Yuzuru Hanyu: 2014-15 Season

I agree, with Yuzuru's skating right now, he possesses the one-of-a-kind appeal and charm that no one else has. For sure he can win over the rest of the field with 1 or 2 quads with a clean performance. ;)

Is it really necessary for him to add 3 quads? (the general public probably doesn't even see the difference between 3 and 4 rotations, points aside)

Right now, I don't think it's necessary, but, as it was discussed here earlier today, it very well could be by 2018. I guess he would want to be comfortable with a 3-quad program by then, and for that, he would want to start incorporating it now? :confused2: It wouldn't be a good idea to go for it for the first time during the Olympic season, that's for sure.

Side note: Yay for passing 1400 pages and 3 million views!! :cheer:

Worlds is being held in the TD Gardens which is an NHL arena. So the normal configuration is 80 x 200 feet size. When worlds was held in Calgary, wthe Saddledome has the capability of expanding to 100 x 200 by retracting the first two rows of seating which was done for Olympics. However for Worlds, they did not made the rink wider., it wasnt a requirment like it was for olympics. So, i suspect that in Boston, they might not even have this capability because i think TD Gardens is an older arena....so skaters may be stuck with slightly narrower ice surface.

I saw the 2014 US Nationals there. It didn't look like the arena could be reconfigured. On a positive note - the first row is right next to the ice & it was possible to sit there during practices.

He said kuyashi again...he is not happy with his skate and regrettable. Here is an initial translation that I found.

Just relaying a little more info from this article:

- He said that he is quite surprised at the season's best mark

- He said he was confident with the combo since he has been practicing it a lot and had not missed it at all since coming to this rink

- Orser was surprised at how much he had improved when he saw him for the first time this time around compare to the Worlds

"Recovering my physical condition [after accidents] wasn’t easy — this season felt like three years."
To shed a little more light on why his lutz combo seems to be problem in the SP, he said that in the Chopin SP, he only has three turns/crosses to speed up enough to get into the combo, and so having to do that on top of matching with the music, he believes he still hasn't master that skill set yet.

Yuzu's got to be the most handsome phantom ever!!!
I love how Yuzuru and Mura's phantom mask has a personal design of their costume on it!

About ice show thing, if yuzu finds ice shows fun and relaxing, which I do think is the case, then doing a minimal number of them won't really hurt, just don't do many crazy jumps in them like 4t-3a-3a or something like that? Just like how listening to music a bit to take a break from preparing for exams I guess?
The show itself is not the biggest problem BUT the moving from place to place and too many shows and events = staying in Japan too long, no tome to come back to Canada to train = late on the training schedule.
He has always been late to the training schedule for the last 3 years. Only at the Olympic he got some adequate training. I think this season is the biggest lesson for him. He knows how to arrange his schedule better.

Great post. I think you made a typo. It should be "he has already won the individual mens event at the 2006 Olympics in Torino" when you talked about Plushenko. But you wrote 2016. The top rank of today's men's field is a lot more crowded than in the past.

Thank you!!! I will fix!! 👍❤️

Yes you're so right... *sigh, let's hope he learns how to manage his time well this time

From the date stated in the tweet, it is posted today

I misjadged it as a latest photo, and posted here.
