I wish I could mute the trolls on the board somehow. Seeing unproductive comments that complain about the scoring without even offering reasons why a skater deserved a lower score is disappointing. I think those individuals just want to cause trouble.

Took another look at Patrick's program. The crazy GOE was not undeserved.

Frankly, I'm glad the judges are rewarding quality technical components. "Managing to stand a jump up" is not the same as "great jump!" unless you are Scott Hamilton commentating an event.

Also, there is no way that Nam should NOT have beaten Adam Rippon.

The kid had 2 quads and a 3A, none of which Adam delivered on his feet. Yeah, there is room to mature, and yeah that music was WAY too big for him, but it should be a scandal that he only beat Rippon on TES by 6 points.

The podium makes sense to me also. I do not agree with those GoE's that Chan got on TES, and some PCS, but in the end the standing is correct

Yeap me too. But even with a slightly lower PCS and GOE, Patrick would still won anyway. His total tonight was about 11 points higher than Hanyu. I would probably have four or five points lower. In the end though, he stood up to the pressure and his edges are honestly one of a kind.

Maybe some people don't feel like they are the ones being addressed when you just write 'some people'? I wouldn't react to that if I was meant with this too or not. And as others said, there is an ignore list you can use.

So base value gap between Chan and Hanyu is 16 points yet, Chan wins.
Also I wish I could understand what Chan was interpreting and performing that deserved 10 across the board. Can't argue with the rest.

Well, he skated to Chopin and did it brilliantly with grace and ease and I think he interprets it into whatever he feels. I don't think there needs to be a back-story that he lost a lover or is a drug addict or is coming home from war to warrant those marks when he lays down that kind of skate. Love him or hate him, he cannot be denied gold here, it was beautiful.

p.s. There is a lot of judging crap in Canada also. Like in many other countries. There is a saying in Italian which literally translates as the cleanest of them all has scabies.

The problem is the first 5-6 skaters skated amazingly with almost no mistake (Nam, Timothy, Daisuke) and another with very little mistakes (Patrick's popped 4T that took a lot of GOE, Yuzuru's splat fall and Adam fall on 4Lz and second 3A). So it's easy to complain...I see Nam over Adam at a distance, Daisuke ahead of the pack at a very little distance. He was the only one who had no mistake in the short and long program! Patrick had a very good skate, but his TES was a bit too low (Nam has better TES) and GOE too high...
Congratulation to all the skaters! Gorgeous skating!

Oh no! You weren't. Honestly, when I write "some people" I assume the people I'm talking about know who they are...their comments are really worded as if they want to cause trouble, and I would prefer not to quote them directly and encourage more of those types of posts. Debate and disagreement is great, but when there are just blanket statements being made with no rationale/justification/evidence it's very unproductive and just breeds discord.

A popped jump isn't innately a mistake, though. It was a good triple. I can see the point about Hanyu's program but it has just so much difficulty, Murakami's program isn't capable of touching that. Hanyu can probably score over 150 points while falling 5 times.

Let's take Alexander Petrov who may not have quads, but on both nights had one of the best executed jumps in competition yet did not have the benefit of being showered with +3s as many complained after SP. That's all.

the only issue with the ignore list is that you can still see that the troll has posted... and if someone quotes them, you will see that too... but it's actually quite useful... i have had to use it as people make fun of my username

to be an artist is to reach out for exquisite beauty... not to tell a story. and i think the word execution tells a lot here as well. i dislike when some skaters overdo stuff... subtlety goes a long way.
