i am so sad… i was thinking that young skater was showing promises… but making fun of a 3 time WC and two times OG medallist and SHARING it on social media is a huge turn off…. lack of humility…. lack of respect…. lack of maturity…. all these things lead to self-pressuring and crashing and burning…. there are so many ways to convey humour (think about the SHIBS videos) that making fun of one of the most brilliantly skated program ever TEB 2013 is wow…. let's see how this kid grows but he just got a red flag in my book of favourites… one less fan fest thread to follow

i disagree. there is a difference being confident and sometimes saying things like : what I see doesn't make me anxious when talking about opponents VS making parodies of other skaters programs. There's also a difference between interview competitive talk, like many athletes do... (look at track and field or hockey or swimming... lots of it happens) and doing a video that ridicules someone... how would you react if a young skater went out there, posting a video skating in a yuzu's alike outfit, with a headband leaking blood and falling 5 times in a program? that's inappropriate... and disrespectful... just as much as implying that chan's choreography is lacking or robotic when in fact, he moves so fluidly on the ice... you don't need to agree with me... but for me, what this young skater is doing is crossing the line.

Well, in Adian's defense, it's not him who's doing it but the friend he tagged (who I don't know if he's a skater as well). But yeah you're right, not nice, though that thing is quite old.

Actually, if this might help to view this video differently, here is an article by ice network posted a while ago where Daniel talked about the story behind his imitation of Chan.

My impression back then was that it's boy having some fun, instead of trying to mock Chan in a negative way. However, I do admit part of me was thinking "oooops, I hope he won't get into trouble because of this "

same difference... there's filming, laughter, tagging and sharing... that's just as bad no? if your friend robs a bank, and gives you half the money, you are just as gulty no?

Well, in Adian's defense, it's not him who's doing it but the friend he tagged (who I don't know if he's a skater as well). But yeah you're right, not nice, though that thing is quite old.

hehe that's what his coach told him to say... cause it was wrong and there's really no way to save it by claiming the boys were having fun i hope then this was a well-learned lesson for these kids.. but at the same time, the fact that it hasn't been removed from social media shows otherwise no?

Oh well, all I can say is he's not the first young skater that has offended fans of more experienced skaters does it make it right? No in theory. But, such is life

Some of us will support a skater because of their humbleness and great attitude, some will support because of the skating and can foregone other off-Ice matters!

i think sometimes it is social media that ruins it for a public persona... but sometimes, you create your own disasters.... these guys are young... they should just remove the post and agree that perhaps,even if intended for fun, it was not delicate... and move on... everyone makes mistakes... but it takes decency to fix them... that's what is lacking here.. but whatever let's go back to Chan VS Hanyu...

oh i don't think he cares... patrick has grown up to be quite humble and mature... his last interviews tell a lot about why he is skating and how serene he is with what he has achieved. he will be remembered as one of the great skaters of all time no matter what people say or think... and he is aware of that and at ease with what he is aiming for next: skating for skating, for the love of it.

I'm sure Patrick really cares about a video like this...

nothing to do with Patrick … my point is that it is wrong… for whoever it is… i think kids nowadays feel they know it all and are so much better than people who are just a few years older than them hahaha… anyways, this is going to make me sound like a fossil but it's disrespectful and i didn't enjoy it… i have a great sense of humour but there is a difference between laughing together VS laughing at others.
