2018 Olympic Figure Skating Team Event Day 3

Adam was very fortunate to get that score considering much of his program is two-footed skating and crossovers, with a lots of posing. But his jumps were not bad today.

But he was able to reach out to his audience though.

I'm sure some of you have already considered this: would the competition have been more interesting if the scoring on the second day was 10 8 6 4 2?

Congrats to Patrick for winning the Freeskate.

Lmao as for those saying it was a messy skate - come on.... as if Kolyada skated well himself and as if Rippon had to strong quad combos.

If anyone should be salty about this it was Rippon getting hosed by losing to that messy skate from Kolyada. He should have gotten at least 90 PCS for that beautiful FS.

I love Adam, and he is one of my favorite skater out there, but the truth is - that programme is just not good technically (not enough hard to skate). I mean, Rika Kihira skates the programme with same elements

Previously I gave the assessment of my 3 male roommates who have never watch this sport ever (https://www.goldenskate.com/forum/s...eam-Event-Day-2/page105&p=1963370#post1963370). Once again I coerced these plebs into watching. Their assessment:

1 - Patrick Chan - They were impressed by the quads, 4T+3T especially. Didn't have the language, but they were trying to say his skating skills were amazing and he looked fast. They surprisingly seemed to accept falling shouldn't determined everything, even without my prompting?
2 - Adam Rippon - Thought it was pretty
3 - Kolyada - Liked the music, but thought his falls were bad
4 - Rizzo - Liked him but thought he was slow and didn't find his jumps impressive
5 - Tanaka - A mess and most of them started playing on their phones midway through.

I have to say, as much as I want my favorites to medal as well, I love that they've still got a competition going here. Mirai's skate here actually matters. She's got her own fate in her hands.

I'm counting for Gabby Daleman and Alina Zagitova to skate their hearts out today. And for Mirai to relax, have fun, and rotate and land that 3A.

Did anyone else hear the announcers in the arena present the "benchmark scores" for the ladies?

115-119 very good (?)
120-129 I forgot but it's higher than very good
130-144 outstanding
145+ top scores

I wonder who comes up with these "benchmark scores", because I want to ask the person why 115-119 is considered very good these days...
