2015 Worlds Short Dance March 25

How did C/B's twizzles get level 4? And why do you leave out the tech controller is AMERICAN? There is also an AMERICAN judge on the panel, but no Canadian or French judge.

The tech specialist is Canadian FWIW. I can't remember who has more power.

Don't agree with the judging, but enough harping on that. I'm just thankful that we're done with the Paso. I can't take it anymore, I need a break from the Latin dances and I usually would never say that, but I've had enough for now.

TS and ATS are the ones giving levels. The controller only interfers if TS and ATS disagree. I am sure there was some disagreement in this competition.

Now I'm curious to see if anything will come out of that error for the Shibs. That would be nice for them...

I hate to blow your mind, but C/B got the best levels at the last Worlds too. It's not out of nowhere. They are a technically good team.

I meant "angry". I know you were not literally angry. :biggrin:Frustration maybe the best word. :)

In any case, you were mistaken. There was only 1 minor stumble from Ruslan.

I don't think I'm even frustrated, just didn't agree with some of the judging. But then it was pretty much as anticipated, apart from surprisingly high scores for C/L.

I guess YMMV in what counts as a "stumble", I might be too critical ;)

It's interesting to see the Shibs starting to get scoring more in line with their skating but still getting ranked low. I would have had them in first. Especially throughout the first half of that dance they were spectacular - but I suppose if you don't hit your levels...

I almost wonder if Igor's statement about C/B hitting level four was his way of doing PR and it worked. I'm not educated enough in ice dance to know if they should have gotten their levels or not but they are the only team to get all level fours and this score now puts them in third for highest ever SD score.

I think Capellini and Lanotte will have a hard time staying in third. Their free dance is not very memorable and they will have a hard time holding off the French.

I still think it's anyone's game among the three teams that have been in talks for the gold since the GPF. However... Igor's right, it will come down to levels, and when that's the deciding factor, it pays to have him on your team.

I'm still hoping the Shibs can pull out a top 5 finish at least. They are probably going to be very close to C/L in the free dance and I bet they'll have the edge over I/Z.

Oh honey, don't try to reason with a Conspiracy Theory On A Tear. It's not worth the effort.

Just sayin'...

How did they get Level 4's on the twizzles? Because the Canadian tech specialist awarded that level. I'm not pulling up the protocol to look this up for you, but my recollection is that the GOE for this element was not high in comparison to their other elements or in relation to the other top contenders. My memory might be faulty, but you can look it up.

The tech controller doesn't make the call. The specialist does.

Again, the difference in scores rests with the steps/pattern KP's. Do people even read the protocols?

Watch C/B twizzles and than watch the Shibs twizzles. Than watch both programs concentrating on the skates of both teams and then tell me C/B should be placed higher in TES than the Shibs.

The tech controller doesn't make the call. The specialist AND assistant specialist do. And Controller brakes the tie.

Corrected. Nice try.

Wouldn't it bump them up to the last group?

What does a T stand for in the KP assessment? I can't remember.

Timing. Basically, that they got hte key point but were not precise in timing IRRC.

The funny thing the levels weren't bad. I mean they didn't get all level 4s, but there was no level 2s (which W/P got on one sequence) and they got a level 4 on one of their paso sequences (and maybe level 4 on both if the error turns out to be correct). They just didn't get the PCS. They had the lowest PCS out of the top 6. If the error is corrected their TES goes up to 36+ and that would have put them only behind C/B, C/L and W/P.
