Random Confessions

I'm also a huge softy. I cry a lot at movies. I was crying during Jason and Max's free skates at 4CC. I cry a freaking lot

I cried sad tears for Max at Nationals and then happy tears at 4CC. That's twice in a matter of days....Yikes.

I cried and was generally inconsolable when Todd finished 4th in Nagano 1998. I watched the rest of the Olympics, but just didn't enjoy it as much as I had hoped. A month later I was feeling much better when he won the silver medal @ Worlds (and won the free skate). No doubt I probably cried tears of joy when he won Worlds in 1996.

I'm a softy @ movies, too!

"Dead Poet Society" is the only movie where I cried so hard, I had to get up and go to the lobby. Too many parallels between me and Neil.

Todd has a special place in my heart because he's one of the few skaters I have seen in person more than once. He was great both times and as a "Stalker" I have watched him when he's not skating and he was just as sweet as can be. He also has the best legs in world......

I love the whole comment, mrrice. You seem a very passionate and sensitive person. Glad you handled your challenges differently from Neil.
Dead Poet's Society is one of the best movies ever and meant a lot when I was young. I had a huge film poster in my room at uni.

Who doesn't love Dead Poet's Society. It's too bad Robin Williams and the rest of the cast didn't get more accolades for it, they were brilliant (I adore Robert Sean Leonard).

The only movie that I sobbed and ugly cried in the theater was Steven Spielberg's War Horse. The last 40 minutes or so were brutal. I couldn't handle it. I own the film, but I've never taken it out of the plastic. I'll never watch it again. I can't handle animals dying or getting hurt. I'm still haunted by the scene where the black horse dies.

Ditto for me. I'm still so angry at the character Will Smith plays in I am Legion. His German shepherd dog is completely loyal and devoted to him and he gets her killed. My best friend and I were like "we don't care about you anymore Will. Get dead for all we care."

Yeah, same here. I cry every time my favourite team wins the FA Cup final, so, no tears this year :sarcasm: I cry when I return to places that mean a lot more to me than just a tourist visit. I mean, when I'm approaching the town/city/area on the plane, by car or whatever. Once I'm there I'm just happy.

I can relate to a degree. (Especially with the vacation deal). ;)

My post was more of the fact that I have had ups and downs when competing in the sport and now as a pro.

I've also had happy/sad teary moments with events with my family (who live far from me now) and other things.

This too.

I was so upset when Ryan Bradley just missed the 2010 team for Johnny Weir who didn't skate as well IMO. :disapp:

And when Jeremy Abbott missed the Worlds podium in 2014. He was so close. :(

What's your favourite team? :)

I don't do fantasy football leagues (honestly I still don't get how it works! lol) but there's Fantasy Mushing, and I'm obsessive about it. I am not the best at picking a winning "team" of teams, but I still do my homework trying to come up with the perfect formula lol

if anyone wants to play, it's free, and you really DON'T have to have a lot of knowledge (because it seems the ones who don't think/know too much do better than those of us who do  ) it's http://www.fantasymushing.com and it's free to play. If more of us sign up we can come up with a group name haha

My friend and I reserved a space in a sports bar (it's a cool loft space so we can nerd out away from the football people) for the men's free and ladies free to have a watch party. We are prepared.

Also- I walked around the block today which I am proud of. Going to work a half day tomorrow so we'll see how that goes. The flu this year is nasty people. Take care of yourselves!

I have a lot of carrot by chance. Not the type of carrots on jump though. The problem is I've been on a diet for several months, so can't make any food that potentially gains me an extra weight. If I were a rabbit, I could be very happily eating all of them raw though. lol.

That scene affects me the same way.. it is gut-wrenching. I feel Spielberg was making a point with that scene particularly... few if us know more horses died horribly in the First and Second WW's than humans.. he kind of put things in perspective for us with that film. I own the book and the film...

I am dog sitting 3 dogs at my house. 2 large dogs and one small one. I'm trying to get them settled in but they are not used to being on main street so every time someone walks by they bark. It's going to be fun when the elementary school lets out.

But dogs are the best so. ;)

What kind are they, I always love to hear about pups. :luv17:

One is a westie, one is a labradoodle and the other is a lab-greyhound mix who is a rescue from a U.S. shelter. He was in the shelter for 7 years. no one wanted him. Apparently, and I only know this because I know a number of people who work with various rescue organizations Black dogs have a much lower chance of being adopted in the US. It's strange but even when we had a rescued Greyhound who raised in Florida back 18 years ago we were told by the lady who brought the dogs up that basically they could not find homes in the US for the black males.

The Westie is a troublemaker. She loves to get the two bigger dogs barking. She's adorable but you can tell she's full of attitude. The Rescue is very very neurotic and has terrible separation anxiety. The labradoodle is super calm and sweet. Normally I'd dog sit them at their own home but I'm doing this as a favour for a friend (for free) and I have a very sick dying cat to care for.

Aw sounds like you have your hands full there! The Westie sounds like she has a bigger bark than bite ;). And the Rescue sounds alot like my dog, he has horrible separation anxiety. I love labradoodles. I'm really sad to hear that the black dogs have a hard time getting adopted, I'm the type that if I could, I would adopt all the dogs so they wouldn't be alone and sad. :(

I'm really sorry to hear about the cat who is passing. :(:console:

He's a great cat. He's one of those tuxedo cats with huge whiskers and he loves to cuddle but his liver is failing.

We will adopt another dog but I'm still dealing with what happened to our GSD, Eli, and then this cat's illness.

Dogs can be like potato chips. You can never have just one.

So sorry to hear about your cat. I still miss my kitties who have passed away.

Thanks Doris. His name is Antonio Mushtashio because he's has a mustache. He's a great cat.

they are only in our lives for a short time but they have a huge impact.
