This year's programs suit them well, they are comfortable performing them and I like them a lot, but next year they'll need to do something more complex IMO. And I hope they stay away from the Hip Hop option in the SD (in fact I hope most of the teams stay away from that, I can barely think of anyone that could do it justice and it wouldn't end as a messy, try-hard trainwreck...). Anyway, perhaps something by Frank Sinatra in the SD? He's done a few really nice bluesy tracks:For the FD, I've always wanted someone to do a really intense, all-out rendition of Schubert's "Death and the Maiden" String Quartet: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NKEHosQf2k
It's really great, haunting music where you could also do great contrasts between dramatic parts and rather soft, gentle parts in the score with clever editing. Marina tried this sort of "death dance" with C/L, but IMO it didn't work because it's just not in their wheelhouse as performers. OTOH, I think it could really work with Viktoria's and Nikita's strengths: You've got your basic plot already in the title and it would play to Viktoria's rather more delicate, soft performance style while Nikita could go all sharp and dramatic in contrast.![]()
