Alba thinks Yulia will make the decisions, if so the outcome may tell us as much about yulia as it does about Eteri. Eteri has been perfect for Yulia until this year. By all reports Yulia did well in practice, her problems surfaced in competitions. This would make coaching next to impossible. Eteri's bond with Yulia doesn't make this any easier.

From what I can gather, that insider is some skater's parent. So not all that reliable, but not a totally random person either. No names though. So still very much a rumor. But I have to admit I love all this drama

I agree that ideally it should be her choice but if she continues to be funded by the fed she is going to have to accept what they decide. Maybe a new coach can help her fix her jump issues..edges and all. To me it's clear that she can perform the program and portray her role. Take a gander at any if the pictures on her fan page from Romeo and Juliet. There is always something beautiful inside ready to burst out. No coach can change this. Every issue this year was was psychologically related to confidence in her jumps. Maybe a new coach can bring her back....maybe not. I'm not overly attached to anyone except her.

And I tend to agree with you here. Funny thing is...I work with someone who was coached by Mishin in the 90's
Somewhere in the forum there was a link to an interview where Mishin expressed his preference of working with men over ladies. IIRC he said something to the effect that ladies are more delicate to handle. So I do not believe he would accept Julia, especially in her current crisis and with her strong-headed attitude.

As for Mishin, I don't think she is even thinking about him. So both are happy.

I'm not sure in english since it's not my first language. In italian sometimes stron-headed attitude means also a headcase. It depends from the context. 
The sad thing is someone like Mishin could have a good effect on Julia, and not only because of the jumps. Think about Liza, many people had already written her off, expecting she would be outstripped by the younger skaters. Mishin believed in her and stuck to her despite advice from others. And now she recovered brilliantly and is one step away of becoming the new number one lady of figure skating. This is the kind of coach that Julia needs, someone with knowledge and authority who believes in her and can calm her down and guide her through the crisis to become stronger than ever.
