I'm so happy for Rika in first after the short! She really deserved it. Yulia will still be able to overtake her in the LP, but I'm so nervous after all of her LPs last year :hopelessness:

I'm very surprised the judges put her above Julia, but it was deserved IMO. That programs is just all kinds of amazing, and she has improved so much. Can't wait to see what this will look like at the end of the season!
I'm still happy Julia decided to try something new in the SP, but she still looks quite detached from the music. Hopefully that will change with more outings of the program... please have fun out there girl!

Julia was so nervous in the kiss and cry area too.
Just "throwing" flowers (the bear?) together, very brusque, definetively not in a good mood.
On the other side Rika was so classy, holding flowers in a proper way, waving and smiling (she was very happy with her performance).

So Youn only had an issue with her double lutz...otherwise pretty clean...

Julia is still looking a little unsure. I'm not liking her acid-trip-from-the-1970s dress at all. I hope they reconsider that...
Rika OTOH is looking pretty awesome (as usual). Her consistency has doubled in the last two seasons and she's to that point now where you can pretty much count on her to go clean or at least 90% every time out. I think her dress is lovely and I really like the music and program (shout out to Akiko!). It was nice to see the judges give her her due here.

Saw the clip now. And I am at least happy (ier) now.
And I can now understand the lower TES even with single lutz seeing the likes of the lower level layback she usually goes for pre-season..

SoYoun just doubled her lutz, could also work on speed/flow but otherwise, good choreo and she also gave a pleasant performance with new style. Promising program for her.
Every time Rika performs there are complaints about her shoulder/posture (as expected), but I have got to say it has improved a lot since early last season and she is definitively selling her program. Thank you Akiko and yeah for Rika for being such a great student!

I loved Rika since the World's when she went Katarina Witt style Carmen ending. Ahhhh, that ending.
:So never really gave much thought to the posture.

I think that the definite element lacking for Korean skaters is "selling programs to audience." I think that all of them have pleasant programs, enjoyful to watch, and they don't really have a lot of gap shown in pcs in terms of basics compared to top skaters. If yuna still steps in to the training field, she needs to push them to the infinity to be consistent and some how "appeal" to the audience no matter if they have dreadful choreography.

I thought this program looks better and more promising than last year's short. Also offer greater artistic potential and development. She need to watch Yuna's fever 10 times a day.. eat alot of Latin American Chilli food, watch 'La Passion' Latin American Soap operas. Repeat! Bring sexy, sassy, vivaciousness with the latin spirit. Study Catherine Zeta Jones in The Mask of Zorror etc...or just anything with Selma Hayak in general
I can probably suggest her watch alot of Almodovar movies for inspiration but she's likely to be too traumatized skating flush faced lol!!!!

And as for Korean skaters. I really fear 2018 might be, well not a disaster but, quite a disappointment in terms of figure skating. I imagined there'd be girls with triple lutz-triple toe loop as their opening by now.
