2015 Russian Nationals Mens FS

Ha! Hypocrite! Yesterday I said that Plushenko deserved his marks because of how inflated Kovtun was, and you called me an idiot. Today, you're scrambling around saying that Kovtun deserved his marks because Voronov was inflated! How is that any different? It's not. At least the judges gave a fair result last year. This year's is anything but fair!
Kudos to you.

Kovtun just wasn't experienced enough at that stage to have all that reponsibility placed on him.

Nope, this is an unacceptable excuse. Artur was also 17 the first time he went to Worlds and he came away with a medal - something Kovtun, even at a weak post-Olympic Worlds, has so far failed to do!

My Sportbox.ru died, as well. But ESPN3 still up.

You aren't missing much. Petrov just took another big spill.
 I love him, but maybe it's best I don't see this right now. Still in mourning for Sergei's title and Artur + Kostya's free skates.

In this "weak" post-olympics worlds top3 skates Gachinski wouldn't be in top3 either :laugh2:

They're inflated, of course. But they're virtually the same to me in PCS. Both of them stalk their jumps. It's not like Kovtun has a ton of extra transitions.

I agree. Voronov could have won (as the virtual tie shows).

If anything this makes their showdown at Euros more exciting.

FYI Kovtun lose the FS to Voronov by 6 points which is just about right to me. If Voronov hadn't two footed his quad or had the axel error, he would have won.

I'm frankly surprised Kovtun got "only" 3 points higher PCS than Voronov. Compare that to Plu getting 95 PCS and 6 points higher PCS than Kovtun last year with a far more technically deficient FS compared to Kovtun's FS last year, than what Kovtun delivered today to eke past Voronov - he still did a quad and two axels (inc. 3A+3T).

If we rearrange Kovtun's layout, it's as though he doubled a 3S (and a messy spin) and still did one quad, two axels, two lutzes.

I'm still waiting for Artur next season. He can make it.

Me too, Alba. I still have faith. I will never lose it.

Which is probably why I'm bawling my eyes out at nearly 4am.

Congratulations to the new Russian champion - Maxim! ♥ I was so nervous during his free programme :D But he made it! I am so glad, because I'm not a fan of Voronov or Menshov at all. :/ Congrats to Adian Pitkeev, Alexander Petrov and Artur, too. Well done, guys!

God, it's all so depressing...poor Sasha. Poor Kostya. Poor Sergei. Poor Artur. At least Adian got a medal, good for him.

Not sure why anyone engages with the broken-record Kovtunbot, but I think I will start using the ignore feature for the first time...

Remember when I said Kovtun has a 2 fall advantage in the LP? Yup. Rus Fed's pecking order. I hate it too. Anyway Voronov is definitely going to both Euros and Worlds. Menshov's Euros slot, I dunno. Rus Fed likes Pitkeev a little, they might send him. But it's hard to say because internationally, Adyan's presentation just cannot cut it.

At least someone is happy. :)

Yeah, if only Voronov had done this or hadn't done that... but even with the performances as they stand, I say Voronov deserved to win.

Plushenko lost the title, didn't he? I don't see why that's condemned and this is not.

So how does it feel to see him gifted the title and not earn it?

With that virtual tie, I'd prefer Voronov to be the lucky one  - Euros are goiing to be very exciting, hopefully with a lot of good and clean performances.

He didn't fall though. He doubled a quad and had a messy spin. And Voronov himself made errors on his second quad and second axel that would have otherwise given him the win.
