Patrick Chan

Is this the latest? I hope he is fine. I was kinda worried of any injury when I heard of his withdrawal. It’s good that he seem smiley and healthy.

very recent... all week he has been in vancouver

no 4 flips and no injury but apparently new boots ....

just better for him to go to vancouver for a lot of reasons we suspect but haven't been released.

Well, Patrick did quads, new boots or not.

My bliss is inclusive, like "quads".

Does something not exist if it's not revealed or mentioned?

oh it existed ;) we know about that... but Patrick said he is no longer pursuing it... nor training it. So... unless that changes, I go for that.
At the beginning of the summer he mentioned training it and said training was frustrating... and that some were landed beautifully and others were not.. and he fell quite a few times. (remember the interview where he revealed his music).... then, at HPC he said he was no longer planning to include it nor training it seriously at all...

what else do you need? 24 h surveillance? to prove that he is not training it? LOL

I am just going with his words from interviews and logically, with 2 more things : 1) layout of the LP which has no room for a 4th quad.... 2) why would he bother risking injury or falls when he know he won't use it at this point?

With the salchow it was different.. he said we should expect it.. but for now, he would do a triple... and then, he included it... and then also in the SP...

I just think that Patrick works in a very healthy manner and he is not the kind of guy to simply yolo a quad or add it abruptly in competition like some others do. and actually, I respect him greatly for that... so unlike there is information out there, that really shows him training a 4flip, or his own words, I will simply continue to live in my OWN bliss... which has no 4 flips in it ;)

Why are you so certain of exactly what is not mentioned or revealed and why does it deserve a vigorous defense of its non existence?

very simple : Patrick is very genuine and open about his layouts... so I go with what he has said. that's all... if he changes his mind.. he will tell us...

and the vigorous defense is because some posters had started rumours that the 4flip training was responsible for injuries... well... I want to simply clarify that Patrick said he is no longer training it seriously, so less risk for injury here... and that as we can see, he looks very cheery and happy, and also, others have mentioned that he is healthy...

So there... that's why.... I don't find it necessary to build up the possibilities of quads and quints :laugh2: that are not part of the plan.... when the ultimate goal is remaining safe and healthy. YMMV

Looking happy.

Well, he skates and takes pictures with youngsters.

Why do the youngsters only care about taking pictures of themselves with Patrick but not Patrick skating?

Maybe he asked them not to. He's been in a kind of stealth mode since the summer.

I still think he is preparing to move after the Olympics and is scoping out the city now. After all, it's less than 6 months away...

New quad or not, the most important thing is to stay healthy. I think he understands that well.

And... he's back in Vancouver (or never left?) at the Agridome today!

This youngster was so excited to skate with him!

wow... it's like a game... where will he be next and will it be with a young skating girl?

I don't blame Patrick for spending time in Vancouver

I just want to see his programs... At this point, I wonder if he is ever going to go back to Marina before Skate Canada :laugh2:

Yep, we have to thank these young ladies for posting pics on Instgram. Otherwise we wouldn't have known at all.

If he didn't return to Marina, who would he go to?

oh let's not even do that ;) as Mango noticed, there is the breaking the ice next week too... and Patrick shall be there.... Let's not forget that Marina had many teams competing in Nebelhorn and was in Germany all week when Patrick was first spotted in Vancouver... I don't know if she stayed in Europe or not (for JGP Poland/Finlandi) but it's quite possible that she is indeed not yet back to Michigan....

Also, as we know, Patrick is a very accomplished athlete, one that has to heart to teach children in the future and I am sure that he is a very aware athlete, able to train on his own for a while... So two weeks won't kill him.... He would do his routine... run through his programs, pose with the kids and do his off-ice and physio... so I am not worried for Patrick at all, and I would be surprised if he is not returning to Marina at all...

I made a joke about "returning to her BEFORE Skate Canada" hehe ;)

Talking about the moon : I was on my balcony last night... and it was just gorgeous... the harvest moon is usually sooner (September) but it's actually due in a couple days....
For those of you like me who love watching the sky, I wish you a clear weather. It was so bright when I went out (and not even quite full yet) that I thought someone had left a light on...

VB = i am not at your level of zen guru sensei ;) but watching the sky and meditate has provided me for hours of bliss in my life ;) I will have a special thought for chiddy tonight when I get back to it ;)

Maybe Patrick has been in BC for the moon cakes.

Happy Autumn Moon Festival, Patrick and his fans!
VB, I'm surprised you like moon cakes given your penchant for clean, healthy living. ;)
They are also very expensive to boot!

But Happy Autumn Moon Festival everybody! ... maybe I'll celebrate it with a piece of red velvet cake  ... with cream cheese icing ...

I've been enjoying my favorite moon cakes daily. The (double) yolks and the lotus seeds are great and delicious nutrition so what if I take in some sugar and unhealthy vegetable oil with it? :) After all, Autumn Moon Festival is also my birthday and moon cakes are my birthday cakes. They only come around once a year. Let's live and celebrate!

My father used to say we didn't need holidays and festivals as excuses to feast. Very wise man he was. We ate well.

My father was into astronomy in his fifties when I was a teenager. He used to take me outside at night to skygaze with him and showed me the constellations. Ah, no light pollution then and there.
