The media has been especially invasive with her dating back to Sochi. It's cruel to think how personal matters that should be family matters are being exploited like this. When she disappeared and sought treatment it was about the same time that this "father" appeared in that first TV report. I also remember people calling him crazy and other names and I thought to myself....what if that is her father and people are insulting him how it might make her feel. I wondered if it may have affected her so deeply that she was seeking psychological help to face it and her struggles on the ice. I'm not saying that it is her father but just the mere topic must affect her deeply and bring up certain feelings. Deep and personal feelings. It's none of my business so I never really discussed it but I will say this as loud as I can. I don't think anyone should be trying to pry into any aspect of her life that isn't Ice Rink related unless she seems willing to talk about it. Have some empathy people and she's done plenty of interviews and never once wanted to discuss her father.
Thanks for expanding on the incident....I don't read YouTube comments and suspect people are going to say cruel things about her there. YouTube comments are likley the most embarrassing aspect of human existence. Someone called Gubanova fat on there yesterday....I should have known better.
I hear you Sam, you are 100% right. Unfortunately keeping the press out of the rink is equally important. First and foremost example is the infamous Averbukh, then all the rink rumors, ..., and within the last week this:
"Lipnitskaya struggled to accept anything other than victory, once leaving the arena rather than attending a medal ceremony when she came in second at a Grand Prix competition." Which tabloid printed this? Sadly, it's by the AP, part of an article about Yulia's retirement, read 'round the world. What was intended to honor her became the latest example of pulp fiction.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/spor...a169beb0953_story.html?utm_term=.a0166382302a The Washington Post is respected as one of two leading newspapers in the USA.
Such disgusting rubbish sends me into an infant rage. If the reporters had even an inkling of her character, they would know this couldn't be correct.
We can be sure that counseling was part of her treatment at the clinic. A crash course in fame tolerance was undoubtedly included. I hope she henceforth rejects any media she doesn't personally know, and turns to social media for communicating with her fandom. As she did with the most recent photo she posted on Ask.
https://ask.fm/Sunny_Lipnitskay Scroll down 4 entries to last February, when she thanked us for remembering her Olympic gold medal performances. That photo was taken at the clinic. It speaks volumes, the whole truth and nothing but the truth, there is nothing to add.
ETA Here are the facts behind Yulia missing the ceremony, from Yulia herself:
http://fsrussia.ru/intervyu/451-yuli...-shankhae.html . AP should publicly retract, revise and apologize. ... Thanks, LRK, I should've added this above.
