2017 Jr Worlds Mens FS

Okay, time to go back to work. I'll miss the Ladies SP tomorrow since I'll be at a meeting but I'll definitely be around for their FS.

You can say that about Javier as well. Just because they once earned their reputation, doesn't mean their lackluster performance always deserve it.

Nothing prevents Cha Jun Hwan from establishing a good reputation. He's only 15 so I think his PCS reflects his inexperience more than politics. But you will spin it however you want, of course.

Congratulation to the three medalist, and thank you for all skaters who did their best. I've been keeping myself quiet not to jinx them.

I wowed to Vincent, and relieved that none of Russian boys had bombed.

I am so grad that Daniel had his redemption skate.
He must've take my remedy, because he ended up 6th from 16th:biggrin:
( I recommended him to watch Mao's FP from 2014 Olympics in SP thread)
He will be stronger next season.

PCS are inflated, check judges names and then protocols. And I'm not saying it's just about Russians/ Americans. Look how Judge 7 who's Korean went out on Jun's PCS. Inexperience shouldn't count either btw. If you're good then you're good and you're getting scores for that.

LOL sure Russians do have more experience politicking.
..and excuse me, I didn't know experience is part of the PCS criteria, otherwise how do you explain Sochi? Seems you are the one who wish to spin things only when it is convenient.

Hey YesWay, you saw these guys at GPF this year right? Samarin seems very fast and his jumps look really nice and big...that probably helps his PCS, do you think?
Yes, many of them...

Wasn't greatly impressed by Samarin at GPF (or Talllinn JGP), but he seemed a lot better here - in peformance, interpretation, choreography, commitment. It's hard to compare speed (one live and one video)... but subjectively he seemed faster than GPF to me. Don't exactly know how much the judges apprecate speed, but it ought to help PCS - speed makes everything harder... and if skaters can do their transitions, steps etc without losing speed, and build speed without too many crossovers... then that demonstrates good skating skills too.

Big jumps should be rewarded in TES, GoE... but I guess they may affect judges' perceptions regarding PCS too, depending on how well they are executed, timed and integrated into program/choreography etc...

Zhou improved his GOE for 4Lz from +0.8 to +1.86
Samohin's 4T+3T is the next highest with +1.71
Samarin's 4T also +1.71
Samohin's 4S +1.57
Zhou's 4S combo +1.00
Cha's 4S combo +0.86
Zhou's 4S +0.86

7 clean quads (8 if you count in Samarin 4T combo which was had wobbles in the 3T landing)
from 4 skaters.

Edit:
Add in Orzel's 4T +0.57

So 8 outright clean quads plus 1 clean quad in wobbling combo.

Objective judging should have been:
1. Zhou
2-3. Petrov, Cha
and both Petrov and Cha should have got higher PCS than Samarin, while Aliev's PCS should be about the same or lower as well.

Regardless of the controversy and debate, I am actually fine with the placement.

Cool, thanks for your thoughts. Samarin's PCS was actually behind Cha's at GPF. So it's interesting to see it switched here.

I'm so sad, it was Jun's first full junior season since he only went to Worlds and YOG last season and he will have to go to seniors next season. I guess it can give him less pressure for next season :sad4:
