Hey, I say they did better than expected here. Not exactly by TES (since they got lowballed a bit here) but by controlling their nerves. If anything, I expected more mistakes here just due to quick prep for this competition. Don't forget that H/B skated lights out after them and the judges definitely saw a difference in quality. If anything, this will fuel them to really grind themselves on the levels. Their free dance is looking much more cohesive but it has its kinks to finesse. I would love for them to work with ballroom dancers in their down time just to work on the feel of the tango and to also build on their chemistry. I will admit that I am a bit bummed on their 4th placement but it is what it is. They have feedback and now it's time to get those levels a-workin'!

I will try to take it easier!! It is sooo disappointing. They have so difficult step sequences and only earned level 2 at NHK. Hope they can fix their levels until Nationals!

& maybe next time thwey need some simpler & slower choreo where they can skate wide & show their deep edges+soe wow elements


yeah I admit I started to think of a Morozov choreo
& some ppl note that Marina choreographed the programm for the abilities of NA ice dancers & SK may not have that tech
+ it was an interesting comment on sportsru that they're keep changing the tech of pair skating based on the coach - in NA Epstein taught them 1 way & now with Volkov they're doing it another way
Im really not a FS tech person & dont know how it may influence actual skating but its clear that they should look into the future & symplify the choreo based on their abilities

Yes, maybe you are right about simplify the choreo and setting strong highlights with elements. I think a FD like HB doing this season would suit them beautifully! I hope they will go in this direction next year or try a waltz as FD!

& from 1 POV its good that they strive for difficult programms & not taking an easy approach but if it doesn't give them an advantage over the rivals & make them lose to US #5 it means that they try to swallow too big of a piece of cake figuratively speaking

All in all it should add to their experience overall anyway! So even if they're not at Worlds/Euros I hope this season is another step to make them realise what is their style, how to better the tech, how to make the dance more comfortable (no fast steps with lots of tiny blade moves)
They're still learning & compared to someone like B/S who skate together for ages they still need time to search & find.

I guess I'm the opposite. They will be competing for attention against Wea/Po....and for other things. (looking at you, Morozombie ) I don't want any possible repercussions to happen.

I doubt this rumours so so much considering th breakup & his new wife-dancer so for now I can only laugh
Yeah if its indeed true (like I see it 0.001% happening) there are obv drawbacks (I doubt Vika is in danger tho))) but at least they will have programms that are within their abilities

Uhhh they really don't want her doing anything to the choreo. She hasn't done any good work under IJS, nothing really relevant since Drobiazko/Vanagas retired for the 1st time in 2002. Her choices for Gorshkova/Butikov, the only recent team that she has coached, were just tragic by the end https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSjUlY5qS90 and they kept regressing and being passed by other teams. She's never shown that she really understands how to work IJS and get teams to maximise levels. This feels like a desperate move rather than a considered one.

Honestly, everything in Russian Ice Dance seems desperate these days. Bobrova/Soloviev are the only viable, fully competitive pair they really have. Everyone else, may have potential (except SB, imho) but needs a lot of work.
