Patrick Chan

As expressed in the Chinese Names thread, I like Os' interpretation of Patrick's Chinese as Great Group Of Chans. After all, he started the Chan/Chen Dynasty rocking the figure skating world today. I acknowledged though that Lu was the original Great Chen.

Cool, well here is the official Chinese press article with the title, "Chen/Chan brothers and sister rule the ice altar in North America". They have Patrick pictured at the top. The article talks about how Patrick, Nathan, and Karen continue Michelle Kwan's figure skating legacy and spirit in North America.

What if two things were possible for the global skating audience, so that they could appreciate Patrick and other great skaters....?

1] A 3D movie were made with some of the top skaters and their programs.... AND/OR

2] Some of the major ISU competitions were streamed into select movie theatres simultaneously, in the way that the Metropolitan Opera has done.

Gack! I really want Patrick recorded for posterity in a way that truly shows the full richness of his skating... What would have to happen to make it so?

That's a great idea, TGee! Someone should present it to the ISU or to Skate Canada and the other national skating associations!

TGee.. YES... Patrick needs to be recorded 3d for posterity... This is super important I think...

My wish goes beyond Patrick though... I hope that he teaches his style, that others teach his style to the next generations and that more and more skaters start getting the meaning of "skating"... I love jumps .. don't hear me wrong but I was gobsmacked by Patrick's skating... NOBODY else among all the skaters I have seen skates like him.... Sure, I haven't seen everyone but it's just another world. It was truly a revelation. I have been watching Patrick for about 10 years... on tv... and always thought he was special... and then OMG... !!! It was beyond anything I expected.

Finally had a chance to watch Patrick's beautiful FS. That was quite a skate! Seamless from beginning to end. He looked like he was shot out of a cannon on those 3As! Congratulations to him on his record-breaking title.

It takes talents and relentlessly devoted pursuit of the beauty of figure skating to reach this transcendent level of skills and artistry. Yes, it should be passed down to future talents, this special Chan style. But that sunny disposition and the big radiant heart of gold energizing all around him is uniquely and inimitably Patrick's.

no question about that. totally agree

Hi! I have listened to Patrick saying that the next step would be adding the quad salchow in the short. When will he add it?
Ah, the long at the nationals was fantastic!

For a few seasons, Patrick didn't do 4CC, so I'm glad he has been doing it since his comeback so that we get to see his programs an extra time.

My Nationals thoughts will be posted here today or tomorrow. I just need to write it down in a coherent way before sharing.....

looking forward to reading your thoughts :) mine were not too coherent as VB pointed out ;) but it's okay... they came from the heart ;)

I guess in the 4CC...no good idea try it only in the worlds

I thought it was meant for next season. It would be great if he could get it started successfully this season.

Yes I was assuming he would wait until next year as well... However, if I were the one in charge LOL I would suggest strongly to Patrick to add it in the Short for 4CC as he has nothing to lose there... and see how it feels.... the sooner he is finished updating his content, the better chances he will be ready for next season. I would even suggest he adds it at Worlds too.... I really don't care if he falls on it. 4S 10.5 in BV a fall with deduction is 5.5..... 3Lz is 6 in BV. (could be around 7.0, 7.5 with + GOE) .. I think it's worth the risk.

Happy Lunar New Year to Patrick and everyone on GS. Wish you all good health, good fortune and all your new year dreams come true :yes2:.

Congratulations to Patrick on his 9th nationals title, a well deserved CHAMPION and thank you Patrick for making us PROUD .

Happy, healthy and prosperous Year Of The Rooster to Patrick and all his fans!

It's OK to be cocky at times. Don't waste hard earned bragging rights. :)

The Canadian government made it official that the first day of the Lunar Year as the beginning of the 15-day "Spring Festival", starting 2017.

Happy New Year Of The Rooster to Patrick and all of his fans and friends!

Patrick and his well worn OSM. He was smart to win a pair of them so he can keep one in pristine condition while the other is on tour duty.
