Patrick Chan

Hi guys :hap85: This is my first time posting here in Patrick's fan thread! I just can't take the off the scale quad mania in the main forum. I want to say I am all for Patrick and I REALLY appreciate Patrick's artistry and immaculate skating skills and exquisite musicality. His Chopin FS is my favourite program of his, the choreography and interpretation is pure art. Every detail is a gem. Keep going Pchiddy!:cheer:

Welcome!! :hap85:

Ok, that didn't go too well for Patrick... :scratch2:
I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts or/and comments on this SP. <3

It seems Patrick has written and been following a mental rule book that says it takes two trials to get a new quad in a program right. So, it's good to get one out of the way at the WTT. What I don't get is how his PCS could be so low?

Looking forward to The Journey tomorrow.

Go Patrick!

Please someone tell me... Did Patrick try to do 4C in SP?
Yes, he did. It was the second jump and the 3A was last. Good 4T+3T, then a wild landing on the 4S but still on his feet, and a fall on the 3A (went crooked in the air; seemed very tentative on the takeoff). But, it was his first time trying this layout, so I'll take it. He went for it, and that's the main thing. Now he has somewhere to build from because he's done it once.

Actually, the second jump was credited as a 3S. The 3A received a <, thus the low TES.

I guess we both figure he "needs" two attempts before doing it right and this was a good place to start. :)

Jump mistakes making judges overlook other positive qualities? Just like jump consistency making judges overlook other weaknesses? It used to be the other way with COP in that judges would overlook mistakes somewhat if a skater had good PCS (shown by the whole controversy after 2012 and 2013 Worlds). Then BVs shot up with multiple types of quads and quad combos.

I do think, however, that Patrick was a lot more reserved here. The skating was still nice but he wasn't projecting like he did at Worlds. It's totally understandable given the new layout he was attempting. It seemed like a tired performance, although I'm sure many skaters would love to be able to skate like even a tired Patrick. ;)

What is COP and BV?

I hadn't looked at the protocols, so thanks for telling me. But we know that that's what he was attempting. He attempted it instead of playing it safe. Good for him.
