2017 GP Cup of China Mens FS

Seriously the abnormal amount of PCS for Kolyada is freaking me out as well as that TES for that many pops. ISU need to investigate into the judging or it'll be Sochi for the men this Olympic. It's not just home cooking Russian. They're going to be everywhere this season!

There was nothing abnormal with Kolyada's PCS. He gets the PCS within the usual range he gets with the same mistakes.Nothing to see here.

Loved Max here. Everyone else was meh in the free.

Takeaway from this event is Kolyada's short program which eliminates Canada's surefire claim at the Olympic team gold especially with Patrick MIA for the time being.

You need to have more faith in the Snugglebat!

Apparently I do! :agree: But at least I didn't jinx him.

I so want that US Men's Olympics team to be Nathan, Max, and Jason (or Nathan, Max, Adam). But no matter who it is, I hope they shine!

I can't believe how close Zhou and Boyang Jin's PCS are. Mind you this is in China

2 times world bronze medalist skate at home vs rookie in his GP debut after horrible SP skating early. I thought the gap might have been bigger to be honest lol...

Protocol up.

Judges were stingy as heck with Max's GOEs. But ALL LEVEL 4s BABY!

Only two URs for Zhou which is generous to say the least.

Some rather whacky GOEs for Kolyada.

Looks like the panel was generous with Reynolds too, only two URs listed there as well.

Sorry to see Kolyada, Javi and Boyang performing so sub-par today...something's in the air...:scratch3:

Max did great - if only he has the skills and presence of Patrick. Zhou tried but his stamina is really lacking and he visibly withered, he can only go up from here though.

I really hate people talking like Russia this, Russia that. When you start your attack with the name of a country your are insulting a whole nation. If you don't have any other way but attacking at least say Russian federation or Russian judges or ... A bit of respect for people other than yourself is not a big request.

P.S. Of course the same goes for people that keep saying Canada this, Canada that or any other country.

I dont see whats wrong with Kolyada's PCs really.
Javi got basically 90 with a TES lower than of several girls. That also should freak you out, no? If it does not, why not?

You mean compared to Rostelcom this year. Yeah but that was even more abnormal

Don't give up on them, they have these ridiculously difficult layouts. All of them are building up, slowly but constantly. I have the feeling that second half of the season, or even GPF, will be mind-blowing. Give them another chance :agree:
I understand they are trying difficult, but when they keep failing it just hurting my eyes. Maybe they should skate with easier layout at begining of the season if they cant skate harder one, i dont know.

Especially tonight, Max's should have been higher than that.

I thought it should have just cleared 80. The first half of the program especially is heavily jump focused with not a ton of transitions/difficult choreo.

He needs to sell both halves of the program, and regardless of whether he's hitting his elements or not, and get that second mark higher. He was near his personal best here, and with 5 quads across both programs... whereas Vincent had 2 falls in his SP, and a sloppy FS, but still kept it close in the end.

But he should definitely enjoy his well-earned bronze. He was by far the most clean of the men, SP + LP considered.

Honestly Kolyada is veryyyy lucky he has the Flag of a very powerful federation next to his name...cause if he was from a smaller country he would not get near the podium skating like did in his two Grand Prixs

TES is actually very easy to understand. Just look at his Base value and you'll see even with 2 pops he has around 20 points advantage. His technique is one of the best so high GOE are expected as long as he lands them.

PCS who knows :)

Btw, anyone know what that jump is called when a skater jumps with both legs stretched forward? It's not a split jump, but something close?

Russian split jump?
