So? PCS are commonly complained about in pretty much every competition here. Satoko got lower scores for every program component- SS, Trans, Perf, Choreo & IN -compared to both Ashley and Anna. I don't think that's right and so do a lot of other users. They're our opinions.

There were transitions in her program. Watch it again.

Which ones? There's a spread eagle into a 3Lo and a bunch of 2fted skating. Nearly every single one of her jumps is super stalked. I actually like Ashley; but those PCS are a joke.

It's not about "saving" her, it's wanting the marks to accurately reflect what was put out on the ice. Of course, that's obviously too much to ask with how judging actually is.

Actually Satoko reminds me of Yukina Ota much more than Suzuki.

I nearly forgot how good Yukina is until you mentioned it . I've just realized that both Satoko and Yukina share the same coach, hence they both have such poise and musicality.

Is it too late to expect Miyahara to have a growth spurt or at least some further muscle development? She's just not getting enough height to really get great GOE on any particular jump, no matter how well she executes them. A bit of a growth spurt might do wonders.

There's good firebird, and firebird that looks like it came from Project Runway. In the larger scheme of things, it doesn't matter.

Well, there's far worse firebirds than Anna and the list is quite long. I think she has done a decent job.

Given the fact that she is not as much supported by the fed as other skaters of her generation (Anna herself said they considered her skater level B), she is trying to grab every chance she can. That's a great spirit IMO.

Ashley skates faster, but comparing their step sequences suggests to me that it's not because of superior edge quality. She also doesn't display a wide enough range of skating skills in her program for me to credit her with a higher mark.

I, too, had forgotten about Yukina Ota....but isn't this also Suzuki's coach (and I miss Suzuki a lot, but Miyahara is amazing/refreshing)?

Eh, Pogo is over-rated on PCS and even though she lands the jumps, her technique is way sloppy. Plus Pogo doesn't have the speed and polish exhibited by Satoko who indeed had the skate of the night. Pogo was also over-scored on PCS in the sp. I think Ashley should have had even higher PCS in both segments, and end up with a win overall, with Satoko in second and Pogo in third. Alena was too tentative on her jumps in the fp, but judges were quite harsh on her.

Hicks has always had amazing speed and huge jumps. She's trying to improve on presentation, but she still lacks connection with the music and the audience. If Hicks was Russian, her poor presentation skills would probably be overlooked, and she'd get more PCS for her strengths.

I don't know but it's very true........I have been to Russia and there are Beautiful Women everywhere!!!!! I'm sure I walked into at least 5 lamp posts staring at them when I was there.

Anna is gorgeous, the only really serious issue are her spins.

Ashley every bit as gorgeous as Anna on the podium. Satoko is adorable but looks about 12.

Well you might as well call me bad because I liked it. There a clear case of everyone assuming that their opinions are the absolute truth when judging by the comments we have a clear range of opinions. Some people on this board have mastered the way to critique without being critical, while others sound like all they want is to tear a talented (any talented) skater down.

Agreed with everyone who thinks Satoko's PCS should have been higher than Anna's. A jumping clinic Anna did put on, but her spins?!?!? and no emotional connection or passion. Much better than Radionova, mind you, and I don't dislike her, but Satoko was magic tonight and no-one can sell a program like Ashley can.
