2018 US Championships Sr. Ladies FS

Hmm, maybe you are right. I remembered she declined something that USFS offered her to compensate for her not going to Olympics.

No maybe. Mirai handled 2014 with complete grace and never said anything bad about USFSA or Ashley. She accepted her assignment to 4CC despite a clearly broken heart and wished the team success at Sochi. She, like many watching, didn’t understand the decision at first, but she re-committed herself during this Olympic quad and seems to be peaking at the right time. So proud of her!

I just got an email that riedell is not producing anymore products for a while bc Ashley didn't make the team, and they're demanding that usfsa looks back into it, live.

Does that mean Ashley will actually go to 4CC this time? Thats pretty savage.. I thought they'd give her worlds as a consolation prize.

Nah. They probably may have given her Worlds, but she went Olympics or bust with her statement last night. I predict she declines and retires. I would love for it to be on Tomorrow’s NBC Today segment, special interview, going out with a bang.

I hope Ashley does decide to go to 4CCs. It'd be a shame if SA was her last international outing of the season.

I'm so happy for everyone who made the team, but I feel Ashley's anger and disappointment, it's so palpable.

Ashley deserved to go in 2014 and Mirai accepted that with dignitiy.
The PCS Ashley got yesterday on the other hand were not OK. She was being held down for whatever reason. The same way Karen was held down due to unfair UR calls. I applaud any skater who speaks out against shady judging. judges should be held accountable and should answer to media and coaches.

Their interview on Today was cute. Bradie seems so shy they couldn't really get her to talking. Karen just looked excited to be there. Mirai seemed the most experienced at talking to the media.

Mirai for ladies team captain for all Olympics press conferences? It will be a riot.

I don't think her statement last night changed anything in the decision. It was obvious from the start that the Olympic team would be the Karen and not Ashley because of 2014. It was obvious that Ashley made it clear: If they want to rely on her to get 3spots at worlds, then they shouldn't have screwed her over in PCS at Nationals.
The only thing that changed due to her statement is that judges finally get some criticism publicly.

She should win for a cleanup and ends up on a high. What a pity she didn't do Lala earlier in the season, it would have made a huge diff.

A Big Congratulations to Bradie, Mirai and Karen! So happy for these young
ladies for making Team USA! Well done. :cheer:

Feeling bad for Ashley. I know she skated her heart out but the result was not to be. It was so close between her and Karen.

True.

If I’m her, I support my bestie Adam for when he makes it tonight, and tomorrow, hand USFSA my walking papers, jump right over to Stars on Ice, and use La La Land as her program there.

Hmm, she could've had much more time with this program if it weren't for Olympic pressures causing quite a few skaters (across disciplines) to change/keep programs.

Winning 4CCs would be a nice swan song, but I don't think it'd be satisfactory enough for her - very bittersweet. Also, the top Japanese women are going, so it won't be a cake walk by any means.

Yesterday John Wilson posted on their twitter that they weren't making any more blades if Mirai didn't make the team so I guess it is now... Hopefully my skates will last until they come back
