I think men’s programs are a lot riskier than ladies’ program. The COP mens’ programs are technically much more demanding and have much more risk than 6.0 programs. That’s why you can’t find any male skater today who is going to skate flawless all the time. There is a tradeoff between taking more risk and being consistent. It’s easier to be consistent if you skate to an easier program. So I don’t think you can directly compare the men’s consistency with ladies’ consistency. And I don't think you can directly compare the COP men's consistency with 6.0 men's consistency either. Right now, there are more consistent female skaters than male skaters, e.g. the Russian ladies. But would that automatically mean the male skaters are all mentally weaker than the ladies? IMO, not necessarily. If all the ladies are doing triple axel or quads and also do thousands of transitions in between, I wonder how many of them can be consistent.
Yes, I completely agree about the technnical difference about both disciplines, it's the reason of why men isn't as consistent as ladies. At the same time, every skater plans their own content, they decide how they are playing their game, so they know that they can execute everything, just like Yuzuru had both clean SP and FS practice sessions at GPF for example, his clean FS practice at Olympics, etc, but of course at the actual competition it's completely different. We see clean competitions from men skaters now too, just not as frequently as we see with the ladies. And we also see meltdowns from ladies, even if their technnical content is less, so it goes both ways.
