I'm wondering which figure skating falls everyone thinks are the worst.
For me, there are three that really stick out:
Totmianina/Marinin 2004 Skate America (they are one of my favorite teams. So strong and elegant even after that fall)
Prokuronova/Stefl 2006 European Championships in Lyon (I cannot believe she was able to get up after that crash)
Woetzel/Steuer 1994 Winter Olympics (that scared me so much. I can only imagine the pain in her stomach and her rib cage and her chin. OUCH!):boohoo:
What do you guys think?

Falls by numbers:
Laetitia Hubert at the 1992 Olympics LP. She fell 4 times in that one program and I thought by the look on her face, she was going to cut off her program and just leave the ice . . . heartbreaking!

Falls by severity:
Totmianina/Marinin at the 2004 Skate America LP . . . what a frightening fall!

Dubreuil/Lauzon at the 2006 Olympics OD when she fell on the rotational lift. The saddest moment of the Olympics after Michelle's re-injury and withdrawal.

Midori Ito crashing into the camera and falling outside the rink barrier attempting a 3Lutz at the 1991 Worlds LP. Despite her bruised ribs, she went on to skate her LP, but that was a scary, historic moment!

Zhang/Zhang at the 2006 Olympics LP attempting the throw 4Salchow . . . I was very surprised that she was able to carry on despite what looked like an EXTREMELY PAINFUL fall. They still went on to receive Olympic silver medals.

Wotzel/Steuer at the 1994 Olympics LP . . . frightening fall that matched the frightening/chilling music of the film Basic Instinct.

Gregory/Petukhov at the 2007 Skate Canada FD warm-up . . . such a sad moment that unfortunately ended their season.

Can't remember the year or competition, but...
Obertas and Palamarchuk (a total knock-out for him, scary)
Kumiko Koiway, her blade cut her leg
Plus T&M and Z&Z already mentioned

Doug Ladret and Christine "Tuffy" Hough in 1986 during a practice session. Doug hit a rut and fractured his skull while saving Chistine from a nasty fall.

One of my favorite Canadian teams. She was true to her nickname "Tuffy" - she was fearless.

was it Dallas US Nationals where Johnny had the fall and ended up withdrawing after his restart? That just looked painful

Dick was a total dipwad in his commentary for that (and completely biased as he said Johnny should not have quit, then Matt Savoie rips a seam in the cuff of his pants and Dick is all 'it's so dangerous he should stop now' UGH!)

all those pair falls just look terrible. I think that after watching any of those a girl would never want to try pair skating. (or a boy for that matter).

If I remember correctly, 2006 worlds in Calgary, Johnny had a painful painful fall right before his step sequence, and I wanted to cry for him.

The fall I am most familiar with would be Tatiana and Max's.

However, even though I didn't see them...How about the one the Hartsell's had. He cut his head I think. This was I guess 4-5 seasons ago, maybe longer? The seasons blend into one another for me.
And how about the one that the young guy split his skull...I think it was in practice and he had to quit skating I believe. This was also several years ago and I cannot remember the name...He was a fairly tall guy and I think a pairs skater, for the US...fairly young, too.

Dubrueil and Lauzon's '06 Olympic fall/loss of hold was also heartbreaking if not terribly serious as far as injury.

theres also the side by side camel spin incidents with elena berezhnaya / oleg shliakov and jessica dube / bryce davison

ooo yes, that freak accident was just painful to watch...

I've not seen lots of falls but from those I have, the fall 2004 from Totmianina/Marinin at Skate America was really the worst.. It was so horrible! Especially because I'm a big fan of Tatiana and Maxim!

Brasseur/Eisler 1994? He was lifting her into a no-hands star lift, tripped as soon as he got her up, so she came crashing down on her ribs.

Oh, yes, this was the one I thought of...it wasn't during a performance, it was during practice...pairs team from the US...Laura Handy and Paul B (his last name escapes me at the moment but it did start with a B)...he almost died from that skull fracture and in fact, was permanently disabled. Very sad...

Oh, I remember now...Paul Binnebose.

Oh!!! The pain of Michelle Kwans toe catch at the 2002 olympics... I STILL can't watch that competition...

was it worse than sever falls by couples? absolutely not. but the pain... the pain...
