Yuzuru Hanyu: 2015-16 Season

Not open for further replies.
Same here. Yuzu's 4S and Chan's 3T (popped 4T) had the same +GOE, that's something I just can't get over with.

After adding GOEs and bonus marks to the base values of the two free skates, Patrick gets +18.25 and Yuzu gets only +7.85. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

I just wonder what's happened with Yuzuru's 4S. He was falling all over the place with it, and now it's just soooo solid. The only thing diffrent I just spotted he have slightly diffrent rythm of 3-turn before jump and he is going now confident and calm for it when in past he sometimes rushed to it. Maybe he just needed to land it nicely on competition to unlock it or something :cool14:

I read somewhere (probably here, lol) that training the quad loop stabilized his quad sal? I don't remember if it was just fan speculation or if Yuzu actually said that in an interview.

Well, the B.ESP guys said that it was interesting that he had the same or a similar rhythm for both quads, perhaps that slight change made him get the timing and control.
Is this Yuzu? Still taking other people's hats, I see

Autumn Classic Medal Ceremony. 6:40, are they smelling their medals?

This is quite interesting, it appears that his stsq traces out a Yin/Yang sign on the ice? A fan was marking down his turns/steps and this is what they ended up with. Maybe someone can kindly translate what they said? Is it just a coincidence or was it planned? Balance of the spiritual and the physical, the good and the bad, the yin and the yang...SEIMEI??

OMG! we totally understand you girl (listen to the audio)

Anyone know who is he that don't want to let go of the boy?

I think he's Jun Hwan Cha's coach. At least I saw him sitting at Kiss& Cry with the kid and BOrser after SP.

Sano san is concerned about the step sequence that Yuzuru needs more movements (2:42)

This is the japanese video commenting each elements through SEIMEI, and step sequence, respectively.

Program overall https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNEEsd1se4o

Around 5:20, he explains about the step sequence. He says the step seem to lack the following two requirements of the four.
Use of body movements for at least 1/3 of the pattern
Two different combinations of 3 difficult turns

Step sequence https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gAnV8XJt0o&feature=youtu.be

If anyone is interested, here are the cuts he used for SEIMEI. He used the OST from both I&II. Its in Japanese though.

I have a number of little 1080 HD videos on my phone of Yuzuru at Autumn Classic, including more of the medal ceremony. I culled 15-second segments to Instagram, but there is additional material on some videos. There are also shots obscured by the people in the 1st row & other things that should be edited out, so they can't just be uploaded to YouTube. If anyone likes to make montages or gifs or knows someone who does & who would like to use this raw footage, message me. No piece is over 3 minutes, so I think I could just email them. Thanks.

This warm up clip was recorded by Yuzuruthepooh Mei: http://dai.ly/x3a1lb3
At 1:15, you can see Yuzuru was warming up and he saw Doug Leigh, Brian Orser's former coach, so Yuzuru ran to the old coach and bowed to him. How sweet!

- Программы олимпийского чемпиона Юдзуру Ханю видели?

- Да. Вообще программы других фигуристов — это дело вкуса, чтобы о них говорить, но программы Ханю мне понравились, особенно та, что в японском стиле. Это очень круто.

- Yuzu's 2012 WC Step Sequence Analysis .

Actually, this is the choreo sequence.

To have an idea the Chopin StSq is basically (it begins just after the triple lutz-triple toe and finishes with the spin https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xtL3a8vrj4):
Cross-over, rocker, cross-over, inside loop, mohawk+cross-over (a step called "the drunk bottle" in french but no idea of the english word ), jump, twizzle, jumps and toepicks, 3-turn, cross-over, rocker, counter, double rocker, stroke, rocker, counter, bracket, ina bauer, half-flip, mohawk 3-turn, cross-over, twizzle, mohawk, twizzle, counter, loop, 3turn..... and all this going into a huge spin.

- Shared by Asri @YHIFG FB in regards to the cross rolls in Seimei first stsq

I've got an amazing info from a japanese fan who analyzed this part of SEIMEI (@casa_blanca20's tweet)
Here's what she tweeted :
"Good morning. Is it his that slow step? He accepts movement of Kyogen and Noh. One of these classical Japanese dance has choreography called Henbai. With Henbai, Onmyouji steps on a demon with Onmyouji's feet and suppress the demon. It is a curse to remove the demon. Henbai tramples evil and is art of walk to call in good luck. It is the method of the characteristic curse of Onmyoudou. Onmyoudou, Onmyouji"

Translation
A partial translation of some of Nobunari Oda's commentary on Yuzuru's FS:

New Article

Basically, this article says that at Skate Canada, the media paying attention most is that Yuzuru Hanyu and Patrick Chan, as that will be their first competition together since the Sochi Olympic. Chan who rested for one year with Hanyu who competed throughout the last season despite the circumstance as the biggest highlight.

Yuzu’s Quotes
"If you cannot do it, practice until you can do it. If you can do it, then practice till you can do it perfectly. If you can do it perfectly, then practice until you can do it perfectly every time."

"I am me. I am neither greater nor less than Hanyu Yuzuru"

And his advice to younger skaters: "Efforts do not always result in better performance. But, I don’t want any of you to hesitate on trying harder. The mere action of trying hard will benefit your lives. By putting in effort, trying hard in practices, we, as a person and as an athlete, grow to become a better person for the society."

Failure or not depends on perspective of people. Failure is not the opposite of success, but a part of it. If you do not fail, you might not notice a lot of things.

I liked the advice he gave to his skater friend when he was in high school and she was in junior high.

出る杭は打たれるけど、出過ぎると誰かが引き抜いてくれるから頑張ってね
The stake that sticks out gets hammered down but if you stick out too much, someone will pull you out so hang in there.

I'm pretty sure it's a take on the old proverb "The nail/stake that sticks out will be hammered down." - which pretty much translates to "if you stand out, people will try to bring you down/If you're unique or do something unique, people will try to get you to conform to everyone else." Hanyu pretty much turns this statement around by saying that if you stick out enough, someone will take notice and pick you out from the crowd (in a good way). i.e 'pull you out.'" Sorry I'm not very eloquent in describing this lol.

This video I guess they're talking about Yuzu vs. Patrick at SC next week?

Another program about Yuzuru x Mansai.

Yuzu’s playlist. I think it still has all of his competitive performances and ex. There are sometimes two performances of a program, however, from two events since it was hard to tell which was best. If this is to show Yuzu to somebody who's not a fan yet, then I'd recommend the Chopin from Japanese nationals which I don't have. I put his Swan Lake EX next to his 2010/11 SP.

Yuzuru has Rilakkuma bear as a wallpaper for his tablet And Kikuchi-san's trying to get the right angle of it.

I found this. I think this is our first replica of 2015 isn't it? Or should I say replica of a replica?

New motto for this season's UA " For further evolution!! "

Another lovely fanart of the new Chopin [cr.]

➣ Seems like some people are missing the Pooh Rain, so here's another angle of that infamous moment

➣ And in honor of him doing a 4Lo during AC's, here is his 4Lo3A in 3 different camera angles [1] [2] [3] (cr/cr.)

Anyone could translate or provide a gist of this fanart, it looks funny

Seems like they are talking about his new Chopin costume, that will be better if these are slits instead of the golds. (if only there without exposure restrictions) ?

Look Brian, I can do this too. Plushy version .

Quotes
I adore his words in this video.

Challenging situations are the (main) drivers of my motivation.
Don't you think it would be boring if I held back what I could do?
That's probably not putting everything you have (into your skating).
As a figure skater, trying to perform my very best in any situation, is what I believe in.

Interviews
He did a detailed interview with the Ice Jewels magazine that was published recently, I highly recommend getting this magazine if you understand Japanese. Hopefully we will have some nice fans to translate that interview into English for us too!

Some topics he touched upon in the interview:
- overcoming his fear (from the the CoC incident) during the FS 6-min warm-up at NHK
- the impact of training on his own mostly in Japan last season
- learning to adjust his condition under different circumstances
- creation process of SEIMEI
- challenges he set for himself to become a better competitor << which addresses a lot of concerns we have here in the thread

Others
I don't even know what to say to this

"The only 'fall' worth celebrating and I'm going to celebrate the crap out of it!!!"

that precious moment when someone doesn't know who you are

I think I also read his tweet during Sochi where he replied to his friends who's talking about Yuzuru; something like "tweeted that I sit beside him in a plane and I had floods of girls saying I'm lucky" something along that line

Here are other links of the run-through, you could probably watch them at these links..

SEIMEI (SBS comparison). Ask and you shall receive

Here's the SBS comparison on DM, hopefully it won't get blocked there.

Sony owns the right to the OST and its being reprinted as a 2DISK release due to Yuzuru's SEIMEI, which caused the popularity to surge. Since its going to be a new release, they're cracking down on it. Its a double edge sword, his FS.

Fan Report
Come back from the practice session just now. It was a blast. What is this guy? When he skates, the aura around him can not be explained. He is focused, cool, composed, and so charismatic. No matter how cute and humble he seems outside the rink. On the ice, he is the king and he truely believes that he is.

After adding GOEs and bonus marks to the base values of the two free skates, Patrick gets +18.25 and Yuzu gets only +7.85. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

Unfortunately the goe were scored appropriately IMO... Yuzu was nowhere his usual quality, his landing were tight, the axis of the jumps often a bit off... But on the bright side as soon as he get more comfortable with his free and with gets back in competition mode (ie he skate with the same quality he showed us in practice) the difference of the goe will be in Yuzu's favor thanks to hi higher base value

I think it was during the interview with Matsuoka and Oda after the GPF last year where they were talking about this. I think Oda said he saw him jump the quad loop that summer and Yuzu mentioned that the loop was more similar to the salchow than it was to the toe loop, so maybe it did help.

Taking a look at the protocols Yuzu didn't get the usual high GOE for his 3A's and got negative GOE on the 4T+2T, definitely room for improvement to polish up the performance. Although, whoever gave +3 for Patrick's 3A must be smoking something. It was a good 3A, but I don't think it hit enough bullets to even be close to +3.

Page 1931 - 1940

Skate Canada SP Competition Oct 30

His 3A was perfect +3.00 GOEs.
But then he popped his 4T into a 2T, the solo jump must be a quad or triple, so it was invalid. Got 0 points for that.
Then, his 3Lz+3T got turned into a 3Lz+2T, he can't repeat jumping passes in the SP, and he had done a 2T before (even if it was invalid), so 0 points for the combination, too.

I don't like this rule about double jumps. The restriction about jumps should be just for triple/quad jumps.

In this fancam http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3bpm2h also can see him dealing with whatever it was on the ice before throwing it off the ice.. but I don't think that's causing the problem.. I thought it's some kind of trash or block of unwanted ice but I also am not sure. The fancam also included few mins of K&C and after (pretty interesting I must say if you wanna see his reaction)
And I think he's just marking the area by that pointing gesture (he's done the similar gesture before) and not intended to point at specific stuff.

look at this photo Yuzuru looks slimmer and humble to me ..
let it be nothing .. photo #1

Anyone know what Yuzuru are wanting to ?? #2

He said that “I want to my vest (vest ga hoshii)”. Btw cheer you up Pamina ×

Also I love his reaction at the K&C , it speaks volume about his attitude, just classy. So many skaters would just be devastated, specially someone of his caliber. Of course it helps that the scores are very close and the medals are all for everyone to grab but still, I love his attitude, he's always composed. He looked very accepting, dissapointed but relaxed and a bit sarcastic even (?) His laugh at his headcase was everything. Actually, this reaction is even better isn't it?

Pchan complimented Yuzuru's program, well, mostly JButt actually.

Skate Canada FP Competition Oct 31

This is the backstage warm-up before FS, including Hanyu-san's interaction with Mishin (you can hear Mishin telling him I trust you, I believe you.)

Mishin said something like this to Yuzuru:
"Sometimes things don't go as we want. But I trust you, I believe in you. You are the best, go and collect those points."

Oh my god such words from the best jump coach of all time.

Fun fact by sylessjinx@tumblr "The last and only other time a Japanese skater has landed a quadruple jump 3 times in a program was by Takeshi Honda at the 2003 Four Continents Championships. Nearly 12 years later, the feat was repeated by Yuzuru Hanyu at the 2015 Skate Canada International."

It seems I was not the only one who thought Yuzuru's fierce face at the end of FS looked like Ashura.https://twitter.com/hidetanmama/status/660782362746204160/photo/1

What happened was that Jeremy Ten was choreographing the finale and he asked "can anyone do the candilever? Yuzu, can you?" So then he did it. Then Liza said she knows how to do it too and did it. Jeremy then said "Sorry Yuzu I love you but I'm gonna go with her". Hanyu-san then jokingly kicked at the ice to demonstrate he is not happy.

Clips of the gala focus on Yuzu by Japanese TV. Totally different camera angle from the one streamed live.

- During closing

This https://twitter.com/momoko_ma/status/660588668529209344 poor Pooh lol or well actually Yuzu is just worried his baby will catch a cold. Look at that guy on the right side of the frame watching over what he's doing fondly haha.

Interesting short clip by TSN regarding the Japanese fans at SC; apparently there are 36 TV Asahi staff at the event and 500 Japanese fans! Close up shots of very well-made banners of Hanyu-san and the concentrated look of fans at the rink.

According to Asahi-Shinbun(whics is limited article);

Yuzuru felt that something was wrong with his pharynx and respiratory organs for thr past 2weeks, he had restricted amount of practice.

And to celebrate his silver medal, here's a large present. (4000x2800 large) . It looks bigger than the actually magazine scan and just as clear. I know its been posted but this is the cleaned version. Big thanks to LaylaHong @ weibo :o:

And one more

Can someone explain to me or point to me where I can read about how the skater can be qualified to GPF? Like how many points they need in two grand prix etc..

Just watched the Eurosport recording of Yuzuru's FS with Dutch audio. Some of the comments:

4S wham, not a cent of pain (= a Dutch expression meaning it looks effortless)
and bam!, 4T, what a start.
3F
oh, third quad in the kur, hand on the ice
3A, 1 T, should have been 3T
and another 3A, oiler, 3S
3 Rittberger (Loop, I think, but I'm more familiar with the Dutch word)
3L, pretty big fall

Yuzuru Hanyu, winning from himself, just like Tuktamysheva.
Oh, what an incredibly difficult program this is, with 5 jump passes in the second half [...]
Wow, it wasn't all perfect yet, and we have seen him skate worse free skates after a good short, and this weekend it's the other way around.
Started very strong.
Now, is he skating to the gold? Well, with this kind of score, that may very well be the case.

The Dutch commentators are usually the same two people, inc. Jeroen Prins (he also judges at ISU skating events), and a lady who used to be a figure skater, I think. They're not exactly Hanyu fans, lol, they always feel a bit too pro-European skaters for my liking. In recent years I've taken to watching Eurosport with the British commentary instead.

News clip and interview from yesterday. Before Sochi he always said P Chan is like the sun to him whom he 's been lookin up to. After SC this year after the FS and maybe after press conference he said " Since I met the Sun again, and see his light, I was able to see my shadow. He lit up and showed me my flaw and shortcomings and told me what are the things I have to work on to better myself. " I love his attitude and this is why I can always believe in him that he will push the boundary of the sports and be the ultimate champion. I am also happy that Chan's strong comeback, because that is what Yuzu needs to secure his place toward the next Olympic. He always needs challenge. Last year, he did not have one.

Here is the link, I hope it works. It is News Every

Maybe I am not the only one who thinks " :roll9: " reminds of this.

He looks 17 here....as compare to the above ^^^^

Holy cow, porcelain skin!.....love that colour on him

I remember someone complaining about cuts in Hanyu's costume, on the shoulder, in the Free during the Skate Canada competition on its forum.

Here seems to be a reasonable explanation, if this video hasn't been posted here already.
https://youtu.be/BRywIdU0BRQ?t=2m34s

Well said! I was at Skate Canada and it was an incredible experience to see so much of him live. He is such a unique character and athlete, and even more gorgeous in person than you can imagine 😊

I didn't see discussion of this previously but for you all that have seen footage of the exhibition practice session (or were there) at Skate Canada, Yuzu spent a lot of time on his own practicing jumps and various choreo. He very carefully examined the ice after each jump, seeing his moves, gesturing and talking to himself, nodding his head. I've never seen a skater with that kind of attention to technical details. He is probably running all kinds of obscure equations in his head, maybe not even realizing it. And he never stopped working, even as most of the other guys were just standing around. I don't think he knows how to 'relax' when he's on the ice. I have complete faith he's a genius and will do unimaginable things in his career. I can't wait to see!

ANAN Magazine
Regarding ANAN magazine cover, according to this, it will include a personal message from him, 16 pages, big poster, and off-ice shots!

First skater to be the cover of ANAN. Other athlete, yes some, only the good looking very popular ones mainly soccer (football) player and always very sexy set up shirtless or not

"Expectation" more than these but it can turn out like this ........we never really get the Bathclin bathtub commercial

anan photoshoot???? sexy bed hair look?????????? https://twitter.com/nagi12071113/status/661483766582345728

I don't get my hopes too high. Who knows? They would make THIS the cover .
SEXY--right?
I Wonder how many copies it would sell in the first release?

Weelll, if all else fails--there's always last option

Here's the full video of the TV program that was shown yesterday

Lots of interesting unseen shots! And he really has very sensitive ears! I wonder if anyone who is fluent in Japanese can help me...what did he say about the venue in Sochi? Something about how he noticed the sounds in there was one way so he practiced the programs with that kind of sound?

In the program they said that A year before the Olympics when he went to the Olympic venue in Sochi for GPF(?), he noticed the venue has a lot of reflection sound and hard to time the jump and other move in sync with the music beat. So he edited (not himself but asked the professional to do it I guess) the music to have similar level of reflection (or echo 反響音)sound at Sochi venue and practiced so he get can sync with the music. They are praising his sense of differenciationg the sound. For me I was again amased by his professionalism or well thought preparation.

He carries them around all the time. He has a pair for practice, a pair when he's on the airplane, a pair for relaxing at home/hotel, basically they all have different purposes.
It's also said that during the 2012 GPF, he noticed that the sound in Iceberg Skating Palace echoes a lot more than other stadiums. So he got a pair of headphones that recreates the sound effect at Sochi in preparation of the 2014 Olympics.

If you only look at the individual GOEs for each elements, you won't see anything unusual because most judges gave +1's and +2's, and only occasionally gave +3's. You can always justify the +2's if you are being more generous and check more bullet points. What is unusual is the number of +2's vs the number of +1's judges gave to Patrick compared to other skaters.

Most skaters receive a mix of +1's and +2's. It's rare for all judges to give +2's to either jumps or spins. Different judges value different features/qualities of a jump and a spin, e.g. some judges value heights, some judges value the distance, some judges value flow. Some judges are more harsh than others. Especially nowadays, many judges will not give a +2 to a jump that does not any difficult preceding steps/transitions/entries. So, in general, it's very difficult for one jump to satisfy all judges' preferences/values. Even if the skater has textbook jumps (without difficult steps/entries/transitions), you will often see only 3-4 judges give +2's and 5-6 judges give only +1's. Often, only jumps with difficult steps/entries/transitions and good qualities like height/distance/flow will get more than 5 +2's from the judges.

If you look at the protocols, most skaters (other than Patrick) receive +2's from only 2-4 judges, and +1's (or even 0) from 5-7 judges. But Patrick received +2's from 6-8 judges and +1's from only 1-3 judges for all of his jumps and spins. Basically, on average, Patrick received 3-4 more +2's from the judges than other skaters. None of the Patrick's jumps have difficult steps/transitions/entries and none of Patrick's spins have difficult variations/entries. (If the judges are as strict to Patrick as to other skaters, they won't give him that many +2's. Only 2-4 judges will give +2's and the rest give +1's.) These extra 3-4 +2's will raise the average GOE of each jump/spin by 0.4-0.6 points. The similar thing can apply to steps (+3 instead of +2). There are 13 elements in the program, so the overall GOE will be inflated by at least 7 points.

Similarly, you see 3-4 judges that gave Patrick 9.75's and 10's for the components, and that will inflate the average PCS by 3-5 points.

Based on my observation, Patrick's GOEs are inflated not because many judges gave him +3's, but because there are a few more judges that are more generous to him than other skaters and gave him more +2's than +1's. Those extra +2's boosts the average GOE by a significant amount. Same thing applies to the PCS. There are a few judges that are very generous to him and gave him extremely high component scores that boost the average PCS.

The home inflation is much bigger than I expected.

I don't think it's a big deal that Yururu didn' t win his first GP. I just wanted to point out that home inflation is very significant. That's how Javi received higher GOE for his spins and steps than Yuzuru at GPF last year.

The home inflation was EXACTLY what I expected (unfortunately).

Nobody looks but check out the panel. Pay attention to who is judging. And calling levels and under-rotations. It all matters and factors in. It is why Skate Canada is the single least desired Grand Prix amongst at least US athletes when asked their preference on assignments.

Thanks alia jackson for updating. :ghug: It must have been hard combing through almost 100 pages. I'll try to get help out when I can, especially since the season's starting up again :hap93:

And thank you to everyone else as well! :points:

OMG guys we are a hilarious and crazy bunch. I was laughing and tearing re-reading the posts for the last weekend, I've captured some below (there were a lot more) and the amount of emojis used are too many to fit in here. I hope by now our heart rate and blood pressure are back to normal.

OH MY GOD GUYS I'M SO NERVOUS!!!!

Renewing the prayers and positive energy to our beloved Yuzuru.

This worried Auntie is wondering why Yuzuru wasn't at practice this morning??

I keep my expectations low.

I'm so excited yet so nervous

Just. Breathe.

My palms are already sweating

He is on ice now!!! Ganbatte Yuzu!!!

Concentrated and praying to God for his victory with his protection. Yuzu go!

What a night guys what a night...

I am shocked think my bronchitis worsened until I lack the air ..

Just Get through it Yuzu! I'm going to concentrate hard on Work so that this stuff does not linger in my head.

I am seriously way too young for a heart attack. I hate this. I'm getting a new hobby like right now. Something like collecting buttons.

Watched this live and I think I shouldn't have...I wish him all the best for tomorrow

I will even die from it ...and I cannot with that bed now with bronqujite and asthma ..

who do I have to pay to go back in time and make this go "not well" that would be a big improvement

Well tomorrow is a another day. Let's wish him the best!

Alright guys. Who are the brave ones that will watch FS live ?

I will, but I will expect very little. And Pray very hard.

I will have to get my head checked for masochism, but I guess I will

The bright side is that the single jump that DID count, the 3A, he got GOE +3.

Not me, my heart can't take it.

Omg my poor heart.... it's almost 3 am here and I can't sleep...

Not me, I don't think so. Or perhaps I will, go do something else while Yuzu skates, and then come back to check the scores...

well I'll take my medicine and try to sleep ..

Probably not, I was too nervous to watch the SP tonight and purposely went grocery shopping during the time frame just to miss it.

Yes, I will keep the Faith!!! Go Yuzuru!! May you skate like the Brilliant Yuzuru Hanyu will all know!!

I'll try to watch it live tomorrow. If he has the courage to skate it then I can gather enough courage (wine) to watch it.

Well I'm not watching it live tomorrow... every time I do I swear all my favourites screw up

I am waiting for mad Yuzu to show up.

Ok I just really hope Yuzuru is amazing tomorrow... Do well tomorrow Yuzu!!

I will just expect on ANGRY Yuzuru tomorrow. Go for it, Yuzuru

Changed my work schedule around for it so heck yeah I'm watching! .....wanna see fierce demon Yuzu take the ice!.

Come on, let's keep the faith on him. It's Yuzuru we're talking about, he doesn't stay down.

Go yuzu!!! Just do your best and relax!

Okay, Yuzuru! Good luck tomorrow! You know what you have to do!

I hope him making strong come back tomorrow!! GO Yuzuuu. You can do it!

I did a tarot reading with my deck for Yuzuru tommorow since that seems to be a thing now: good news: three card spread gave me Ace of Cups (good omen for new beginnings), Magician (same, but also means full use of one's power; and also it must be connected to Semei), and six of pentacles (things taking a turn for the better, usually with gains, but maybe in this case points!)

Hope he can fight back in the free and put himself in a good position to make the GPF

I think all of us who are in the North American time zones and European time zones and possibly Asian time zones should all get some sleep now. We're all worked up and maybe sleeping it off will make it better.

Hoping the mysterious foxy magician will emerge victorious from an epic battle tomorrow. He has it in him. He'll do it.

He can do it! Let's cheer each other and spread the positive vibe around!

I'm so glad I would be on flight during FS so I don't have to suffer(much) from stress waiting for his turn.

I'm crossing my fingers for the free though but watching Yuzuru really is nerve-wracking.

As usual we are just at the beginning of a wild roller coaster ride...GOOOOO YUZUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

After that short program... he is cornered, under pressure, his back is against the wall.
But historically, it is times like this that he produces some of his best skating...

I believe he will be on fire today. GO YUZU !

Seimei has so much potential so...go kid!

So I woke up with a massive headache, and thanks to the intermission music last night I now have a Miley Cyrus song playing in my head. This whole figure skating thing is not good for me.

My first thought was that he tucked his shirt in properly and that's why the love handles didn't stick out so much anymore. But yes, didn't look quite as weird as last time. (although if the sacrifice was to get a less weird costume in exchange for a jump disaster, I think he should get a refund ASAP . how many more hours until it's time for my blood pressure meds?)

Yes, I won't complain the costume any more , just please give the score back to my precious yuzu ~

Also I love his reaction at the K&C , it speaks volume about his attitude, just classy. So many skaters would just be devastated, specially someone of his caliber......Ooh the drama! I live for FS drama!

I posted this on my IG last night. Hope the cuteness will destroy the tarot card readings. https://instagram.com/p/9fQYzJMTmr/?taken-by=cheerknithanson

I'm trying to know what time I should be doing other things because I feel like I jinx my favourites every time I follow a competition live

It was a long night of worry, but I believe in their resilience. .. Good luck to our dear Yuzuru.

He is practising now !

I'm calm, I'm calm, I'm calm, I'm not gonna be sick, I'm super calm
and I'm totally not hopped up on cold medicine, that would not go well with the drink that I'm gonna need later

Praying, praying, praying and praying.

Let's just form an emoji circle and hope he does well enough to earn a spot in the GPF :ghug:

He'll be fighting today. But if I'm going to watch him struggle live, I'd rather it be here than at Worlds in a few months.

I'm getting really nervous now....I hope he finally settles his mind for the competition and regains his concentration.

I'm sooo worried now....

Gambatte Kiddo you can do it

I have faith in him.... Go Yuzu! We know you can do it!

Gooooood....I was intending to wake up 2 hours later of Yuzuru's Lp and then...BANG! I woke up 10 minutes before. So after reading comments, I'm going BACK to sleep.
back to sleep;).....back to SLEEP...back TO SLEEP...BACK TO SLEEP DAMMIT!!!!!!

I have confidence that he'll bounce back from this

Fighting yuzuru. We all support you !!!!

186!!! 3 quads! Only a single toeloop and a fall on the 3Lz, but wow!!!

... I may have some brain damage due to oxygen deprivation because I think I forgot to breathe in between..... but otherwise good, really good

My heart is racing so far. Very beautiful!

Staying awake past 2am was worth it to see that tbh Yuzuru was incredible. He was so so so tired but he fought so hard!

HE MADE IT, HE MADE IT! :yahoo:

I have Ice Network, but was too scared to watch.

now I can go to sleep .. no matter the placement...but almost died of heart

Omg I can't believe my heart survived! what i just survived??? I... Oh my. Thanks hanyu! and thanks everyone here for everything. I have sleep to catch up now

Yes I like that, like the warrior that he is.

So happy for his comeback :yahoo:

ok, pulse coming back to normal. great skate, great fight. And a silver medal makes sure that I don't have to completely freak out from now until December. I don't need that, my blood pressure has suffered enough these past two days

Well Yuzuru did better than I expected. I shouldn't have doubted him.

Well, my theory works, Yuzuru skates better when I go into Internet Black out, I guess I will go to the deep mountains for NHK

I'm just so happy right now....Well done, kid! Now go rest on a bed of Pooh bears.

Congratulations on a strong comeback. What a fighter he is!

...I was so nervous and after SP I got a little breakdown so I was just laying in bed lmao I also afraid to check twitter and this forum...

My heart was ridiculously beating during his performance

Now I can go to sleep happy

I can finally breathe again.

yup...and I'LL watch a marathon of HORROR movies then. Dying from horror would be better than dying from nervousness

I missed both his programs because of work ...I was so aware of each passing time today and had to constantly remind myself to focus with work.

After 1,5 gut-wrenching days I'm ready for this thread to be fun again.

I think my heart stopped several times, but oh gosh, how brilliant was he....excuse me while I go breathe into a bag now to try and slow my heart down..

Owatta!...It was such a stressful trip .... Seriously, I need one week rest.

alright guys one more :ghug: for the stress we've been through today .

I do think he is capable of more beautiful jumps than the ones at SC, which is so exciting because that means there is room for improvement and to grow, and that is something he himself always look for (take-away lessons?) after each competition. Now he knows he has the ability to do three quads and almost clean (darn that lutz!), I think it should give him the confidence that his training paid off and is heading in the right direction. I just want him to stay healthy and positive until NHK! :luv17:

His SP, though, by this point I really don't know what to expect. I doubt he will change the layout, so I wonder what is Team Cricket telling him to work on as far as the SP goes?
