2015-16 Grand Prix Final Ladies SP

When I don't like a skater, it's not because he/she is russian/american/canadian/japanese etc

100000% agree with this.

Because my favorites are from all over the place, it's very frustrating to see people say "American ladies are awful" or "Russian ladies are unbeatable" or "Americans have the best artistry" or "Russian ladies are all flops." (This really only happens with American and Russian ladies from what I see). Do people forget that figure skating is an individual sport? Different skaters have different strengths and weaknesses. If someone is treating all the Russian and/or American ladies as a monolith in your posts, it makes me think they actually don't care about the performances, they just want their "team" to win.

After reading through all of this since Evgenia skated I find it hilarious a lot of you fixate so hard on her boots and tights. Is it really that distracting? How can a skaters boots and tights be such a focus for you? Literally get over it.

With Frank's insistence that the flip stay in, and Gracie for some reason always ending up so close to the boards on her jumping passes... at best she'll make 4th. The U.S. won't see an American lady podium for a while. They all have jump and/or psychological issues that the U.S. Fed really needs to address.

I don't know who the heck to root for at nationals. :scratch2:

Some complaints seems just stupid.

You don't like the lyrics in Elena's programs but i'm sure you love Ashley's programs.

Did you notice that Elena and Ashley use very different songs with different lyrics? And tastes differ?

(I say this as someone who likes all four of Elena and Ashley's programs.)

Insulting people for their opinions is always a classy and mature route to take :rolleye:. I like Evgenia, but I stand behind not liking the construction of her program (the tanos make no difference to me). I fully understand that it is more difficult to put the jumps in the second half, and she deserves to be rewarded for that, but the first half of her program is so empty and ill contstructed that it's distracting and aestically unpleasant.

And how are commentators on here saying that Evgenia should be, “given -1GOE for doing tanos” or that “Medvedeva must be the most boring skater of the season" taking the "classy and mature route" that you so mention? Neither is it considered constructive criticism.
But Marilyn Monroe did say that, “Success makes so many people hate you.” A quote I think the Russian ladies should be very familiar with!

No, it's all about how the lyrics are used. Radianova's programs SCREECHES lyrics throughout the entire thing. I lost count of how many Je t'aimes I heard. Probably 18.

Radianova has really tacky taste in music. But the girl can sell ice to an Eskimo, so she makes it work.

Looks like Eteri Tutberidze has had some botox injections... The face looks weird.

She's too young for that (if she's injecting). She's only 41, and looks like she's in her 30's. My mom is 59 and doesn't have any wrinkle (I know, I know, Black don't crack yadda, yadda). Take care of your skin when your're young, and your skin will thank you when you get older.

ESP guys love to crown everyone as #1 as soon as they have a good skate:laugh:
Well, they said they were pretty certain Yuna would one day win gold and that was after her first season's Worlds. They were right.

Generally both Americans and russian commentators are always so rude about russians and americans. Also on TV I remember Scott Hamilton & co always talking bad about Irina Slutskaya, or Tarasova so rude with some skaters. British commentators are the fairest.

She has braces on her teeth still. Sorry but I don't buy that someone her age really knows that kind of obsessive love of "Je t'aime." And she's far too--and I am stealing this word from Dave Leese because it is totally on the money--noodlely.

On the whole I thought the judging for the women was HORRENDOUS. And they kvetch about dance judging. Oy.

It's mostly in the genes what your skin will look like when you grow older. Don't believe what L'Oréal is trying to sell you. ;)

It's not about having wrinkles or not in her case. Her face has become a bit puffy. Looks like a mask.

I was on the thread the whole time, and missed both of those. There is a difference in those two things though, it's ridiculous to suggest she be dinged on jumps for doing tanos, but someone is entitled to find her "the most boring" (for the record I disagree with that, but that's neither here nor there). And both of those are quite different from calling people "ugly trolls".

To set the record straight on my side I'm a fan of Evgenia's, but I don't like her short program, I think her scores (at least the TES) are well deserved. I just took offense to people being bashed for their opinions.

I have a very simple litmus test for this entire competition -- whether Medvedeva gets an edge call on her flutz tomorrow -- if she does, I'll believe the results :agree:
