Evgeni Plushenko

And here's Plushy's side:

I think our Australian fans will be very happy.

OMG! I did see this article last night but I had to go to bed so I didn't have time to read it, but eeeeeeee! Snow King in Australia? Oh, I hope so! I think it would be successful, the Disney on Ice shows we have here are always well attended.

As for the Fashion Show, I couldn't help laughing over the fact that despite it being for a Winter Collection, Plushy was wearing shorts...reminds me of what my brothers use to do in the middle of winter, although there's a pretty big difference between winter in Australia and winter in Russia!

This is from the longer version of her interview:

- You still have not answered the question, what makes you interested in the score sheet?
- Character. I'm a perfectionist. I've always loved figure skating, I'll deal with it as a child, and when I met Eugene when we started talking to him, and then I became his wife, I set a goal to figure out how to actually arranged this world that my husband loves that he lives. I was wondering. And now I'm arguing with Lakernikom (Chairman of the Technical Committee ISU Single and Pair Skating), and in these discussions I stand on an equal footing. I go to foreign arbitrators, please clarify for me why that or another skater placed third or fourth level of one or another element, they are surprised, but happy to explain.
Thanks! So she is really interested! :)

And here's Plushy's side:

I think our Australian fans will be very happy.

Oh, thankyou!

I am trying to temper my excitement. It may be bad Google Translation, but the way I read the sentence is that they plan Japan and China and he acknowledges that Australia is eager to see them - which does not necessarily mean he plans it here. (I am probably being overly pessimistic out of disbelief. :p)

(I wonder how he knows that...*starts looking over shoulder*)

Finally catching up on things here...

The way I see the Yana situation... she's not a figure skating expert. For instance, if we dragged a random person off the street and made them watch Plushenko's Vancouver performances against the three medallists at Worlds, it's very well possible that they'll prefer Plushenko. He skated with no mistakes, and his charisma is undeniable.

What I do find upsetting is her assertion that she checks the protocols, understands FS, ect. But let's face it--she's not saying anything more bizarre than stuff we find on the forum (US ladies should've medalled at Worlds, Liza's 3A is UR, Elena Radionova flutzes ) Her comments about the Russian guys are actually fair. And to turn things around--if we got Plushy to comment on fashion, would he do a very good job?

At the end of the day, words are just words. Yana isn't anyone's coach, choreographer, or judge. She is not hindering any skater's success.

Snow King trailer: Umm, maybe the commentary is a little busy, perhaps? Lots of names/adjectives. But the visuals are stunning and speak for themselves.

I am trying to temper my excitement. It may be bad Google Translation, but the way I read the sentence is that they plan Japan and China and he acknowledges that Australia is eager to see them - which does not necessarily mean he plans it here. (I am probably being overly pessimistic out of disbelief. :p)
I wondered about that too. But at least you guys got a mention, even if it's only in the context of "there is interest." He didn't even talk about Canada.

I was angry with Yana. I had no time to bring the article, and tell my opinion. She is not expert, I don't understand the journalist. Why asked her???????????? She is talented in many things but I would like to read Plu's opinion, not Yana's!! I believe she loves Plushy so much, but that is NOT reason that she acts she understands the FS!!! She said many stupid things and she became ridiculous and Plushy too!!! And she was proud of this intervew! She recommend it on her Twitter!!! She thinks said many smart things! BUt, no!!!!! I'm angry, even now! Poor Plush, sometimes I believe in those opinion, Plush's weakness are the women! According to some Russian fans opinion Yana wants to Plushy compete in 2018!! Well, maybe I believe in them...Stupid interview!!!!!

Okay, I am sorry about this...Please don't take this personally, I know how much you care about Evgeni, but I must confess, I don't think it is right to say things like this.

Yana's opinions are hers and one can disagree or agree or consider "ridiculous"--all that is fine. So they are not objective-so what? I look at the skating fans on this board, and I look at the so-called experts on skating, and I see plenty of things that I disagree with, or things that just seemed to me to have no basis at all. And all that is under the cover of "objectivity" or "just being honest here" and of course claims of understanding figure skating and therefore the implication that they need to be taken seriously. To be honest, I believe that for the most part, people are not objective. Are fans so insecure that they think that some statements of hers is going to make him "ridiculous"? To be completely honest, I would expect this sort of thing more from haters.

As for considering competing I know that people are always claiming (never mind how they think they know) that somehow Yana pushed him into it, in 2010, in 2014, or somehow that it is bad for him. That is nonsense. It is simply not something a person can be "pushed into" by another person. Evgeni himself has said this many, many times. And now--he says that he has been "asking himself this question every day". Will it happen? Who knows. Maybe not. But I believe it is fundamentally because of something intrinsic within himself. It is not something I understand, myself, at least not to any real extent. Which is why I do not say that he "should" or "shouldn't".

And as for Yana, she has gone through vastly more with him and done vastly more for him--orders of magnitude more--than any one of us have or can imagine. And she has been right plenty of times when many fans have been wrong. I confess, sometimes I wonder if fans could perhaps keep in mind a bit more the fact that we do not know better than he himself what's best for him. Maybe, sometimes I even wonder if fans could keep in mind a bit more the fact that perhaps most of us do not understand him nearly as well as we'd like to think. Certainly not nearly as much as Yana does, whether or not we think we understand figure skating better than she does. (This last statement is not actually in response to anything you said. It's just something I've been thinking about a little, generally speaking.)

Do you remember the conversation we had on the official forum at the end of December 2013, after the Russian Nationals?

Plushy's interview: http://evgeni-plushenko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6&p=87319#p87319

Evgeni Plushenko: I have not seen long ago such a mess in the men's figure skating:
http://www.sovsport.ru/gazeta/article-item/791571
...

Quite recently Russia was shooked with his statement: "Can you imagine, until 2018 a lot of guys went, but Plushenko still perform."

We met immediately after his return from Shanghai in the "Gostiny Dvor", where the legendary skater traditionally went to the podium with his wife Yana Rudkovskaya and son Sasha on the fashion show of a new "Odri" collection.

And Zhenya again confirmed, that about 2018, he was not joking.

- Zhenya, in the winter you said that you still not missing official competitions. Maybe at the Worlds, where you again felt this atmosphere, something stirred in your soul?
- Well, how i can say that I miss the ice, if I every day almost never leaving the ice. I train, I participate in the show, but regarding the competition - no, perhaps that time has not yet come. Now, to be honest: I looked Worlds...

- Sadly?
- Why sadly? My wife Yana said in an interview for your newspaper a lot of her emotions, but I will say nothing. I will not anyone praise or criticize, I will take a neutral side.

- That is, the seventh place of leader of the Russian national team - it's okay, you think so? When you competed, you do not think so, is not it?
- It should to decide skating federation, if they are, or not satisfied with that. Fans... And, above all, the coach and the athlete alone. The only thing I was glad, of course, for Sergey Voronov in the short program. I was sure that he could get into the medals, to be third. It would be great for him, a huge victory, unfortunately, did not happen. I also cheered for my friends Yuko and Sasha (Kavaguti and Smirnov). But sport is a heavy story.
I'm truly happy for Liza Tuktamysheva and my coach, Alexei Mishin. I'm always, in general - for complex elements. Axel with 3.5 turns in the short program! Liza performed it brilliantly, and she and Alexey Nikolayevich are great guys, because they risked. On the other hand: what they could to lose? On the contrary, it is necessary to go ahead, to conquer, to take, to chew this medal, and all turned out good for them. So, I'm very happy....

- So, thanks to Tuktamysheva, her triple Axel and the tension which she's created, became more interesting to watch the women's skating, than men - that's the paradox.
- No, to me and the men was interesting to watch. But to the women, I have now just a special kind of attitude, because my coach Mishin is there - he's my second father. And Liza, of course, it's a girl from our team.

- But how you perceive, what is going on in your "grounds"? No one clean skating, came to this, that Olympic gold medal was won with two falls, at the world championships it has become common place. Falls spoil all the impression, they are able to kill the most brilliant program.
- I have not seen long ago such a mess, especially, in so great athletes. Yes, I was very surprised that almost no one athlete skated cleanly. This's sensation, here it is - a sensation. About the places, occupied by our skaters - it's the norm. There is no such a paradox. But, the fact, that the falls spoil the impression - i'm agree 100%. But there is the judges. I'm skater, what can I do, why I should discussing about this? There is ISU, there is ISU the president. He must understand what is happening. There is Federations, committees... They should thinking, whether is men skating on the right path.

- Do not you thought, that men skating kills inadequate complexity, this pursuit for three quads...
- Such complexity? The same people doing quadruples, just there is occur blots on the eaiser elements, and among other things, they do not skate fast enough. But two quads was done a long time ago. Three quadruples jumped even Timothy Gable - also long ago. There is nothing incredible. Three quads, two quads... This is the norm. The complexity lies in the other. Figure skating has become complicated due the spins, steps, this is true. But because of that, there is necessary to train! Apparently, somewhere they do not enough work, but somewhere, on the contrary, do something extra (too much work).

- Does Yana Rudkovskaya have the right, when she said that you are quite capable, and can win with "the Vancouver's set of"?
- Well, it is Yana' the opinion. Can I? I can many things to do. Or maybe I can not. I want to leave a big question. Ellipsis. More precisely, a few questions: "Can? I can not?". Life will show. Why do I now to run somewhere, to hurry. I already said repeatedly, and I repeat: there is a desire to continue. Need a little time out. Need a break. To heal to the end all my injuries. Recover. Live a little bit different life, to live in a family, with children... I train every day.

- Your 18 triple axels of 18 in training, already become the talk, a legend...
- This is training. There are also video from Gala exibitions, where I jump and quadruple in nearly the dark, just like in the early years, and Axels...
Now I am preparing new programs, I will travel to the sports "Oscar" - flying to Turkey to play golf on the five-day tournament. Yes, I am enjoying, enjoying in my new life, in which there is not only figure skating. Releasing a clothing line "Odri" - basically, this is Yana's ideas, I something tells, but almost do not interfere - she understands these things much better than me. Although, in the future, I want to fully develop my direction in sportswear. Tracksuits, sneakers - yes, I am interested to create something comfortable, and unlike the other designers. But it will be then. But for now - returning to your question - I have the desire to return to skating, and this is a very serious desire.

- And in 2018, many will finish, but Plushenko will still skate?
- You think that I was joking? I do not rule out, that by 2018, many of the current skaters will leave. And I can still skate.

- Can you still something new to do in figure skating? You will agree that it can become only a real challenge for you, because one more medal ...
- Definitely! Definitely something new i need to do! Some new quad... Only thereby I can fight - with a new quad, maybe with some new cascade, which may once I have already present. With the new solutions in the images. Naturally! Otherwise, carry on career is meaningless. Of course, something needs to be changed. There is ideas, how and what can be done. First: there is a desire. Second: now is already health. I just have until end to rest - to see, to taste.

- The next season you will still do not come back?
- I do not want, and i'm not ready to talk about it. In May I had planned the show "Snow King", we plan to show it in Japan, China, Australia also very much wants to see us. We have established a European record. On my show «Kings on ice» in Poland, came 22,000 spectators. More gathered only in Japan, on free program in Saitama at World Championships, a year ago. So, for now i will more skate in the shows, completed some other things, and then - I do not rule out, that I will not return.

- In which image, Zhenya? Alexei Mishin not accidentally calls you "Shakespeare" of figure skating. You have already expressed on the ice, it would seems, everything.
- The images has already been so much: and "Swan Lake", and "Bolero", and "Sex bomb", and "Asisyai", and with a scarecrow i skated - what else there was not. During my career, a lot has been done. In this regard, for me is complicated - what else can I do, to not repeat? But now I've found some good music, working with Nikita Mikhailov. I really like him, as a specialist - young, with some fresh, original solutions. And one of the programs will be Spanish.

- Now, when is allowed music with words, in front of you are new opportunities. Have you ever wanted to skate under Vysotsky?
- Under Vysotsky? Yes... I want to. Really want to skate under Vysotsky.

I will answer you Whitebamboo :)

*anxiously chewing fingernails* When do you think we'll know for certain? May is not so long away, they must have the venues booked, if they are coming...

I doubt he'll come to my city, though we have had ice shows before. We're just not big enough to justify the expense. But Sydney, or Melbourne - oh, I would pay anything to go!

Whitebamboo!

I calmed down. I may be a bit overreacted and I was unjust with Yana. I'm a fan of Plushy, and I like Yana because Plushy loves her and she loves and supports Plushy. So I'm greatful to her, but sometimes she is too much, sometimes she annoys me. Sorry, If I was too harsh :slink:

I don't know which conversation was you mentioned. Can you help me?

I am sorry, maybe I sounded harsh and irritable too...I guess, I was just thinking of the times when we all had our doubts--and in the end, we were wrong.

I've also been thinking about some other things...After Evgeni's first spine operation in early 2013, I remember a Russian fan, very emotionally and obviously because she was upset and worried about him, wrote to him on Twitter, saying how horrible this is, why do you continue, it is because of Yana, and something negative about her. Evgeni replied, very briefly in one line, and his reply stuck in my mind. He said, "You don't understand". It was a very restrained answer, of course, but as far as I remember, it was also the closest I've ever seen him come to rebuking a fan.

Later in the summer, when he was trying to train again, things were incredibly difficult, and I know that some of his fans don't even want to think about how difficult it was. Later, when Evgeni was able to talk about it, he always said how grateful he was to Yana that she never let him give up. She was the one who went through that with him. Not anyone in this thread. I also think there are a lot of things they haven't said, which we do not know.

I think that perhaps, Yana is in a different position regarding him and figure skating than people on a skating forum. As for so-called "expertise in figure skating"...Well, maybe I am hesitant to say it here, but personally, I don't feel it's something really so sacrosanct or even necessarily so well-defined. (There wouldn't be so many controversial results or an argument after every competition if it were.)

More generally, maybe I just feel that people are generally somewhat limited when it comes to trying to understand other people. At least for myself, it is very important to be aware of and accept my own limitations in this regard. Yana is probably as different a type of person as can be, compared to myself. But then, so is Evgeni. I've run up against the limits of my own understanding again and again--but those are my limitations, not theirs. That's why it has been such a learning experience.

Sorry, maybe I'm just rambling again...

Huh, I guess it automatically detects where you are and generates the language? Try clicking the "EN" on the upper right corner.

Okay, thanks, that worked...

Hmm... I wonder what the "Shop" will be selling... ?

Awwwww, come on Plushy...pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease update hte schedule page...I'm dyyyyyyyyyyying!

There were special Snow King sweatshirts that I saw people wearing (with the Snow King logo - I don't mean the ones w/the Instagram cameras all over them)...so I'd guess sweatshirts, t-shirts, maybe phone cases? DVDs? I'm sure Yana has plenty of ideas. ;)

I watched the Snow King cast on the official site. I read Nikita Mikhailov's name as one of the choreographers. Nikita was with him on off ice master classes. In the latest interview Plushy said his new program's choreographer will be Nikita. What do we know about him? We know his skating career. and?

Nikita has a group on VK:

https://vk.com/nikita_mikhaylov_figureskating

He's a performer for Elena Berezhnaya's Ice Theatre which produces ice shows & supplies skaters for shows. I'm not sure if he has another title besides that. He also seems to do a lot of master classes and coaching for Mishin's camps & things like that, and also choreography, although I don't know of any programs we would recognize, off-hand. Also, he's cute. :o:

edit - this video Yana posted of Sasha in the room w/all Plushy's medals, and his music playing, is just too much (both figuratively and literally) :laugh2:
