2015-2016 Russian Nationals Ladies SP

Well, I'll take Zhenia over Elena's tacky programs...I like Elena well enough, but Zhenia is just :jaw: I was very proud of Anna & Yulia too. And Polina. I wish Eteri's men were as consistent as her ladies. :drama:

I must be the only one out here who does not hate Elena's programs or maybe it's just that I like Elena so much that over look them. She has that fire that I like in my skaters. Evgenia is consistent as heck and I like like her music choices this year, but she is a little robotic for my taste. Since I am going to Worlds I certainly would not mind seeing the top three ladies from today there though.

And my favorite skate of the evening was Yulias... would have not expected that before

Same here, favorite was Julia's, then Elena's and then Anna Pogorilaya's... I think I just can't get over how utterly gorgous Anna Pogorilaya is, it adds like 10 points to her presentation...

I wish Ashley or Gracie could skate in this. Just for fun I'd be curious to see what the Russisn judges would score them. I can't even imagine TBH. :whack:

I could not wake up to a better Christmas surprise than Yulia and Elena in podium positions after the SP! :cheer:
Also, does Evgenia's world record count or would it have to be in international competition?

Poor Liza looked devastated:(. I'm very glad for Yulia, it's nice to see how Urmanov is supportive to his students.

nationals don't count for World records

I want that bronze medal for Anna Pogo:hap10:

But not over Julia! Gosh darn, I love them both and I want both to be on the podium, but that'd require Elena to mess up, because there's no way Evgenia will mess up enough to fall off the podium, and it's not like I wan't Elena to have a disaster either. Argh. Not enough podium places.

How is it in Russia with Euro nominations? I think last year it was that the first and second place went straight and there was some discussion where the officials and coaches (and whoever else was there)decided about 3rd spot. Am I right? And how is it going to be this year?

Oh, okay. Figured.

Still, even with the possible nationals inflation, that was a ridiculously huge score and I'm happy she skated so well. What an accomplishment for a kid the age of a high school sophomore-and to think we have several of these every year! Blows my mind even after two seasons.

same this year

I think Medvedeva and Radionova have a safe spot, Yulia, Anna and Adelina will fight for the third.
Why not they left Medv. and Rad. for Worlds and send the other three at Euros where they decide the third spot for Worlds? No other lady, in Europe, can beat a Russian girl, any girl they decide to send, so why not?

Because despite the current invincibility of the Russian ladies, Euros is still a pretty big title, and it would be kind of unfair to deny Evgenia or Elena a chance to win that title, or medal there.

Last year it was pretty easy for them not to send the third place finisher since it was Evgenia and if memory serves me correctly she was too young, just like what happened to Karen Chen at US Nats. The reality is you are right that any three Russian ladies they send will likely sweep Euros, but Euro is kinda prestigious. Yulia, Adelina, and Anna have had dicey seasons. Whoever is third should get the spot on Euros and World. I want it so bad to be Yulia because girlfriend has had a rough could of years and I would like to see her turn a corner and makes teams after two seconds of being coached by Urmonov.

Personally I'd prefer a solution like this. Maybe Liza could join too, if she can get out a clean FP. I don`t know about "denying" Zhenya and Lena the chance for winning an Euro title since it mostly means a fight against each other, and this they have in this season often enough. The other girls can easily win the title as well, and a little morale booster may be better for them than just letting them sit at home with their world class skills.

Well, I just read the thread. Happy for Zhenia, Lena, Julia, Anna, Polina, and Masha, and sad for Liza, Sima, Alisa, and Maria...
