You can say that about Javier as well. Just because they once earned their reputation, doesn't mean their lackluster performance always deserve it.

Nothing prevents Cha Jun Hwan from establishing a good reputation. He's only 15 so I think his PCS reflects his inexperience more than politics. But you will spin it however you want, of course.
Yes, many of them...Hey YesWay, you saw these guys at GPF this year right? Samarin seems very fast and his jumps look really nice and big...that probably helps his PCS, do you think?
quite surprising that JPN is far far away from Podium this year
Yes, many of them...
Wasn't greatly impressed by Samarin at GPF (or Talllinn JGP), but he seemed a lot better here - in peformance, interpretation, choreography, commitment. It's hard to compare speed (one live and one video)... but subjectively he seemed faster than GPF to me. Don't exactly know how much the judges apprecate speed, but it ought to help PCS - speed makes everything harder... and if skaters can do their transitions, steps etc without losing speed, and build speed without too many crossovers... then that demonstrates good skating skills too.
Big jumps should be rewarded in TES, GoE... but I guess they may affect judges' perceptions regarding PCS too, depending on how well they are executed, timed and integrated into program/choreography etc...
