2016 Skate Canada Ladies FP

This was, overall, a great improvement compare to last night's Men's SP. Let's hope Men's LP will be the same!

Evgenia is a master of her art, totally delivered everything.
Congrats to Kaytlin, fully deserving silver, shamefully overscored yet.
Liza seems to be in good physical shape, but sometimes she looks doubtful about the simpliest jumps, that 1A was very weird. Also her programs are pretty average to me.

she could have beaten Satoko for 3rd, that 1 axel and 3T-slipcombo costed her and she got low PCS

Can any technical expert explain what happened to Satoko's stsq :( It is so bad that a skater with deep edge/good blade work got zero point for her footwork!!!

I think Alaine looked more polished than Kaetlyn, who, as one reader commented, always looks a bit wild on the ice, not quite in control.

I know we all like to see clean program.
But there is something too clean in Medvedeva's program.
And i had this feeling already last season.
But still she had so lovely gala program last season so i can not wait what she has this year:eeking:

five clean triples, edge issue on the lutz and a fall. 7 triples attempted; 6 scored essentially. Its all relative to the others. I know many like Satoko but in the old scoring system she could have dumped quickly for such small jumps; if judges wanted too they could reduce her GOES. in the 6.0 you could get those jumps done ala Jennifer Robinson but be marked way down. So I can see why Osmond might score higher. She sells the program but yes , I agree not af an of the music. But then again she is like Ashley Wagner she works the program but in Osmond's favour while she doesn't h ave the political push she is more organic or natural than Ashley with her presentation.

Kaetlyn only attempted 6 triples. She did 5 (inclusive of the ! she got on the 3Z) and fell on an underrotated 3Lo. I think Osmond is a good skater. But she shouldn't be beating world medalists in components and scoring over 132 with a fall. I think it'd be accurate if she'd scored about what Satoko scored.

Not sure if judges over score but so many people are definitely over scolding. Why so harsh, especially about a young talented girl?

the arm above the head, she receives something for that.

I understand that the tano-effect can bolster a skater's GOE, but Osmond has so much speed before and after her jump. Plus, the power and height of her 3F-3T is out of this world.

PCS (Preposterous Cringe Scoring) wise Medvedeva absolutely deserve over 70s... I just can not agree with some of these judges marks.

Tano gets too much credit on the GOE in my opinion. Better to see speed, flow, height and tight rotations than awkward looking arm positions.

My people have this phrase: "Lake with crystal clear water has no fish."
It describes your feelings the best.

Evgenia is fantastic! She has many haters.....no matter that shows her greatness...

Evgenia is one of, if not the best skaters in the last decade. This program however, is not one of her best. She could skate to grass growing and still win because of her talent as a skater. What she has above the other technically strong skaters is her ability to perform like an actress. In that way, she is similar to Ashley Wagner. What makes her superior to Ashley is her technical strength. That is why I think the standings at Worlds will not change from last season if everyone skates their best. How is Anna P. looking this season?
