Patrick Chan

1) great hair Patrick...
2) WOW at the 4t-3t...
3) :( with all the beautiful triple axels done in the practice sessions, that's a bit strange... he did look a bit cautious though...
4) hangs on the triple lutz... PHEW

overall, I like the program a lot. He looked a bit slower and more cautious than usually. Would it be jitters from being in Canada?

KnC he is smiley so I guess it's okay... it's all work in process...

Love ya chiddybaby

Patrick did very well. Compared to everyone else, he had a great performance by miles. IOW, he under-performed the least by far.

eta. I posted the above before Kevin's skate. Kevin did not under-perform.

Wow, so much good stuff to round up! I'm so proud of Patrick, especially when he talked about his expectations being on him and not on the results. Yahoo!

and while watching the ladies SP i fell asleep... not because it is not good.. just because i am that tired LOL... waking up now ;) thanks to blueberryhill's thumbs up :)
blueberryhill just gave you a thumbsup in her sleep. And m0001 posted Patrick's interview video in her sleep.

Come out, come out here, all you sleep posters.

hehe ;) catching up with the pairs now... the italian man is so dreamy... i may fall asleep again but dreaming this time :) next D/R cannot wait to see how they did and cannot imagine how i managed to stay away from spoilers LOL ;)
I see, they were not doing all these things in their sleep, but in yours.

I'm exhausted and I have a lot of thoughts but I'll write them out later. I wasn't disappointed by him in competition, it was good and he was clearly ahead. The 3A fall made me laugh because he popped back up so fast.

cannot wait to see your report.

I got home late and found out Patrick is in 1st place at men SP. How EXCITING!:love::love:

Just out of curiosity, I try to catching up all the postings on Skate Canada Men SP thread to see how other posters' reactions, quite interesting to me.;)

I haven't watch Patrick SP but I will watch it a few times after my posting and I know I will enjoy it. :hap10:

By reading VB and 4everchan postings I know Patrick had a good skate except the fall , but that is good enough for the 1st place. We all hope Patrick will perform a clean, beautiful FS tomorrow. :cheer::points:

Yes, I noticed that ever since the summer he's learned to get right back up and brush off any falls and not let it affect his performance. It's great and I am looking forward to reading your report!

BTW, I added an accolades section to my blog post so you all can see what people across the Twittersphere were saying about Patrick's performance. Many wonderful words!

Okay I'm on a computer now so I'm going to say some quick comments.

Skating skills are crazy impressive, the transitions, the edges and the ice coverage were all amazing. He is so fast, and I still remember how deep the mark he left on the ice where he does a brief spread eagle in front of the judges. I sat where he does the 4T-3T, what a monster combination. The 3A fall made me laugh, I think I saw him mentioning it to Oleg Epstein I think about pulling his arms in so I think he was prepared to fall. 3Lz landing wasn't great, honestly a 0 GOE jump for me but he seemed really at peace throughout the performance, needs more polishing but I am satisfied.

But Patrick has always been extremely quick in getting up from any fall and into the choreography immediately, which is why I have defended against charges that his PCS were not reduced enough for a fall because there is no interruption of the choreography. Other skaters, even World medalists, often take time to get up and then skate up to 10 seconds before resuming their programs. Now those are interrupted programs deserving PCS reduction.

The most noteworthy and almost hilarious quick recovery from a fall was his SP at GPF 2011 in Quebec City. He ran out of room after a gorgeous 4T and landed his 3T right before slamming hard into the board, stunning everybody including his coach Krall and Takahashi and his coach at the K&C behind the board. He sprang right up and thundered down the rink for his 3A. There is a video of these priceless reactions with Patrick scurrying by in a blur like a lightning fast ghost.

Really looking forward to his new LP in its entirety with a 4S. Go Patrick!

If he was extremely quick before, then he is even better now. It may be very subtle, but I noticed an improvement in his ability to bounce back from mistakes and go on as if he had never made an error. It's great.

Watched the morning practice and it looks like we'll be seeing his costume from last season again. He must really like it. He landed a nice 4S, I think.

I also love that he's really getting it that his confidence needs to come from within, and not be dictated by results or circumstances, as he said in this article:

https://www.thestar.com/sports/skating/2016/10/29/chan-gets-jump-on-hanyu-at-skate-canada.html

It's wonderful to see Pchiddy's growth as a person and an athlete! :agree:
