanol better than Cappricio Italien.VIETgrlTerifa said:Since this whole thread is going by i12gosk8's post, then it is officially Cappricio Espanol. He said that was the music he was talking about.

I know others have said this music has been used before, but I don't remember it at all. Has anyone used it since 1992? If not, that's quite a long time in between uses. I think that would be acceptable.
Actually, I think the judges might be more likely to give Kostner higher PCS now that she has that Worlds bronze--and the competition is in her home country. Not that she doesn't deserve good PCS, but those things just might be factors in a close competition.hockeyfan228 said:I don't think a "surprise" edge will be reflected in their PCS
I hope it's true. The costume possibilities alone!Joesitz said:Of course Espana Cani, would have her come out as a Matadora. That would blow everyone's mind.
I think the risk factor is different under the NJS. Under ordinal judging, if you blew your combination that was a huge required deduction for not completing a required element. So you didn't dare try a triple-triple.Fossi Bear said:I wonder if Michelle will attempt a 3/3 in the short program this season (if she's consistent enough with the 3/3 in the LP). More important, will it be worth the risk?

But now, I think the penalty is no worse than just, you don't get the points that a successful jump would have brought. Since the points are cumulative for both programs, doing a triple-triple in the short is a way to squeeze an extra triple into your overall point total.
The biggest downside is, if you mess up you might not make it into the final group for the long. In principle, this shouldn't matter any more, but it does.
