Yeah I was a little surprised. I mean, I wasn't really expecting 4A this week but I was expecting 4Z and/or another quad. I have mixed feelings...on one hand he seems SO focused and relaxed and prepared and healthy which is awesome. He needs to be focusing on the process rather than the end result and he needs to be authentic in order to skate his absolute best, and it looks like he's in that space mentally, so that's good. On the other hand, I hope he is bringing enough of his competitive spirit and hasn't just resigned to 2nd already. That competitive spirit served him well at his last nationals and the olympics. I'd feel more relaxed if he's saying something like "I will win" like he has before. Although I understand a lot has to go right for that to happen. I just hope he skates for himself but still also has that competitive spark, because that can help him perform even better.Going by his layout, is he banking on PCS giving him the winning edge? His BV isn't enough on its own.
From the recent interview, I got the impression that his aims this time were to do something stunning for his fans, secure the spots for the Olympics, and get away safe and healthy: given that he knows how the judging is these days, he may not be as focused on winning as in previous years. As I said earlier, if he podiums, he will create a record in itself as the only man since 1980 to do so 7 times.Going by his layout, is he banking on PCS giving him the winning edge? His BV isn't enough on its own.
IMO taking in account all his training difficulties he Is aiming to skate perfectly clean minimizing risky elements. He never skated clean in the last big competitions ( wc19, gpf19 and 4cc20).Yeah I was a little surprised. I mean, I wasn't really expecting 4A this week but I was expecting 4Z and/or another quad. Latest practice, a partial stream of Yuzu's runthrough.
