Would You Rather...

I would rather see a show where they jump and are cute. The orca whales are cute too. I know how to swim but definitely not a favorite activity unless it’s winter 🥶 diving in icy water 😂

Time to go to the theater to watch ballet! Would you rather go watch Swan Lake or Don Quixote?

Has to be Don Quixote because it would be new to me. I read the book as a grad student at the Centre for Medieval Studies, I've skated to the overture from Man of La Mancha, and sung the part of the Don's niece Antonia on stage. But a ballet version is not one I'm familiar with, although I'd probably recognize the music if it's been used for skating. Swan Lake is such a ballet warhorse.

If you were a nervous competitor, would you rather interact with fans off-ice during a competition or avoid the distraction of them?

Interact with fans! :dance3:that was an interesting question.

Would you rather eat a turkey reuben sandwich with sauerkraut or cole slaw?

My Amazon driver says cole slaw, please 😋. As a vegetarian myself with an allergy to all brassica vegetables, I wouldn't/couldn't eat either version, so since he just showed up briefly at my door I asked him. (He went away muttering "goldenskate.com" to himself.)

Would you rather have a steady, secure job with a reliable paycheque or freelance with occasional but higher-paying assignments?

I have a (so far) steady job with a reliable and high paying paycheque 😂 so yes, give me the reliable steady job and the high paying paycheque 100% I like structure!

Would you rather be in the exhibition (or competition, or onstage) or go watch any of these as audience?

Watch them in the audience

WYR travel in a camper or stay @ hotels when traveling across a country?

Hotels 100%.

You are in your mid 30s. Would you rather go back to doing something you were extremely good/talented as a small kid/kid/teenager/until mid 20s, or you rather keep doing something you started as adult, love it but don't think you have the talent or not very good at?

I LOVE fireworks 💥😻 I want to watch them in person whenever and as much as I can, and on TV too!!

As for the specific question above, it’s me. From 3 to 26 y/o I did ballet. Extremely good and talented at it. I started figure skating after retiring from ballet but I don’t think I’m very good at it nor have I the talent for it (I can produce results because I practice a lot, but it’s not the same as being good and talented) Recently I returned to ballet since I consider it better off ice training than anything else I’ve done for skating and in the short time I’ve been back, I’m already million times better than I am at skating. I won’t stop skating because I love it, but I need/must do something that I’m extremely good at it and have the talent, to feel satisfaction/fullfillment.

You have so many errands in one day. Would you rather go out, solve them all and only return to your home when you’re finished ( even if they are maybe with 1 hour or more time between them), or do one, go home, go out again, do another, go home, go out, do another?

Go out once and be done with them all, then come back and never think if them again. Definitely :)

Would you rather get a 2nd rate pleasure right now or the 1st rate pleasure which you need to wait for a considerable amount of time (by pleasure I mean anything you dearly want/like/dream of)?

I'd like to say I'd wait for the Big Pleasure, but I'm afraid what I'd really do is just take the little good moments as they came along.

(BTW, when I still had a car, I'd not only wait until I had several errands needing to be run, I'd list them and then plan a route so I made a circuit around town ending up at home with no backtracking en route. If someone said "Can you come back in half an hour and I'll help you then/have it ready/whatever" I'd say no, I didn't do return trips the same day. I have a friend who does the in and out and in and out all day and it would drive me insane. I've known her to get part of a meal cooking on the stove and call one of her kids to keep an eye on it while she jumps in her car to run yet another 15-minute errand and be back to finish stirring the pot.)

Would you rather have a lot of trees and shrubbery around your house for privacy even if they obscured your view, or have a wide-open view of the area where you live?

Excellent question and no easy way to reply. It highly depends on what it is, and analysis of probability of achieving the 1st rate pleasure.
If I want to eat something, I will eat something NOW even if it’s something boring/old from my refrigerator (2nd rate pleasure) vs getting dressed, going out and driving somewhere for delicious food (1st rate pleasure) because to me in this case, speed and satisfying my wish immediately more important than quality.

If it’s being onstage with a smaller part or not perfectly rehearsed NOW (2nd rate pleasure) vs waiting for that gorgeous , longer variation (or skate program) = 1rst rate pleasure, I adore being onstage perfectly rehearsed for a longer time, in several months, I’ll take the second option 100%, rehearse it until I can do it with eyes closed even asleep. For this, to me, success and fulfillment more than time/speed.

Would you rather use a solid soap or a liquid soap in the bath?

Always use solid soap in the tub and liquid at the sink. (Lavender for both, please .)

Would you rather live next to a well-kept public park, not overly crowded, that you could walk and sit in whenever you wanted, or have your own garden you plant and maintain yourself?

Oh, I HATE bugs/insects, live in a city where is extreme heat 80% of the year, so I prefer living away from any of that, so the probably that an insect comes inside my home decreases 😂
I have a few flowers on pots but make sure no insects are on them, even when I put them outside for sun. Outside my veranda is concrete only and I prefer a full view, no trees, nothing obstructing my view. No curtains either.

Would you rather have 24/7 climate control in your home and pay an expensive electric bill, or pay a cheap electric bill but indoors is hot?

Not really a question in Canada, where we have abundant hydroelectric power and it's a cheap energy source, especially in my province, British Columbia. I have climate control built into my apartment, but the climate in the Vancouver area is so mild I seldom need to turn on the AC in summer or the electric heat in winter. My electricity bill is a small fraction of what friends in other countries pay.

Would you rather train with other skaters around you and have your private share of a coach's time, or train privately in your own facility with your own fulltime, live-in coach (obviously you're very rich in that case) and never see other skaters in person until you get to a competition?

Jealous! 😂 I have climate control in my home but electricity is VERY expensive here!!! My home is not big (North Americans would say is so small), it’s a 3LDK and the electric bill reaches corresponding about 200/250 euros a month

Option 2 100000000%. One of the MOST frustrating things for me regarding skating practice is that I can’t focus because there are other people around me. For ballet, you take a studio room for your own practice, there you go, peace! And practice with music not afraid someone will come and maybe crash into you.
Having my own rink (doesn’t even need to be Olympic size), for my own daily practice would be a dream. Hate having other people around while I practice (of course onstage rehearsals you always have other people, but I speak of daily practice when you practice techniques over and over again, other people are so distracting)and never seeing other skaters would be perfect 🤩 (was talking about this with a rink mate yesterday who would also love practicing by herself and only meet us during events)

Would you rather receive flowers or food as present?

buy it is the only option for me since the only think I know how to do in the kitchen is search for food and eat it 😂

Would you rather go to a water amusement park full of tall water slides, trampolines and fountains or to hot springs where you only sit there and relax?

Hot springs, definitely! Sitting and relaxing in a quiet warm pool is my type of thing, ha ha :love:
Would you rather work from home or have to go to the office every day (any place outside your home)?
