And I'd like to see Hanyu do a 4-3 in competition.

You don't have to wait long tbh. Probably next season since he plans to do a 2 quad SP by 2018. And it'll probably fair better than his current layout with the 3lz3t :palmf:

Their styles and strengths are too different, there's really no point in trying to get one do what the other does best. Yuzuru struggles with the 4T (now), and that's Patrick's best jump. While Patrick struggles with the 3A that Yuzuru can do in his sleep. Their styles are also very different but they work for each of them, the important thing is that they know how to showcase it. That's one of the things that sets them apart from the pack.
So let's just be happy that they both have the vehicles to deliver they way they know how, many we're complaining about that being the problem for some skaters like Han and Michal. We can save the discussion for the GPF when they meet again :)

And I'd like to see Patrick do a quad other than a toe loop, and do more than one 3A (or actually two 3A in combination...in the second half). You can't even pull the technical card when comparing so people shouldn't even try. Though I'm sure he could do a 4T+3T in competition if he wanted too. A 4Lo too.

why doesn't Yuzu want to do a 4t-3t then?

I love both Patrick and Yuzu. They will be up there with the all time greats. As encouraging as this had to be for Patrick, this wasn't Patrick beating Yuzu but Yuzu beating Yuzu. I would have hated to be a judge if they were both clean. Men's just got a lot more interesting.

What do you mean when you mentioned that Yuzu beat himself? (this might be a dumb question, sorry)

Also, I agree that the men's field is so much more interesting when Patrick is skating head-to-head against Yuzu and when both are skating so well. Can't wait for the upcoming competitions!

^It means that Hanyu took himself out of the running for the gold when he messed up his short.

yeah .. i am curious too.. because yuzu, aside the 3 LZ, achieved a lot more technically than in many of his other skates... yuzu beating yuzu for me would mean him popping 2-3 jumps into singles

Points wise, I think it's usually more secure for him to add the 3T to the end of his 3A (and he usually gets good GOE on this combo). Since the 4T+2T and 3A+3T are both in the second half wouldn't the base value of these two combos be the same whether it's a 4T+3T and 3A+2T? Based on the rules and his ability I think it makes sense that the jump he adds the 3T to is his 3A.

that's one way to look at it. but he doesn't need to do 3A-3T since he is also doing 3A+1l+3S ... so he could do 4t+3T.... and get rid of that 2t?

Too many repeated jumps. IIRC, you can only repeat two jumping passes and he repeats the 4T and the 3A, he would also be repeating the 3T ;) Unless you meant doing a 4T3T, a solo 3A and a 3A1Lo3S?

yeah... i meant 4t+3t, 3A and 3A+ 1l+3S...

but you are correct and so is kiches... there is still another combo available and 3t cannot be used, if he does another 4T....

yeah so 4t+3t, 4t... then 3A and 3A+ 1L+ 3S... is he still allowed to add a 3T to another pass? or is that illegal?

No, he wouldn't be able to add another 3T. That's why for example at WTT, after he popped his quad into a 3T, he changed his 3A3T into a 3A2T. Because he was already repeating the 3Lz and the 3A, so if he had done a 3A3T the combo would have been invalid as it would be the third jump he had repeated.
With this layout it's either a 4T2T and 3A3T or 4T3T and 3A2T. He can only have one 3T in the program.
Edit: Oops, took too long to answer
He could do a solo 3A, a 4T3T and drop the 2T somewhere, but the 3A are his most reliable jump to put combos on, it would be a risk to put them somewhere else
