Maybe we should wait to see how she does this weekend. Eventually Kaetlyn and Gabby need to be replaced for Canada. And I think there is an easy solution that does not require deportation - give Patrick Chan a Hello Kitty plushy.

I have had some dark thoughts about Nic as well. The injury man...in some ways, it's good he stayed junior. But he's lost so much training time. If he had a full, healthy season under his belt then who knows what he would have accomplished this season. Now he has one shot at the JWC title before he heads into his debut senior season.

I know not to expect that Nic will have a great placement at Junior Worlds because of the significant loss of training time (his SP at Nationals and his LP at the Bavarian Open show that he's rusty). However, we can still hope for the best, and remember that no one expected him to medal at Junior Worlds last year, and he was 8th after the SP. You never know what can happen.

And who knows what will happen next season. GP spots, a shot to go to the Olympics, the 4Lo & 4Lz...too many things to think about.

I can't predict how he'll perform in the future or what assignments he'll get, but if he does do well and is sent to major competitions, figure skating fans who aren't familiar with Nic won't know what hit them, especially if he keeps the Elvis Presley LP. I just feel that he has all the potential to become a big star in this sport. :yes:

i think Nic will make his own name he is so tall and such a good performer. I wouldn't place him in the kurt category??? but i can see why one could do

I only recently read the older posts on this thread, and I just wanted to point out that Nic directly compares himself to Kurt in this interview/fluff piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEY4i0DLAGE If it's good enough for him, then it's good enough for us.

For those of you who don't know French, I'll translate the relevant quote:

"My idol is Kurt Browning. I've always admired him, he's super. I've always been compared to him when I was younger, and now as well because we both have the same attitude on the ice. We go after the judges, we go after the audience. That's what's cool about him, he's super-fun to watch, and that's what I love. The CDESL helped me by giving me a grant which helped to pay for my choreographer, so now I have beautiful choreography. I want to be fun to watch, just like Kurt."

My favourite description of Nic's skating style comes from Rod Black while he and Tracy Wilson were commentating on his SP at Canadians:
Tracy: "Nic reminds me a little of Kurt, he just makes it work."
Rod: "A TALL Kurt!"

Actually, I believe Lubov and Dylan competed the Th4Lz last year and rotated it, but with a 2 foot landing at one of the summer series events. [Detroit 2015?]
