2017 GP Skate Canada Ladies FS

Canadian skater does well: OVERSCORED!
Canadian skater doesn't do wel: OVERSCORED!

Canadian audience gave a standing ovation to marin and cheered on pogo after she fell: WOW I CAN'T BELIEVE HOW RUDE THE AUDIENCE IS BEING!
*sigh* there's no winning.

You should have seen things during COR.

It is worth to mention that only skater with higher TES than PSC is Marin Honda.
What this mean?
a) she is only one to perform better/comparable to her level.
b) she was really underscored in components (maybe cause she was first to compete)
c) ...

Not at all. That's the way the competition is supposed to work. You do better than your competitors, you get a higher placement.

Ashley showed incredible fight and spirit all through that skate. She performed beautifully to the music, told the story, enchanted the audience, some of whom stood for her. She kept going for whatever she could. That is true valiance.

:yay: Ashley !!!

THANK YOU! Too much negative off the cuff thoughts in this thread. No one is blaming Katelyn for the home cooking on her PCS, they are blaming the judges!

I'll just have to make peace with the fact that Anna won't go the Olympic Games. Idk if she ever will come back in form, but Russia has so many young talents....it breaks my heart because I love this girl so much....but....it really seems, as hard it is to say this...that...no, I can't write it. I will think it, but not write it down.

Yes, I think this put the nail in the coffin as far as an Olympic berth goes. And I can understand it from the federation's point of view. Anna has the potential and star-quality to be amazing, but, and it's a big but, her lows are so, so low. With so many other wildly consistent skaters to choose from I don't think they will take the risk. I think this was her chance to show that worlds last year was the fluke.

Yeah, you're right! It's just there are a lot of posts blaming Ashley for the judges giving her high PCS and the bad skates that followed. None of this had anything to do with her.

The others had their chance to take it away from her and failed. Ashley is a survivor, good on her.

Plus.....It's more about "Holding Up" the World Silver Medalist and it happens all the time.

We are such a nice country with a rich history of amazing figure skaters, why recently we are getting hated on so much? people were so supportive of Canadian skaters what happened?

I love you, guys. All the Canadian people I met on my travels were kind and fun! :) Want to know how to feel hated in the World? Be German! :shock2:

j/k

Poor Anna.. Poor Anna.

Y'all are too much. I was watching on Tv. They applauded Maria's jumps and they applauded Anna's successful jumps and they gave Anna a lovely standing O for perseverance.

I got a knock on my door and had to go see if someone's kitten had run into my backyard and died when it got hit by a car so I missed most of the skating before Courtney.

Reminds me of when my brother showed up at my house mid GPF last year. :ddevil:

This. Although I do think a lot are attacking Kaetlyn herself (as many do with Evgenia) which isn't right. I think it's within our rights to criticize scores, but it's important to blame the right people. Osmond's score was a joke, but that was entirely on the judges. She doesn't give herself her own scores.

It was in subjunctive.

Still sad anyway.

omg, I seriously was hoping that poster was exaggerating or making things up. Poor Pogo, I think she needs to find a new coach. Honestly, Goncharenko or Mishin would be great options, though Mishin probably has a full schedule training Carolina and Liza. Maybe Goncharenko would take her since Lena left?

To those asking about the conversation between Anna and her coach. First of all it appears they have a very honest but sadly not that encouraging relationship (but hey, maybe she needs the tough love, who knows). From what I recall, the coach told Anna that maybe she should practice more run-throughs of the entire program, as she only started doing them a week ago and not often enough. It seems the coach thinks Anna's not putting in enough effort. She also mentioned that Anna should gather more speed as she skates because she jumps with no speed, on the spot, and just generally seems dead on the ice. And yeah, she said that if Anna continues like that, she won't go with her. She probably said some other stuff but I can't recall.

My opinion: that's really harsh, but I can't say that it's untrue. I don't necessarily think Anna needs to change coaches, she probably has other issues mentally that she needs to take her of, maybe see a phychologist or something, because she really needs to sort some things out (her confidence mainly). The coach could've been more... I dunno, nice? :frown: But it's their relationship.

I see a lot of people agreeing with the calls, and the scores of the judges this week.
Some of the protocols didn't seem enough to justify the scores last week.
Oh well. This was an all around mess anyway.

I want to slap this woman.

I don't speak Russian, but these statements should be verified before the fire torches and pitchfork crowd erupt.

This week, there were some untruths spoken about Carol Lane on GS, that were falsehoods, and never happened , as she was not broadcasting at the times/events referenced.

I am not actually so surprised at Anna's bombing here. It is pretty obvious she is not ready for her LP. Either she didn't skated it enough number of times, or she has the back injury that bothers her, or both. She literally skated zero times of her LP in any competition, and there is a reason behind that. It is a different bombing at the worlds. You can tell from her face she knew she couldn't skate well in the LP. Just hope she stays healthy and continue competing for the years to come.

I don't mind if she goes back to one of her old LPs. It is well justified for her.

She has said that she had difficulty remembering new programs and even basic things. [emoji31]

To be honest her spins actually looked better to me than last year. She seemed to have more speed and hold revolutions longer.

I never had the courage to see Anna´s long program worlds 2017, and from what I read here, I think it is best that I do the same with this performance and pretend it never happened.

Are people really talking about Pogo Olympic chances just a mere minutes later after yet another horror performance? I feel like every broadcast of the competition she is in should come with some public health warning. It's just too often and too much.

Forget Olympics....

This one wasn't quite as bad, I feel. In the grand scheme of things, at least.

For one her sense of entitlement is not commensurate to her actual ability. For me she and Kostner are the most irritatingly overscored skaters in FS. The bad news for her is at least Kostner once in a blue moon shows that she is actually a capable and elegant skater. I cannot say the same for Wagner ever.
