Who's here for the summer?

And what skating topics do you discuss or would like to discuss?

I have an honorable intention to stay tuned till the ISU congress in June but, in eight years of my membership, I have never been active in forum off-season and I must say that the forum looks very quiet. What is your experience here? Is it worth staying tuned or thread ideas should better be saved for high season?
As soon as the GP assignments are out, the forum will come alive! It is usually around mid-June. So any day now! But who knows, with all that is going on with Russia the ISU might hold a bit longer with the assignments....?

Can't wait 😁

Does that mean that she left her moose at home?:slink:
Let me know if anyone needs ribbons and trophys. I have 37 years of them in the basement and when Galpal leaves me, one way or another, I am gonna have to fill up a construction dumpster with them....LOL!
Last weekend...HIgh in Trial, High in Trial, High in trial....yada yada yada. Still, I remain disobiedient... heck, no one will marry me... :(

Did I miss something? Wasnt Russian banned at the ISU conference until further notice?

I'm LOLing at those who didn't think the summer would be worth sticking around for.

They'll come back and think:

What the heck! Malinin doing 4As like it's routine? Eteri exploring coaching gigs in America? Davis and Smolkin to Team USA? China giving up its GP? Age changes?

Summer goes apace. Time in general flys at my age....wonder when we will get a new Friends of Figure Skating head at USFS? No ex skaters ever take this job...pay is too small . Wanna know when tickets go on sale for Four Conts.
Just back from Idaho, WY, MT, SD. Off in three weeks to Oshkosh Wisconsin in nice air conditioned car. LOL!

Big Horn Mts WY, Cowboy cafe, Dubois WY. Petting fuzzy cows, National military vehicle museum, Dubois Wy. 450 vehicles from all around the world. Most asked question. What is that roller thingy on the front of a half track? On the trail of Lewis and Clark, ID. Grand Tetons.

All my current lists are updated. I am working on Major Competitions (Euros, North Americans, Olympics & Worlds) prior to 1999. Currently have gotten from 1960-1987. I am not going to post until I decide how far back to go. I need to have the table in place first and then add each event as it occurred.

I posted in another thread that I have three options :
1 From the beginning of skating - could be cool, but information and links are scarce, plus Walt has already done this.
2 From the Post-World War period 1948-1998 - There is more video, but still sparse. But hey can I really not include the Dick Button and the Golden Age of US skating?
3 The TV age from 1960-1998, when networks around the world captured skating better.

Cast your vote for From the Beginning, Post-World War or The TV age if you have an opinion. I am likely to ignore the first choice at this time (Sorry Sonja Henie & Ulrich Salchow).

Everyone cuts the pie differently.....some here would be amazed at how BIG skating was in Hollywood for a time, for instance. It would seem some skating on Youtube can not be economically upgraded and enhanced to the current level of HD quality....more is the pity. Some, like Fumie's 2001-2 season highlights are there, and we are talking 20 years ago....Network and personal recording quality of course of the 1960s-70s varies from watchable to "how sad"
Now thankfully we are in the age of the DVR where I can record an event, edit out commericals and ? and watch Marin Rika and Kaori anytime I do the dishes! And make DVD copies of the shows for my collection. DVD when played through a upconverter player are not bad...

The first lists are up...
Major Championship Videos 1947 – 1998

Some of the events from the 1980's can be put in order one of two ways:
1 By order of finish - this can always be found in the Wiki link. It is my default if I don't know the order.
2 By start order (no spoilers) - I personally love this if I can do this. It does take longer.

Any preferences, leave me a comment
