Any word on how Kaetlyn is doing lately? Has she gotten over all her injuries and in better shape to skate here? I was half expecting her to WD before the event.

This competition will be really fun since this is the last stage to decide who's gonna get on board for the GPF. I expect Mao, Ashley and Miyahara or Pogorilaya on the podium, but the line up has so many underdogs with great potentials.

That's why I was wondering about Kaetlyn. She has been scoring well in her short programs this year with some big errors. So if she is back in good health and skating well she could score really well in the short. In fact she should score close to what Alaine did last week in Russia if she still wants to be seen as the top CAN lady.

If Kaetlyn felts something wrong with her physical condition, she would've withdrawn already like Mae did. We can't be sure of the possibility that she can be out of the competition since the event isn't started yet. I hope she pulls off in the both segments, so that her long journey of struggling with injuries is rewarded. I thought her SC showings were due to mental blocks.

But I thought the rumors at SC were that she was injured again during practice and should have withdrawn there especially after she fell and hurt herself again in the short.

Mirai has her one GP to shine and show that she can build on her gold medal at Graz. I have her as coming in 6th place in my predictions so I hope she can do that or better. (And she'd better leave her 3A out of the SP!)

:agree: Wow, I couldn't have said it better myself. Leonova can definitely do well in the SP and I love everything about her Chaplin program. Unfortunately, even when skated cleanly her LP IMO, is a mile behind Ashley's . I still haven't seen Mao's programs so, I can't comment on her at this point.

I have heard a couple of things about Kaetlyn.

1) The ankle that was tweeked at SC in practice was not to the broken one and has since been ok. The story from media on her groin was just soreness from the initial fall in the SP.

2) What I am also hearing is that the possible problem to the majority of her issues at SC was misaligned blades. I heard a story out of her practice rink that her blades were adjusted just prior to SC during sharpening (not to her knowledge) and that there have been a few people to the rink doing adjustments.

Other than that she is healthy and since the adjustments have happened she is skating very well.

Oh I hope this is so. Would be nice to see what Kaetlyn can actually do when she is healthy and skating well. I think the judges have been waiting to give her some good scores - but she has not been able to skate well enough for them to do so. I mean if Alaine can score 67 for her short then a well skated clean short form Kaetlyn should be around 70.

I am sorry that I asked... We all knew the Paris tragedies, I sincerely hope Mae and her family are okay.
It's not an easy road at all, but I just pray everything is going to get back to normal little by little and all the people in Paris and thruout France will be surrounded by lots of smiles and laughters of themselves, of their families and friends soon again.

From France only Vanessa and Morgan to compete at NHK this time, sadly... But I am 100% sure they're gonna get huge love and big shouts out from audience :yes:, since not only Mae, Vanessa, Morgan but Brian, Florent, Nathalie, Fabian, etc. all French skaters are pretty famous and beloved by Japanese skating fans thanks to World Team Trophies in the past https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4cqCyWZyBY

Well, that could happen and not every missing spots were filled in with another skater. Look at the men's entries at Rostelecom. Only 10 skaters competed because of two skaters' belated withdrawal in time to replace other skaters. Of course, they would have their own valid reason. Besides, given the Paris attacks and her deep sorrow shown in her social media, French Mae who looked devastated at that time could've been affected by the tragedy. In addition, She might've had health problems as a news report said. We can have more tolerance about her withdrawal.

Just for your information, Chafik Besseghier of France will compete in the men's event. So Vannessa and Morgan were not alone to represent France. I hope all French skaters cope with the national tragedy.
