2016 Four Continents Ladies Free Skate

It mostly tells you how much she was overscored. Having Kaetlyn Osmond(who actually skated to the music) 3 points behind Gracie in PCS was a joke.

I totally agree. Kaetlyn is one of the best performers out there. I'd say she's even better at selling a program than Ashley Wagner.

Just waking up to see the result---GO MIRAI!!!! :yahoo: That silver must taste so sweet to her right now. And big congrats to Satako, Rika, and SoYoun! Looks like I'll have some excellent programs to watch after breakfast and dog walking. Well done, medalists!
And it also looks like most of our predictions are totally in the toilet on this one, haha!

LOL. You've been very critical about Gracie's uncalled flip edges unlike Medvedeva's uncalled flutz. :ohwell:

That's why I added the :hopelessness: She needs to fix that ASAP!

I've made Zhenia Jumpamatrons. Three in fact dating back to last season when it was really bad.

Quick translation from Mirais interview.
---
Mirai mentioned that she has been having under rotations this season and her goal next season is work on those and to have no under rotations. A lot of the time she was doubting herself but she just had to believe that she could do it. She mentioned about the reworking of the ice rink in Colorado something.. (wasn't able to catch it).

With regards to her Japanese, I think she was just lost for words so she couldn't immediately say what she wanted to say. I think she was a bit emotional about it.

Anyway, Congrats Mirai, Satoko and Rika~ Special congrats to So Youn. It was nice to see her expression when she saw her score. She really was happy^_^

I don't know why Kaetlyn's PCS is kept low... her SP PCS is 2 points lower than what she got in GPS and 60 for FS is same as what she got at NHK where she had 2 falls... I don't think she was particularly slower today nor the judges were harsher in general. But anyway, I'm glad she had a cleanish FS. That was lovely!

Satoko is consistent but today's performance was clearly the best I've seen from her. The way she moves, accentuating the notes, phrasing nuances... very inspiring.

And of course, Mirai

If she hits all elements in competition, her program would be spectacular. Her free program is one of my favorites this season, but her potentials are not fully blossomed yet unfortunately.

I'm sure that practically nobody did not put Gracie on the podium for their predictions. Nobody put So Youn in the top 6 for their predictions either. What a mess the final scores will be.

Right! Watching her is so relaxing. I never have to hold my breath and pray she stays on her feet. If Karl Malone is the mail man, Satoko is the lead mail lady. :P

Right, I know that with Satoko, I'll never have to say: "I should have gone to bed" and I know she won't give me a heart attack. :luv17:

Anticipated victory of Satoko and CONGRATS #TinyQueen!!!!! I feel like her jumps are bigger today? (And seriously? A -1 on her two-way spin?)

YES Mirai!!! You did it!!! I don't know what to say but just YES!!!

Great recovery from Rika and she totally sold it despite the mistake. And really she deserves +3 GOE on her steps sequence and choreo sequence, and a higher PCS, at least an 8 on Choreo and interpretation.

P.S. The rankings in the short and the free are such a mess

Kaetlyn has deeper edges, better knee bend and power than Gracie. She actually interprets the music and her overall performance was better. One would never know that based on how the judges scored them in those categories. Shameful

Those protocols make me :scratch2:..... well, don't know. If you give 1.20 to So Youn's gorgeous 2a3t or 0.70 for her fabulous salchow and you give 1.40 and 0.90 to Satoko respectively.... :(.
Satoko was ahead of everyone tonight and she should have won witouht any questions. I love her skating, I adore her softness on the ice, her spins and her footwork are on a class of their own. But she shouldn't receive so much GOE, no, it's just unfair to other skaters

Medvedeva's "flutz" is much better than Gracie's "Lip"... Mededeva actually gets on an outside edge, has lots of speed, and most of the time with this technique only deserves an !.

Foolishly, I predicted Gracie the winner. Her FS at the Nationals made me gamble the podium finish even with her big flop at the last season's 4CC. I put So Youn in top 10. My prediction got screwed.

I put Gracie as the winner too!

Actually I have Gracie in 4th:biggrin: because I was like - c'mon, history has shown over and over again, that she can't have two good skates after another ...

Right now, I'm really proud of myself *patts myself on the shoulder*. I even got the podium right, though not the right order - I had Satoko first, but Mirai third and Rika second :yes2: But I'm glad Mirai turned out to skate that well AND received good pcs :)

I highly doubt this is true since Japanes is the only language her mom speaks and so is the only way she can communicate with her mom. While there might be dialectic or accent issues of some kind going on, I just don't believe Mirai's Japanese is bad.

Mirai's Japanese is not that bad, Kevin's Japanese is good! My sister and I agree that Kevin and Mirai, from what we could hear of them talk in the interview, have about the same level of interview Japanese. In day-to-day conversational Japanese, who knows?

So happy for Satoko, just marvelous and I think her skating looked freer and her body looked more relaxed than ever. She performed in a way that is amazing. :luv17:

I don't get Mirai's program at all, but I was so happy for her silver. Yaaay.

Watching her is so eye rolling to me. Yes, she is super consistent but I swear she is scared of letting any air find its way under her skates and even her performance ON the ice seems to take place exclusively at one "altitude". Heck, even if she reached for the ice every once in a while that would do a lot for her. In her bubble she is great, but she needs to skate larger if she wants to be truly great.

Protocals up. What is great is Marai got an edge call on the Lutz but no other deductions. Looks liked she's turned a corner on the rotation issue. Maybe she'll get 2 GP assignments next year.
