2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 3

I know I'm in the minority in this, and I am NOT by any means a huge Patrick fan - but that Hallelujah program is a masterpiece. Best new men's program this season for me. It wasn't perfect tonight, but he certainly did it justice.

I'm disgusted with the politics that rewards Canada and Russia when they don't need it. They can win without country bonus.

Haven't watched Keiji much, but I'm shocked that Japan's third man is so far behind Uno and Hanyu in terms of both technical and artistic ability.

I found Chan's skate unexpectedly moving, in spite of the fall. Gorgeous quads and skating skills. Very happy for him.

Adam's skate was nice, but I didn't think it was magical. I agree that he should've gotten higher PCS than Kolyada (most definitely in IN/PE/CH), but it just felt a bit nervous and not as free as it could have been.

Okay guys, this is the Olympics and the top score for the men FS here coming from the 5 best nations in the world... is 179.

Casual viewers are NOT prepared for the craziness that will hit them if they think 179 is good.

Yulia: "Yesterday, seeing Satoko's scores, it was already obvious that Japan is just visiting here"

Keiji Tanaka

Ouch, only a 2S instead of a 4S. And yet another 2S, yowchies. Stronger 3A. And alright sit spin. Abundance of steps in the sequence. Fall on the 4T, but at least it was rotated. Alright 3A+2T+1Lo. Better 3F+3T. Second spin seemed rather short in the rotation, but a fairly strong 3Lo and 3Lz. Okay combo spin.

Tanaka just didn't feel as energized nor as focused as he was at Japanese Nationals. Those two pops on the 4S was just due to rushing that take-offs. I wish he brought more expression to the music, particularly in the musical changes. He'll likely land in fifth.

I agree. I don't like Patrick but he can create a moment. His PCS does not bother me nearly as much as Kolyada. (and I definitely like Kolyada more than Patrick at least in personality)

Twitter is confused why Rippon was scored below Kolyada. This sport must look bonkers to the casual viewers

Not that I always agree with it, but it's a question of degree of difficulty. I'm not sure why people seem to think this is so hard for viewers to understand (especially since that's what the commentators are for, to explain it) — degree of difficulty explains results in many, many sports.
